Blackmailing my sexy boss, the one with a panty-melting smirk into being my plus-one for a wedding in my hometown while staying at my parents’ house for the long weekend—what could possibly go wrong?Duncan Willis is sexy and confident, the kind of man every woman notices. You know, the one with the to-die-for body. And then there’s the way his designer suits drape over his broad shoulders and … shoulders and big…well, we’ve all heard the rumors, the ones that say he’s up for any challenge.
Men like him don’t notice women like me, and they don’t date them. Until that one time that I catch him in a compromising position when I’m also in need of a last-minute date for a wedding…and then it’s not a real one, simply a plus-one.
It’s blackmail.

That’s what Kimbra Jones thinks.
Letting her believe she blackmailed me may not be the most conventional way to get on her radar, but I didn’t get this far in business without knowing when to seize an opportunity. If this sexy, little firecracker with perfectly kissable lips thinks she can trick me into attending her cousin’s wedding, I’m going to jump at the chance to be her plus-one.
A sexy, fun stand-alone from New York Times bestselling author Aleatha Romig. You love her darker side. Now it’s time to meet Leatha, the lighter side of Aleatha.
more
I freaking love Aleatha Romig! Her lighter Ones series is just as great as her darker reads. Her writing is simply flawless and her mind is intriguing. I love diving into the worlds that Aleatha Romig brings to life.
A fantastic read your all going to fall in love with Kimbra and Duncan!!! Five fabulous stars!!!
I floved the lighter side of Aleatha. The story is romantic and hilarious. Per grandma Helen It’s Amazon Prime!
Aleatha Romig is known for her darker side. However, her writing is not limited to thrillers as she demonstrated in the rom com Plus One. It is fun, sexy and will keep you laughing. I laughed so hard I cried. Plus One by Leatha, the lighter side of Aleatha is a must read.
Aleatha is a master with any genre she writes- her talent has no limits. Her stories and characters always have multiple layers which are slowly peeled back. Aleatha doesn’t give you characters but new friends who will continue to live in your heart even when the story is over. Her hero and heroine along with all the supporting bring the story alive with the quick wit throughout the book.
Kimbra is living her dream—in the big city with a job she loves. She refuses to be burned again but she has a little problem of not having a date to her cousin’s wedding.
Duncan is one of the owners where she works—hot, sexy and rich. He has a reputation of love and leave them—seizing opportunities when they are presented.
Together Duncan and Kimbra will discover things are not always as they appear—hurt, dreams and desire live in all of us.
I highly recommend Plus One- it will keep you laughing while falling for your next book boyfriend, Duncan
Good book
Aleatha’s lighter side…I enjoyed this series, but I’m looking forward to her new series, Web of Sin.
Wow
I love the intensity in this book, I’m used to this author and her more darker books and they are intense, but now she’s proven that she can write lighter books that also are intense.
* Fun storyline that progress nicely
* The characters is coming alive in the intense way the story is told. I feel like I know them and I’m sad to leave them.
* There’s no unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and the dialogues keeps the story moving forward.
* I love when the main characters are focused on each other only
* Love scenes that only make the connection even stronger, and steamy, blushing steamy
I had this in audio so I switch between reading and listening. The narrators was good, pronunciation was good and the voices comfortable to listen to.
5 stars all around
I loved this funny, steamy romance. Duncan & Kimbra’s story has everything you need in a romantic comedy. It’s laugh-out-loud funny and super sweet too. Reels you in from page 1. A great transition into a lighter side of Aleatha Romig.
Aleatha Romig is great no matter the genre. I loved the lighter writing of “Plus One”. The characters were awesome, the story was sweet, funny and steamy with a nice HFN ending. I cant wait to start the next one.
I’m so confused by Aleatha but in a very good way. Who knew she had this in her! LOL. She is one of my go to authors for all things Dark Romance. Although now, I think I’d like to see more of this from her. I know that may mean less of the stuff I love from her but I’m willing to accept that. LMAO!
