This new romantic suspense from Irene Hannon is a winner! Eve is a strong, independent woman with unshakeable convictions, even when faced off against those who disagree with her. Brent is a detective who is excellent at his job, but doubts his heart will ever allow him to find a lasting, loving relationship. They’re thrown together when Eve’s livelihood, and perhaps her life, are threatened. The book has plenty of twists and turns, chemistry, and I found it hard to put down. Excellent! I look forward to the next book in the series!
I was asked to review Point of Danger by Irene Hannon by NetGalley. Irene is a wonderful author who has been around for awhile and I have really enjoyed her books. This one was fantastic too. Lots of action, romance, danger and excitement. The only problem I had was the flow between who was talking or what was going on. After about 1/3 of the way through I was able to remember to change scene or who was talking in the middle of a page but it took awhile. I kept having to go back and figure out the different characters and who we were reading about.
The book flowed nicely and I was able to read it in two evenings although I was up late on one of them.
I especially liked the interaction between the main characters and the sisters. Irene shows us that no matter what happens in our lives we can move ahead and heal from the past.
This book also was relevant to what is going on in the world today and was interesting how you got to see both sides of an issue.
I would totally recommend this book to anyone that likes danger, intrigue, mystery and romance. You won’t be disappointment.
Do you like to solve puzzles? Irene Hannon does such a great job of having several possible suspects to her crimes that it definitely feels like a complicated puzzle. Several people have possible reasonable motives in this book so you start to wonder if there is more than one suspect working together. Because of this, I am so drawn in and captivated by this story that it is hard to put it down. I will say that there are some topics in this book that lots of people will have strong opinions on or may bring up bad memories for some so if you are someone that gets upset when reading about difficult topics then this book may not be for you. There is also to me an underlying theme of the enemy coming after someone the more they try to do the right thing.
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in order to give an honest review.
Eve is a radio talk shop host and is getting threats, Brent is a new detective on the force and comes to check things out. she finds a bomb on the front porch, then her tires a slashed who is out to get her. Brent is trying to help her but things are getting worse. if you like suspense with, bomb threat, phone threats, and a neighbor bringing her treats as she fixes her new house. the story also deals with a man being manipulated by a reporter for a shot on the radio will he see through her or not? this is a well written story complex this is a new writer to me but i will check more of her work. i was given a copy of the book by netgalley but this is an honest review
A well-paced Christian romantic suspense with likable characters, POINT OF DANGER is the first in a new series by the incomparable Irene Hannon. Eve Reilly is a talk show host who is being threatened, presumably because of her outspoken conservative views. Detective Brent Lange is the one assigned to find out who is threatening her and to protect her. The emphasis in this book was mostly romance but there was enough suspense to keep me totally engaged in Eve’s story. Eve was so gutsy that I couldn’t help but like her! She absolutely refused to back down even when the danger got closer and more personal. She shares her conservative Christian views with Brent, a skeptical and good-looking detective who was burned by love before and who doesn’t trust easily. There were some real twists in the story and I did not figure out the villain until just before the author’s big reveal. The way the author unraveled the identity of the bad guy slowly was very enticing. The threat to Eve was real and the definite Christian undertone of the story was, too. I highly recommend this book to those looking for a clean romantic suspense tale that is intriguing and absorbing!

I was introduced to Irene Hannon’s writing earlier this year with her romantic Hope Harbor series – “Starfish Pier” (Book #6). So, I was delighted to learn she also wrote romantic suspense which has been my favorite genre for well over 20+ years starting with Harlequin’s Intrigue line as well as Dee Henderson’s “Uncommon Heroes” line which introduced me to Christian fiction.
I have not had the pleasure of reading Hannon’s previous romantic suspense/suspense novels. But, after reading this, I am definitely going to have save my money to get them.
“Point of Danger” is the first in Irene Hannon’s Triple Threat series. This is radio host Eve O’Reilly’s story. And, from the pictures on the author’s social media accounts, it looks like the second book will be Cate’s story.
While the cover is slightly underwhelming and doesn’t stand out – that is a ruse for this smart, thrilling, unpredictable, edgy read that kept me guessing up until the end with multiple suspects that is realistically written with today’s hot issues at the forefront. Hannon’s use of relatively short chapters made this an easy to read, page-turner that I could not put down!
