What a great twist to Snow White told from the Evil Queen’s point of view! The evil queen in this instance is Lucia. Snow White in the scenario is Katya. These two grew up and were as close as sisters until Katya made a promise to the dying king that she would do everything possible to become the hated queen in the prophecy so that Lucia could become the beloved Queen that saves the kingdom. Are you intrigued yet? Can you imagine how lonely that would be to deliberately make sure you are hated in order for someone else to be loved? Now the heartbreaking part. How will Katya ever find someone to love her as the evil queen? This has a stellar twist that caught my interest immediately.
Queen Katya was not who the people thought she was. Because of a promise to a dying King, she had become an evil Queen that had shoved her best friend and princess, Lucia, out of the land. But with the help of her friend and huntsman, Gideon, and wolf, Riki, and the unknowing Prince Philip, she prepared the gruesome task that the king laid out for her, yielding her an HEA.

Katya is portrayed as an obedient daughter who becomes the Queen, but follows her fathers orders that she become hated and force Lucia (Snow White) to become strong and determined and rule as Queen in the best way possible. This point of view completely changes the fairytale for me and I liked it. The characters were complex and dealing with so much. The storyline had great backstories and behind the scenes plots. This story and its mate give you a much larger picture of what could have happened. Love the intrigue and the growth that Lucia achieves to become a strong ruler and care for the people correctly. Great ending.

A really interesting story and take on this character from the fairytales. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story and seeing the romance develop.

I loved being able to understand the reason behind the villain. I have often wondered what made them act the way that they did. As while there are cruel people in the world, more often than not, there is something in their past which has made them that way rather than they are just malignant at heart. I’m going to be difficult here and not really tell you anything more other than is a wonderful book. There is a reason for that as this book is interwoven with the characters and times of Fractured Core and I want both to be enjoyed as they should without spoilers. I am unsure if there is a real reading order to this series of books but if you plan to read them all (I do suggest that you do) I would encourage you to read Fractured Core before you read Poisoned Fate. You’ll see why when you read them!
This book was such a brilliant twist on the Evil Queen and I am so happy that I got to read her side of the story.

A well-written retelling of a classic fairy tale. I volunteered to read an advance copy for an honest review.
This was my favourite Untold Tales so far. I loved how the author made the Evil Queen to be a likeable character. You feel for Katya and hope it turns out well for her. This gives you the background for Snow White’s story. When I read Katya’s story I cheered and hoped for the best. A really good read that I would recommend to everyone.

What if Snow White became the evil Queen and her best friend Lucia was the beloved Queen? This would be complete turnaround from the story told. Snow White is Katya and her best friend, Lucia are close like sisters. Katya makes a promise to the king to become the hated queen so Lucia can become the beloved queen to save the kingdom. Will everything work out the way Katya needs it to save the kingdom?

I really enjoyed reading Ms. Greenwood’s version of Snow White. It starts with a promise to a dying king. A promise that will affect an entire kingdom in the end. A once kind-hearted woman is forced to become a deceitful and much hated villain in order to fulfill the promise that she made to the king before he died. Will she achieve the goal that she was taxed with? Will all of the events that she has perpetrated be in vain? Will there be a better ending than the one that was first foretold? This story may not contain the seven dwarfs, but the other elements of Snow White are interestingly represented. I am sure that you will enjoy reading this book to find out the answers for yourself. I am really enjoying this series and look forward to reading Cinderella’s story next.

This is a re-telling of snow white. Lucia (snow) and Katya (evil queen) where close and she married to help her friend, but Lucia has to follow a prophecy that make Katya look evil to make Lucia look the good queen this was a different twist to the story and was enjoyable to see the other side.

I love this retelling of the evil queen
But than a little different.
It hooked me right away at the first chapter a lot and i couldnt put this book down.
I really enjoyed this booK. And will read the rest of the untold tales by Laura Greenwood
Katya is an interesting take on the Evil queen in Snow White. A widow who never aspired to be queen, dutiful to the end. Much of the conflict in this book is her struggle to stay true to who she is and not succumb to the person she must become in order to hone the young princess in to the confidence inspiring leader she must become.
Overall, this was a fun, quick read but it felt like it was missing something. Katya is a difficult character to make the star of a book as she is playing support to and manipulating other characters and doesn’t seem fully in control of her own fate. She is a protagonist, posing as a villain, for someone else’s ends.
Poisoned Fate is the companion story to Fractured Core. They tell two sides of the same story and each answer questions posed by the other. They can both be read independently, and in any order but I highly recommend reading both as it provides a richer experience.
This story is based on the evil Queen from the Snow White fairy tale. Katya made a promise to Lucia’s father the King on his deathbed. She must become Queen so that Lucia can learn to become a great Queen in her exile. This has been very hard for Katya. Katya confesses to Gideon the promise she made to the King.
Gideon persuades Katya to let him help her. This was an entertaining and enchanting story. The characters are endearing. The author makes you feel Katya’s apprehension and misgivings for what she must do to her dear friend Lucia. The romance between Gideon and Katya is sweet. Gideon is very protective of Katya. This was a well written story that I truly enjoyed. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
What is the evil queen really wasn’t evil? What if she was a woman willing to do anything to keep a promise and help the realm? Katya is the queen and you are about to read the story from her view. To see what she felt and to finally see her side. Expect deception and pain on all sides with an unexpected twist. This is a beautifully written story with two amazing characters that you will wish the best for.
“Poisoned by Fate”, the third installment in Laura Greenwood’s “Untold Tales” series is a retelling of Jacob and Wilhem Grimm world-renowned “Snow White” fairy tale, which offers a brand-new point of view on the story, focusing on the Evil Queen reasons to behave as she does in the tale. A very fresh retelling, that focuses on both Snow White (Lucia) and the Evil Queen (Katya).
Finally, we get to see the Evil Queen’s side, from her own POV, and as it seems, she is not so evil as portrayed, but had in fact a good reason to behave like she did. As I couldn’t possibly delve into the plot without giving away important twists, let us just say that this is a very unexpected view of the classical tale, that makes a lot of sense when see through Katya’s eyes.
The Untold Tales series is a retelling of world-renowned classical fairy tales, that adds a modern twist to the classical tales. Greenwood’s version of the fairy-tale world is funny, entertaining and interesting. A brand-new take on the fairy-tale trope, fresh, original and fun. The stories, which are independent from each other, offer an amazing blend of the original tales and brand-new twist and situations, that will appeal to both fairy-tale lovers and all those looking for a brand-new story that adds layers of narrations and different POVs to the already known situations. Fairy tales, magic, romance, familiars, FMC, adventure, fast-paced plots, credible leads, new turns and twists, what more can one wish for?
Laura Greenwood has taken fairytale retelling to another direction with “Poisoned Fate”. Read Snow White’s story, but from the POV of the Evil Queen and by the end of the book you’ll be wondering “how evil is the Evil Queen really?” A quick story to read, with a unique twist on the original fairytale, that will captivate you!