I just loved Duncan in this book. He was a man who knew what he wanted and he went after it. Kimbra on the other hand was not prepared at what she got from him. These two had amazing chemistry and I love them together. The humor was great and the story was fantastic from beginning to end. The silver lining in all of this was I was really in the mood for a good office romance and I am happy to report that Aleatha has filled that need! I am looking forward to more of this side of her.
Easy read. H/h were likeable. There was no ‘major’ drama which made for an easy read. However, there could have been more depth to each character, especially Duncan. At times I felt the story tried to get a little steamier, but never quiet got there. Overall a good, light read. Enjoy!
Such a fun summer read!
What a fun sexy steamy read!
I got tyhis book because I loved Charile and Nox so much. This is a change from the the other series, but it is a really good change. Thourghely enjoyed this book.
Duncan and Kimbra work together and she needs him to go attend her wedding as a plus one to avoid the dreaded kiddie table. They pretend to date to keep her family off her back and avoid the twenty one questions from her parents. I liked Duncan and Kimbra together as a couple. They are both like minded and want certain things in life and aren’t afraid to chase their dreams. They have some pretty hot sexual chemistry as well and you will definitely be fanning yourself while reading!
As a fan of Jade Sinner, I was so happy to find out who they really were and imagine my surprise one half was the Dark Queen herself Aleatha Romig!! I previously read this story when it was a novella called Duncan the Deal. I enjoyed the story as a novella but loved it even more as a full length story!! It was nice to reacquaint myself with the family especially Grandma Helen.I want to be just like her when I grow up!! This is a sweet, feel good, insta love story that will have you smiling when it’s all said and done. This is the perfect kind of book for after a heavy read and you won’t be disappointed! I love when an author can switch up genres and Romig did an great job with story!! It was so nice to see a different and lighter side of Aleatha and I look forward to reading more of these books from her.
PLUS ONE is a delightful romantic comedy that is sure to have you laughing out loud. It’s guaranteed to have you smiling, sighing, or fanning your face. Every page is filled with enjoyment and entertainment from start to finish. The characters are engaging, and the storyline is loaded with charm and steamy passion. You’re sure to find pure satisfaction reading Duncan and Kimbra’s love story.
Filthy bookwith nothing but explicite sex. I could not finish reading.
A light, funny, sexy romp. Blackmail of her boss turns into fun and games for Kimbra and Duncan.
A weekend in her hometown with her parents is loving and hilarious with her grandma’s antics. They may just have found the family each other needs. Love the story and characters. First time reading Aletha Romig and it certainly won’t be the last.
I love a good romantic comedy and this one made me laugh a lot. Kimbra’s family angst and her crazy idea to seize what she sees as a great opportunity make for a hilarious running monologue. Her boss practically jumps at the chance to be blackmailed because he’s been hot for her for years. The attraction is hot and mutual, but Kimbra doesn’t think this could ever be more than pretend.
The complexities of their professional relationship go way beyond the normal boss-employee issues. Kimbra dated a colleague from another department for months before catching him cheating on her, then later accidentally witnesses Duncan canoodling with the same woman in an employee bathroom. That’s great leverage to get her a fake boyfriend, but it also presents unique complications later on at work.
The whole fake boyfriend bit is nerve-wracking for her, but her outrageous family accepts Duncan immediately and they easily pull off the charade. This is a fast-paced story and fun to read. Kimbra is likable from the beginning although it took me a bit to warm up to Duncan. There’s something about the way he speaks that’s distracting, kind of stilted I guess, but I was able to ignore it eventually and enjoyed the story overall.
07/25/2021 “Plus One” (nook) is a captivating story filled with longing, angst, drama and a HEA. The beginning of love between Duncan and Kimbra is unusual since she “blackmailed” him to help her. I chuckled throughout their weekend together and cried at other times.
