Looking for a great summer beach read? I highly recommend getting stranded on an island in this steamy tropical adventure by one of the best authors writing romantic thrillers, Rachel Grant. This book has so many great surprises, heart-pounding action, and a love story that will stick with you long after you close the book. In fact, you may want to just pick it up again!
Wow. That’s one helluva book. Fast paced story that has you hooked from the beginning. Never knowing who Ivy can trust, she has to make the right desicions – working with/for her “abductor” or against him by escaping. And what about her employment? Why did they sent her to Palau on such short notice? Great and quite thrilling – as there’s somebody else trying to abduct her…
I loved this edge of your seat romantic suspense. Especially the multiple POV which were really necessary to fully understand the history behind, and during, the story. Rachel Grant is extremely skilled at weaving a twisted, in depth, story that will keep you guessing right to the last page. The surprises just keep coming!
Extremely intelligent Ivy MacLeod is barely dealing with her ex-husbands arrest for treason and espionage, leaving her to deal with reporters claiming she is a traitor by association. Having just finished ‘CAM’, a Computer-Aided Mapping device that she was developing, she is sent to test it by mapping a World War II battle site in the paradise islands of Palau. But once she arrives it quickly becomes clear there are nefarious plots at hand to steal her device and Ivy is left to figure out who to trust with both the device and her very life as well.
When Air Force pilot Jack Keaton comes to her rescue Ivy is quickly enamored, but soon learns nothing is as it seems, no one is who they say they are, and she has no idea who to trust. If she chooses right she saves her countries secrets. Choosing wrong, she risks all out war.
As always Grant comes up with some high tech cool stuff and a brainy heroine. Couple that with a sexy spy with a heart and conscience of gold and you got yourself a really fun read with a twist that I did not see coming in the end. WOW.
POISON EVIDENCE is an intensely compelling story. It’s filled with complex personalities, intriguing drama, powerful suspense, and steamy passion. Jack’s multiple facets may have you questioning who he really is, but there’s more surprises in store as to the identity of some of the key players. It’s the twists and turns as you peel back the layers to this story, that will keep you riveted to each page. The intensity builds slowly until you find yourself hanging on every word and reluctant to stop reading. Jack’s and Ivy’s characters are extremely well drawn, and the storyline is well developed. Integrating characters from previous books in the series adds to the overall enjoyment of this tale, but it stands alone in its depth and breadth of entertainment.
You hit the ground running in this book and I like it. I thought it was very well written, with a great cast of characters and an engaging plot. I like the spy aspect of the story it kept me waiting for more. I did think it was about five chapters too long but they were at least entertaining. Well done.
Had a difficult time staying with the plot.
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy through Netgalley of Poison Evidence . This story is action packed from the start . It kept my attention from the first page too the last . This story is intense and full of twists and turns . Ivy MacLeod is a brilliant and skilled woman . She created an advanced remote sensing equipment . Betrayed by her ex husband she finds herself testing her equipment on the Islands of Palau .she soon finds herself in danger from foreign intelligence agencies and her ex husbands terrorists allies . Jack Keston steps in to protect her but maybe he isn’t who she thinks he is ?
This is a fantastic story . I was on the edge of my seat and read straight to the end .
Along with the suspense and intrigue let’s not forget romance . The chemistry between Ivy and Jack is hot and steamy . This is an all out fabulous story .
I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy .
Ivy is still reeling from the traitorous acts of her ex! he took HER work and tried to sell it to the highest bidder. She sadly has been tarred with the same brush, now her reputation is in tatters and people are starting to beliece the lies that he spread that she wasn’t as smart as they were led to believe or that the invention had been HIS idea!
She managed to secue a new job and is using her new technology to map archeology sites, a peaceful application for her work. Mapping an underwater WWII battle site is perfect for her. But she meets the hot, handsome and intriguing Jack at a party and before she knows it she is up to her neck in more intrigue!
Jack Keaton is, well…not Jack Keaton. It’s a convenient cover for his work in the Palau area. But he didn’t think he’d be this attracted to Ivy. She was meant to be a means to an end, a way to save his sister and his nephew from the hell he felt responsible for. But can he really just dupe Ivy into parting with her work or will he see that there is more between them than he thought?
There was a major WTF moment in this! Did not see that plot twist coming. Jack is endearing, even when you know he has nefarious plans for Ivy! Ivy is smart as hell, sexy without knowing it and a helluva action hero!
I always look out for Rachel Grants books, haven’t been disappointed till now. keep up the writing and good work
Awesome book as is the whole series.
Wow what a story. The amount of research this author had to do blows my mind. She was very thorough in it. This story was hot. If you were lucky to get the narration it was excellent.
Ivy is a cartographer and has invented a machine, Cam, that can map the land. She takes it to Palau to map a World War Two site. She’s glad to get away after her ex is accused of treason. Dimitri needs Cam and Ivy so he can find a missing Russian technology so he kidnaps them both. Dimitri is part American and part Russian and a spy. Someone has been pulling his strings for years and once he finds out who it’s been, it’s a showdown. Dimitri isn’t the only one after Ivy, some of her ex’s cronies want her technology too. And they’ll do anything to get it.
This was a little confusing so I don’t really know if this even makes sense. Plenty of action, sex, spies, and mystery.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
Outstanding romantic suspense with kickass, super smart heroines.
What I like about Grant’s books are her strong female leads, her research, sexy romance, interesting subject matter, and great suspense. Poison Evidence had all the above in spades! Intense from start to finish, Poison Evidence had an intricate plot, action, suspense, wonderful supporting cast, and one very sizzling romance. Think highly charged and lots of adrenaline, a perfect combo for the romantic suspense reader!