The plot was surprising in that Hannon tackles the tough “conservative” view with Eve’s show despite the current climate, and there are “some” political comments in chapter one (1). This quickly turns into what could very well be a more realistic story rather than fiction. That is this novel’s greatest weakness, BUT, it also its greatest strength, despite coming out at such a time as we are in. Still, the author’s courage and tenacity to tackle this radiates into her main character’s strengths.
Hannon doesn’t shy away from the abortion debate, discrimination, a hotly debated racial shooting, or Antifa. She keeps the pot stirring going up until the thrilling end.
There are also potential triggers with domestic violence inferences and a miscarriage reference.
Starting off with a “bomb” threat, most of the story is devoted to how Eve dodges her “stalker” with the help of Detective Brent Lange. And, it was easy to see right from the beginning that a romance was budding. However, business does come first. And, even if it didn’t, the reader will see Brent’s reluctance.
The two don’t have time for romance anyway as they are as dodging the stalker(s) and trying to find him (them).
Hannon’s cast of characters left me with several suspects – no less than eight (8) – three (3) women and five (5) men. It honestly felt like a game of clue. And, readers will be surprised at the twist that the author throws in there regarding the stalker(s) – one I did see coming and another that I didn’t see coming. She also takes a dual shift with the stalker – is there more than one after Eve? Are they working together or separately?
The mysterious texts between “Dan” and “Al” were interesting and added to the intrigue faction. Though they were aliases for the real people. I did want to see more of what connected “Dan” to “Al”, as well as their motives. I’m hoping that the next book will wrap up that conclusion.
There was a phrase used in this that my mom raised me with – “actions speak louder than words”, which is so true. And, this is demonstrated throughout the book by almost everyone.
Hannon equally balanced the subtle attacks on Eve to the budding romance between her and Brent. Each chapter is one step closer to the main build up. And, Hannon does this in such a manner that it doesn’t feel forced, hurried, or lagging. Eve’s morality, given her views, is called into question – but she easily tackles it with a realistic and believable explanation.
One of the detectives states something about enjoying logical puzzles with solutions versus irrational people. I really enjoyed that perspective. And, it was an interesting nugget in this story.
I absolutely loved this novel and didn’t want to walk away from it. I’m going to be eagerly (overly so) for the next novel in this series.
As this is distributed by a Christian/faith-themed publisher, there are references to God, prayer, talks about faith. These are not central to the plot and in no way (given the tone of the novel) preaching to the reader. This is a “clean read” with no foul language or sex scenes.
Fans of the author’s romantic suspense line and those who enjoy the genre in general will more than likely enjoy this read.
SCINTILLATING!
Multi-Award Winner Author Irene Hannon is providing readers with a new series (Triple Threat) and Book 1, POINT OF DANGER is SCINTILLATING! Be ready for edge of your seat drama from start to finish! When a suspicious package arrives on her doorstep and she hears a ticking sound, she immediately notifies the authorities.
Police Detective Brent Lange is assigned to the case. He takes this case very seriously and quickly realizes that the predator is escalating his/her harassment. Brent also is impressed with how Eve handles herself even in the midst of all her trials. Too bad he has sworn off relationships. Eve is drawn to him as well. She sees that he makes her case a priority and quickly realizes that he would sacrifice his life for her.
As the mayhem continues to mount, it becomes very clear that this terrorizer wants nothing short of Eve’s death. Yet, Brent has a gut feeling they are missing a big piece of the puzzle. Hannon’s surprise climax clearly demonstrates why her writing continues to garner so much attention and win so many awards!
I was provided a complimentary copy of this novel by Revell and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.
A great thriller with a dose romance. Eve isn’t afraid to voice her opinion in her radio show. But not everybody agree with her. When threats come her way detective Brent must take care of the case. But can he shield his heart and keep Eve out of it? CAn Eve convinve Breant love is worth? A really good reading.
This book had everything I want to see in a romantic suspense novel.
There was plenty of action and the pool of suspects was large enough to keep me guessing. There were just enough clues to make me think I had the culprit figured out, and then maybe I didn’t.
The main characters were both relatable people with plenty of chemistry, who had me invested in their lives and in the outcome of their story. They were both well written and believable as were the side characters.
