When Cassie Coburn moved to London, she never thought she’d be involved in a quadruple homicide. After a car accident ended her medical career before it even started, Cassie moved to London on a whim, expecting to see the sights and live the typical tourist backpacker lifestyle.Instead she finds herself accompanying a French private detective, Violet Despuis, as they attempt to find out who … attempt to find out who poisoned four people in the middle of London.
Cassie’s life soon includes this crazy detective, an ancient landlady with a curious past, a mischeivous orange cat who likes going for walks on a leash, and a super hot pathologist that Cassie is sure is out of her league.
And they haven’t even found the murderer yet…
The Cassie Coburn mysteries are a cozy mystery series featuring a Sherlock-holmes style sleuth. If you want a light, fun, modern mystery featuring a San Francisco girl totally out of her element in London, and a crazy French woman who happens to be very good at noticing things, then this is the series for you.

Decent cozy mystery with interesting characters. Not really a thriller, but an entertaining story. I would read another in the series.
I liked reading this book very much. The characters are very easy to relate too.

Not my usual reading but I loved it. It was so different. I really enjoyed it. I would defiantly recommend, it.
A very good take on a female version of Sherlock Holmes and Watson.
This book keeps you guessing!
I didn’t want to put the book down.
Very enjoyable read!!!
This story is well written and in its own way , funny. I know it is a mystery but I happen to have a friend very similar to Violet and even dire situations have a somewhat amusing side from her point of view. This was an enjoyable read, the kind of story you wish would go on longer.
Interesting characters…. I think the author has set up an interesting formula to carry through to other books in a series. I believe she will become a stronger writer with each new book.
Quick, fun read! Interesting characters!
Kind of a feminist twist on Sherlock Holmes and Watson with these two characters. I look forward to the next book. Fun!
I really enjoyed reading this story with a very modern, female Sherlock Holmes. It was very witty and hard to put down. I will look forward to more in this series.
“Poison in Paddington” by Samantha Silver is an intriguing murder mystery which takes readers from the United States to an unexpected London adventure. Cassie Coburn, a twenty nine year old medical student, is just finishing one of the last days of her orthopedic surgical residency when she is run over in the parking lot of the hospital in which she has been working. She is taken back into the hospital and when she awakens from surgery, finds out that besides other injuries, her hand has been so badly injured that she can no longer operate and thus, can no longer fulfill her dream of being a surgeon. She is understandably very depressed and has to figure out what she will do with the rest of her life. After receiving about ten million dollars in insurance money from the accident, she chooses to go to London because she has a viable UK passport due to her father’s being from Scotland. She gets a room in a hostel in downtown London and buys a cheap bike so she can explore her new surroundings. Her bike is stolen almost immediately and when she goes to a police station to report the theft, she finds herself on the wrong floor and then ends up helping out in a search for a serial killer. After the Inspector in charge, DCI Tony Williams, offers to take down information about her and her bike, he is admonished for wasting time away from his work by a woman with a French accent who apparently does not work for the police but is helping find the killer. Violet, the arrogant French woman, had studied Cassie while she was talking to DCI Williams and figured out, from Cassie’s reading the formula for the poison used in the murders, her American clothes and accent, and the appearance of her hand that she was a doctor from America who could not practice because of injuries from an accident so she came to London to try to get over her depression and have an adventure. Cassie is impressed with Violet’s logic and even more impressed when Violet has her join her in solving the murders. I’m sure readers will not be able to put the book down and will be delighted in joining Cassie and Violet in their escapades.
Such a fun read, especially if you like Sherlock Holmes. The female sleuths are charming and smart, and the mystery will keep you guessing.
light, short, modern miss marple . great!!!
Fun and easy to read.
