When present day American social worker Jessica Thomas is assigned her first case as a spirit guide, she’s excited to serve as the Spirit of Christmas Past for her client and prove she knows her profession well. Unfortunately, her mentor, the very hot, very single, and very Scottish Duncan Montgomerie has little faith in her ability and plans to catch her when she falls. As far as she’s … concerned, he’s going to be waiting a very long time.
Bachelor Duncan Montgomerie hails from late 18th century Scotland where he enjoyed life to its fullest, something he continues in death. Having been dead a while, he is well equipped to handle the afterlife where time doesn’t exist and phasing is the norm. What has him stymied is his connection to the uptight Jessica and the strange feelings he’s experiencing being around her, even though she refuses to listen to his advice. Duncan needs to figure out what it all means and fast because the rules change after death and the path Jessica is headed down could cost her her soul.

A twist on Dicken’s A Christmas Carol this series is set in Scotland and of course the Spirit Dimension.

Duncan is starting to fade and his only hope is Jessica. However this is Jessica’s first case and Duncan is her mentor, if only she had paid more attention in his classes.
However Jessica starts making a critical mistake of getting too close to Holly and the consequences of that are something Duncan can’t allow to happen. Not with the way he feels about her.
A delightful twist on the Spirit of Christmas Past, with fun, smiles, tears and quite a bit of sizzle.
A fun and sexy tale of the chemistry between two spirits. These two spirit guides were the spirits of Christmas Past helping people come to terms with their grief. As much as it was a rehash of a classic it was unique, sexy and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this story. I highly recommend buying this book.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Oh I luvs Christmas, and I especially luvs reading romantic stories told around the holiday!
In Pleasures of Christmas Past, Jess is a spirit guide in training. Being a social worker when she was alive, this is the perfect afterlife position. There is just one problem…she’s developed a major crush on her mentor and may have not paid as much attention in spirit class as she should.
Duncan has been a mentor for various spirit guides since the 18th century. Neither in life nor in death has he developed lasting feelings for a woman…that is until he meets headstrong Jess. She’s not like anyone he’s ever known, and the chemistry between them is soul shattering!
Their assignment is to help a young widow find happiness after losing her husband. But when Jess becomes too emotionally attached to their client, Duncan could end up losing more than just his protégé.
Lexi Post has written a magical romantic tale with a twist on a holiday classic. I can’t wait for the next installment!! Highly recommend!
Pleasures of Christmas Past is the first book in The Christmas Carol series and it is an intriguing read full of drama, romance, bittersweet memories, understanding and acceptance, laughter and love. It is a true magic-of-the-season heartwarming story. The author’s twist on the holiday classic tale is refreshing and an enjoyment to read. Jessica and Duncan are assigned by their boss to help a young widowed woman come to terms with the loss of her husband. She thinks she is capable of tackling the assignment on her own, relying on her work experience from her life, and he thinks she is in over her head and is standing by ready to catch her when she fails. They make an endearing team and it was fun to watch their interactions as they struggle to work together and fight the growing attraction between them. She is uptight, prim and proper and he is light-hearted, charming and fun. Jessica was a social worker when alive and now after her death she is training to be a spirit guide. She is confident she has the necessary skills and dedication to perform her duties without the assistance of a mentor and is determined to prove herself if she can stop being distracted by his presence. Duncan has been around for a long time, training new guides and using his dazzling smile and charm to woo the ladies. Having enjoyed many women throughout his existence, he has never been drawn to nor had true feelings for one until Jessica. Working with her to fulfill their current assignment by their boss is going to be tough if he cannot get her off his mind long enough to concentrate. Complications arise when multiple incidents reveal an entwined connection between their charge, Holly, and Jessica. She and Duncan both become concerned and wonder what their boss is up to. Was there an ulterior motive behind them being assigned to Holly and revisiting her past? I am looking forward to seeing how the next adventure plays out for the young widow and the spirit guides sent to help her.
