Wonderful deconstructed fairytale.
Very clever, imaginative and heartwarming tale that will make you forget the old fairytale you were told as a child.
This is another great read by Laura Greenwood! I always know I’ll enjoy her books and this was no exception. What if the Evil Queen in Snow White wasn’t evil at all? I liked the premise of this story because I love fairy tale retellings especially from alternate perspectives. This story is well written and easy to read and it’s fairly short so you can read it in one sitting if you like. I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy fairy tale retellings!

This was a great twist on the Snow White story! Told from the evil queen’s POV, it gives us a completely different view of the evil queen than we’ve ever seen before! Totally unexpected, twisted and wonderful! Like all of Laura Greenwood’s books, the characters are well developed, complex, and relatable. The story world is beautifully described and easy to fall into. If you like fairytale retellings and are open to a wild twist, you will love this story!

How Evil is the Evil Queen?
I love twists on classic fairy tales, and this is a great one. Told from the perspective of the Evil Queen from Snow White, her deeds are just as dastardly, but her reason for doing so is completely different. This totally shifts the narrative in surprising ways. I won’t spoil it by giving away too much more. She certainly made the Evil Queen sympathetic, which is not easy to do. The author has injected some dry humor in the story, which is always appreciated. The odd bit of modern language startled me, and a pervasive punctuation problem often seen in fantasy (and all fiction, really, but more so in fantasy) irked me as well. The issue is comma splices in dialogue. I don’t know where this trend got started, but I’m enough of a word nerd to find it jarring when I come across them. However, I love this story, and if you enjoy new spins on the tried-and-true fairy tales, you might very well like it as well.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Whimsical and entertaining story using an old fairy tale as inspiration. Interesting characters and story with lots of twists and turns to keep you reading until the end! Good read.

I think this book would have been great as a full fledged novel. Laura Greenwood brings a take on Snow White that I had not heard of yet by focusing on the “Evil Queen”. Greenwood’s interpretation asks us to consider that maybe the Queen was trying to do something for the good of the kingdom and not the destruction of it.
The whole plan is diabolical and delicious. I want more of it. There is so much to work worth as there are different enemies from within and without the castle walls. Then the intrigue of the promise itself. Greenwood adds in romance too. We also get to see Katya as a warrior. I want more of Poisoned Fate.
If you have not started the “Untold Tales” series, then you should. Greenwood has an interesting take on these tales and I have to say that so far this one is my favorite.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

Poisoned Fate is book three of the Untold Tales series and a fabulous retelling of Snow White from the Evil Queen’s point of view. I loved the way the author explained the prophecy and who would be the evil Queen and who would be Snow White the good Queen. This is an intriguing story and held my attention from the first page until the last. I am loving this series and I can’t wait to read the next book in the Untold Tales series.
An emotional roller coaster of a retelling that had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Really enjoyed this highly entertaining, action packed and heart racing adventure. Great reading.

Great book.
This was a great story. It was a fairy tale retold from the perspective of the Evil Queen in Snow White. I really enjoyed it.
Katya is the Queen and is trying to make the kingdom horrible so she can fulfill a death promise. She needs her friend, Lucia to be ready for the throne. She has this on her shoulders until her huntsman, Gideon makes her share her secret. He agrees to help. Will she be able to help her friend and the kingdom?

This is the story of Katya and what she does to help her best friend be the Queen and woman she must be. I have to say this is a wildly re-imagined retelling of a classic story from the Evil Queen point of view. Although as I read the story it became hard to determine who was the good queen and who was really the bad queen. I loved the twists and the different way to look at what was happening. And the plans Katya came up with were fun and interesting. Just cool characters and a fun story to read and get lost in.
This twisted version gives us the story of Snow White from the Evil Queen’s POV. Lucia and Katya were like sisters, until she made a promise to the dying king that she would help Lucia (Snow White) gain the throne and become worthy to rule. Her plan was to make herself the Queen everyone hated to allow Lucia to save the kingdom, as it was prophesied.
Katya followed her plan to keep her promise. She did things that would make Lucia hate her. When her friend Gideon arrives, she tells him the whole truth of what she is doing and why. He helps her in whatever way he can. Can Katya maneuver Lucia into becoming the person she needs to be? Will Katya become completely hated, or could she possibly find someone who loves her and knows the truth?
This was a good retelling because it gives us hope that perhaps Katya is not the wicked queen we had always thought. We see this version does have a heart and can love, and that the painful things she did were because she loved the people and was doing what was best for them, sacrificing her own joy and happiness out of love for them. Will she find some happiness for herself along the way?
This book follows Katya (The Evil Queen) and gives us a glimpse into her side of the story. There are two sides to every story and this story really makes you think and understand why The EQ acted the way she did.

Don’t expect this to be your normal fairy tale retelling. This focuses on the Evil Queen from Snow White and it’s totally different than what I’ve read previously. It works though. There is always another side to a story and this was very creative and entertaining.
