Sean Hudson thought nothing of hopping a fence to dig illegally for Native American arrowheads, spear points, and other artifacts. Did his thieving, trespassing ways get him killed? How else to explain the small pickaxe that was found sunk deep into his skull? Blanco County game warden John Marlin has dealt with these kinds of looters before, so it’s no surprise when the sheriff asks him to … assist with the investigation. Marlin quickly learns that this case—like the soil at a dig site—has many layers.

The Texas tale was heat. If you like Rednecks, you’ll enjoy this story. I did!!!
It really is incredible how so many things can be tied up to one main case. A murder leads to so much trouble on top of the obvious and watching it all unfold is so entertaining. This book is my favorite one so far in this series.
Format: audiobook
Narrator: Johnny Peppers
An incredibly amusing and enjoyable tale with lots of twists and turns to keep you engaged.
If you’ve listened to or read any books in this series then you’ll be familiar with the regular characters particularly Red and Billy Don who aren’t really good guys but not really the bad guys either, somehow they always end up in the thick of it deliberately or not, their antics and banter gives endless humour that all in makes this a highly enjoyable story.
Love reading about my area, but had trouble with the language.
This is the first book I read by Ben Rehder and I liked it so much that I went back to get another to start with book #1 of the Blanco County Mysteries. This author is clever and entertaining. You don’t need to start with book #1 of the series to enjoy “Point Taken”. Any of his books can stand alone but I do like to read them in order. He also has a Roy Ballard series that I really like. But I am now waiting for the next in the series to either be written or come out. That is how much I enjoy his books. I am just starting #6 in the Blanco County series! Try them. I think you just might become addicted like I have!
Clever, entertaining and a little informative during the train ride.
A very good series.
I have read several books in this series, this was an i
entertaining read with familiar characters and mystery. More than one bad guy.
You’ll enjoy the familiar people in this series
,
Not, in my opinion, his best, but entertaining…..
Anything by this author has been so entertaining Especially if you have ever lived in Texas. A joy to read.
Every one of Ben Rehder’s novels have been fun to read
I love these books about the Blanco Country folks. They relax me.
Ben Rehder is one of my favorite writers, and his Blanco County is a great vacation spot. His characters are well drawn, and in the case of Red and Billy Don, hilarious. I’m always eager to get my hands on a Blanco County story. It’s a consistently entertaining series.
A good read
I read the whole series. I loved the light hearted story and banter.
This book didn’t work well for me……because, unfortunately I am a southwestern archeologist and one of my many specialties is worked stone tools, including projectile points. Nuff said.
A little slow on the story with a whole lot about digging on others peoples property.
A fun book to read on a chilly weekend by the fire. A charming story about Texas at it’s worst and proud of it! II love all the charactures
I started this book and really regretted that I did so. Immature writing style and lots and lots of foul language. If you are thinking this is a good South West mystery, you couldn’t be more wrong. Coarse would be my best word for this book.
Ben Rehder is one of my favorite authors, hands down and this lived up to my expectations. His characters continue to be complex and believable, his plots interesting and unpredictable. At first I judged the denouement of Point Taken to be less satisfactory than his previous novels, but after some thought, it ended as it should have.