I loved the thread of family, friendship, and faith that was woven into the story, and I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received this book courtesy of Baker Publishing Group/Revell and NetGalley through Interviews and Reviews and this is my honest opinion.
Radio talk show host Eve Reilly covers controversial topics highlighting both sides as well as expressing her own conservative opinions. Receiving hate mail is nothing new, but finding a bomb on her doorstep is new. This is just the start of the threats against Eve. Police detective Brent Lange works to track down a suspect, but there is a scarcity of evidence. Brent is convinced that he is not husband material but he is drawn to Eve. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is an engrossing Christian romantic suspense story. I didn’t want to put this book down. Even though I am a long time mystery reader, the villain behind the threats surprised me. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Eve Reilly, has been threatened before, but now the threats have become more serious. Eve is an outspoken radio talk show host whose political and moral views may attract some listeners while strongly upsetting others. She knows that threats come with the territory but when a possible bomb is found on her porch, Detective Brent Lange is assigned the case. He finds Eve to be a strong and attractive woman who needs, but does not want protection. Her sisters are her strongest source of support; Cate who is a detective and Grace a forensic pathologist. When the threats escalate, will he be able to stop the threats before she is hurt or killed? Brent locates a possible suspect, but there seems to be more at play. Could someone else be using these threats to pursue their own agenda? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
A fast paced, race of a book. Loved the way the romance was realistic and the suspense kept the pages flipping. Really enjoyed this one!
I knew when I picked up this book it would be a great one, and boy, it sure didn’t disappoint. Irene Hannon did it again, you really don’t want to miss this one, it will keep you on the edge of your seat. It will also make you think that you are reading today’s headlines, so current!
Who wants Eve dead? Well, you will think you know, but don’t get two comfortable, the title will give you a hint, but even then I could not fantom all that happens here.
Beside the evil lurking, and surprises, yes big ones, there is the love of family. Sister’s there for one another that will warm your heart and put a smile on your face.
There is also the beginnings of an attraction between the victim Eve and the detective Brent, but most of all these people show a great faith in God.
This is suspense at it’s finest!
I received this book through Net Galley and LibraryThing and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.

This book could have been taken straight from todays headlines. It was a great book and kept me reading when I should have been doing other things. I recommend this book to all mystery/suspense readers.
I was given this book by Revell Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
I’m gonna give this book 5 stars because it’s just so exciting! When I get a Irene Hannon book I know I’m not gonna be disappointed! She’s just that good! Her stories always keeps me on the edge and holding my breath in certain scenes to see what happens next! There were some great twists and turns in this book that I never saw coming!
One thing is certain I never tire of saying this because this is what makes the book that much more exciting to me. I’m definitely honest in that regard.
Hannon creates such amazing characters and I loved in getting to know them. Sometimes, I often found myself praying that they’d manage to get themselves out of the situation the author has put them in. Other times I found myself a hollering at them. Do y’all ever do that? Holler at them I mean?
Really there all kinds of people.out there. When one does a profession one never knows from day to day what position they might find themselves in or who might be listening to you on the radio. You just never know who might take what the wrong way! In this regards Eve Reilly gets her fair share.
I’m already ready looking forward to her next book because she never disappoints me. Her stories are so exciting!
I am still thinking about this story long after it’s over. It will be hard to pick up another book after reading this one.! I stayed up late to finish it up I didn’t want to out it down!
I highly recommend this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own!
Irene Hannon expertly brings current events to life in her newest novel, Point of Danger. With an intelligent, passionate lead character in radio personality, Eve Reilly, she begins this story with a forceful impact and thrilling start. I immediately liked Eve and the introduction of police detective Brent Lange, right away, just sweetened the pot for me. His moody, internal musings and protective nature drew me in. I enjoyed the sparks flying between these two characters right from the start.
The suspense lulls midway through the story a bit, but Hannon doesn’t disappoint as she fills the story with suspenseful characters that keep readers guessing and a blossoming romance between Brent and Eve that readers will enjoy. I love how Brent Lange comes into his own through the eye-opening and tender conversations with Eve who’s patience and care further endeared her character to me.
As Hannon wraps up the story, she delivers the climax with a bang that will leave readers breathless and on the edge of their seats! The surprising revelation at the end was a definite highlight for me. My only regret is that this particular story didn’t have a bit more action and was a little heavier on the romance. However, I believe Irene Hannon is one of the best in the Christian suspense genre and this story further solidified that. This is a definite recommendation for suspense lovers and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!
Get ready for a fabulous new series by award-winning author Irene Hannon! Point of Danger, the first book in Irene Hannon’s new Triple Threat series, is filled with fascinating plot twists and a trio of strong, confident sisters who are highly supportive of each other.
When conservative and outspoken radio talk show host Eve Reilly finds a potential bomb on her front porch and the threats against her continue to increase, detective Brent Lange must determine who is out to silence Eve before it is too late.
Irene Hannon pens a tale that is extremely relevant to occurrences in our present society and creates a romance that is realistically portrayed as Brent struggles with issues from a past relationship even though he and Eve both are attracted to each other. When the mastermind is revealed, I was completely shocked. It is always fun when the author is able to keep me in suspense throughout the novel, and Irene Hannon delivers perfectly. She is one of my favorite romantic suspense authors, and I own every one of her romantic suspense books.
Point of Danger is highly recommended for fans of romantic suspense, and especially readers who enjoy books by authors such as Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Rachel Dylan. I can’t wait to read Eve’s sister Cate’s story in book 2 of the series, which releases in October 2021.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
Title: Point of Danger (A Triple Threat Novel #1)
Author: Irene Hannon
Pages: 384
Year: 2020
Publisher: Revell
My rating is 4 out of 5 stars.
Eve Reilly broadcasts her radio talk show that champions conservative values. She is articulate, well-read and can back up her viewpoint with multiple references. She isn’t afraid to engage with callers who offer their liberal stance on an issue. She receives her share of hate mail, but someone has taken that to a new level by leaving a bomb on her front doorstep. The bomb proves to be fake, but the message inside does not. It warns her to stop her radio talk show or else. The authorities are on the scene but can gain no clue to the identity of the would-be bomber. Then, another troubling incident occurs. The lead detective on her case warns her to be careful and watch her back as things have gotten much more dangerous. Eve, however, won’t be intimidated into stopping her show. She also finds the detective attractive and thinks they might have a future together if she can survive the present.
Brent Lange is a beat cop of ten years who is in his first year as a detective. He lands his biggest case yet with the Eve Reilly harassment case. He finds her attractive but will maintain a distance from her until the case is over, so he tells himself. That doesn’t last too long as the danger to Eve escalates and he wants to keep her safe. He traces down even the remotest of leads in an effort to solve the case, but the danger to Eve keeps growing. Can he find the culprit before serious harm confronts Eve?
I liked Eve’s spunkiness and passion for her beliefs. She unashamedly stands up for what she holds dear. She and Brent share a faith in God that they incorporate in their everyday lives. It isn’t evident only on Sunday. They also serve their community by giving of their time to help others. I admired Eve’s dedicated to keeping up with the political landscape, constitution rights and other government issues (a full-time job in itself). I look forward to reading about Eve’s sister Cate in the next book in the series, Labyrinth of Lies.
Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility.
As I was making afternoon tea, I thought Eve Reilly, the heroine in Point of Danger, needs a good cup of hot tea to help her de-stress after the week she’s had! It’s a wonder she survived all the high stakes drama but she’s got plenty of experience with overly dramatic people calling into her radio talk show and venting about politics and other controversial topics.
The story has a quick pace, snappy dialogue, and romance. The plot line is easy to follow but not elemental. Hannon drew me into the story in spite of it being very political and reading like a conservative news show on paper. It wasn’t what I was expecting so I was a bit disappointed. That being said, I would be interested in reading the next book in the series in hopes that it won’t reflect what’s taking place in our society at the time.
A copy of the book was provided by the publisher for this review. No compensation received.
I requested to read and review this book through Revell Reads. I am thankful to be chosen and this review is totally my own opinion and freely given.
I have read one other book by Irene Hannon in a very genre. So much so, that I thought it was a new author. This book is just as good as the other book and I am happy to have read it. This book is a suspense/mystery genre and is very well written. The characters are all believable and the story flows well. I was hooked from the very beginning. There are a lot of twists and turns and it keeps you guessing as to “who done it”.
The only editing errors I really noticed was the misuse of the word I instead of me. Otherwise, the editing was very well done. This is important to me as a poorly edited book can ruin a very good story.
I give this a 4 out of 5 star rating and would recommend this book to my frien
