Me and trouble go together like Nutella and, well, anything.Meaning, as a team we offer no real benefit and are ultimately bad for you in the end, yet you just can’t help yourself from indulging.Yeah, hi there, my name is Stacy and I’m what some might call a miscreant. Though I’d prefer you compare me to the likes of a mischievous fairy. (Because I’m adorable and spritely and how many criminals … how many criminals can you say that about?) I mean no harm, it’s all in good fun. But some people – coughChadcough – have a hard time appreciating my good-natured, all-around lovable personality.
But on occasion, my fun becomes a little less… innocent. Like when the stick-up-his-butt police officer, whom I like to refer to as Officer McSexyPants, made an enemy in me. Tossing me in jail over a very obvious joke (because what kind of idiot legitimately tries to whore herself out to an officer in uniform, am I right?) might have sounded like a good idea at the time, but he was wrong. Oh, (cue evil laughter) he was so, so wrong.
To prepare you for this ride-along, I’ve composed a list of things you’ll need before beginning your journey: Extra undies (Because mom always said to wear clean underwear in case you were in an accident, and I foresee a lot of wreckage); A toothbrush (‘Coz I’m a dental hygienist and bad oral care habits bug me); A playlist of songs that get you pumped up for badassery (Mine is full of NSYNC – everyone knows they are the real OGs); And lastly, some pencil and paper (You’ll want to take notes for future use. Eventually it’ll be your turn to exact revenge on someone and I promise to give you good material).

Picking up where the last book finished, Playing Stacy tells the story of the character Stacy who readers were first introduced to in the first book of the series. Playing Stacy was a sweet, funny and enjoyable read that had a great heroine that was constantly witty throughout the story. I found that Chad and Stacy were perfect for each other with great chemistry. This was a great read and i cannot wait to read more from this author
Thought I would have a go at another one from this author. This has a bit of humor which I did like. Or should I say sarcastic type which I totally comprehend. Stacy is one of the characters you follow in this who will grab your attention. The other one is Chad. They are so different I thought but chemistry will do a number. With her being quite the character she is she can steal the attention quite often. Both characters I probably could take or leave it is the story that keeps my attention. He does have his issues too. This is one that you want to read from start to finish just to see how it all ends.
This book was a hoot. I simply couldn’t put it down. I laughed until I cried at Stacy’s antics and one liners. This author has quickly become one of my go to authors and I can’t wait to read what she’ll come up with next!
I really liked getting into Stacy and Chad’s heads. Now on the Carrie’s! 🙂
I love the heartfelt emotion that jumps off the pages of this story. Stacy and Chad’s story is amusing and sad, dangerous and explosive. A great read!
I’m not even sure where to start on this review. I loved the first book in the pretending series and wasn’t really sure how I would feel about this one. Stacy was not all that likeable in Pressing Adalyn, but at the same time she was the witty non filtered one that you couldn’t help but laugh with. So when I started this book I tried to start fresh, I’m so glad I gave her another chance!!!!
Stacy was…… Stacy, that’s the only way to put it. She was off the wall, super fun but at the same time you could see her vulnerable side and your heart ached for her. Some of the stuff that came out of her mouth had me laughing till tears were streaming down my face! She didn’t have it easy in this book, things happen and you break with her, but thru it you feel with her and realize she wasn’t all that bad, just the fun, sarcastic, unfiltered stacy that you fall in love with.
Chad! He was secretive yet you could feel his shame throughout the whole book. His past is just horrible and have you wanting to hold him and then break something. He needed to loosen up and that’s where stacy comes in and needless to say, by the end of the book, he is finally what we all knew he could be. I’m not saying that who he was was bad, he was just so controlled. He was a sexy cop and you really want to do something naughty to get in cuffs, (I don’t blame Stacy for that one) but he was also respectable. He try’s, you can feel him trying to let go and be what he wants to be, then bam! The shutters go up and he closed off again. It’s a whirlwind of emotions thru this whole boo
The plot….. Well I won’t go into too many details just because I don’t want to ruin it, but Stacy want to help chad be more laid back, but she really wants to be with him. There are tons of misunderstandings and things that happen you will dislike the author for putting the characters thru but in the end we get a HEA and ready to hug the author! One of my favorite parts always about 30% in and it was a part that made you realize that the Hero and Heroine belong together, it made you laugh and at the same time it will break your heart.
Here are a few quotes that I couldn’t help but love
““Oh, I was just trying to help you out but I don’t think I can. You’ll probably need a surgeon.” He sneered and lifted one eyebrow. “Well, I was going to try and help you remove that giant stick from your ass, but it’s so far up there that I think it will take the help of someone more qualified.”
Death by vagina. Hysterical. My headstone would read: Twenty-six years should have been enough For Stacy to learn not to mess with her muff She had it coming, so don’t feel distraught Karma’s a bitch. -Sincerely, her twat
Quote that breaks your heart!
““No!” I yelled, interrupting what I knew she was going to say. I wished there was a way to do this without completely lying, but I had to make sure I completely burned this bridge. I wouldn’t have the willpower to stay away from her, so I needed her to hate me. It was cowardly and weak, but I was desperate. “The only thing I feel towards you is physical attraction, but I can get those needs satisfied anywhere and by much more attractive women. Why would I settle for you? The only reason anything has happened between us at all was because you were convenient. Right place, right time. You’re too much work, though, so now I’m telling you to stay away. I don’t want you, so don’t embarrass yourself further by trying to convince me otherwise.”
Overall this is a book to not be missed. It was so hard to write this review without giving too much away, and my thoughts all over the place. I can’t even put into words how well this author did while writing this book. Being only her second book I have to say that she has a true knack for writing. She makes you feels for a character that previously you might not have liked. The humor in this book is just….. I can’t even describe it. Fans of Deborah Anastasia, and NA Alcorn will love the humor in this book! So if you’re wanting to read something super funny, but with real issues then read this book! You won’t be sorry! #2OCCJD
Ending up in jail after a night out, Stacy decides to give Chad a hard time after the way he dragged her and put her in the cell, when Stacy realises that she is stuck in that cell till the next morning when Chad comes back she gets crazy, although the other officers keep her company.
Stacy however becomes friends with Joe one of the officers who kept her company while she spent the night in the cell. Although he shouldn’t Chad feels jealous about what Joe has with Stacy and realises that he may have misjudged her. With Stacy wanting to get even with Chad she learns that Chad may also have a reason for the way he is.
The chemistry between Chad and Stacy is obvious to everyone around them and Chad and Stacy as well, once they stop pushing each other away you know the friendly fun they have at times and their chemistry will be amazing. Can’t wait to read Carrie’s story.
Well written, funny and romantic
Lol funny!
This was an entertaining quick read. I loved the characters which were well developed and the H and h had great chemistry.
Holy howdy. This book was great! Slow build with a passionate end. The character Stacy is that best friend we all have that has no filter. Chad is the hero with a horrible past that we all love. One great read
Stacy is an over the top, spontaneous, and amusing character that you will either really like or just get annoyed with. I personally liked her as she reminds me of a few friends rolled into one. I really liked the alternating points of view as it adds to the story. Chad is portrayed as a serious person with lots of demons but has a hidden caring side. Overall I liked this story. I didn’t read the previous story in the series. I don’t think you need to as this is a standalone but you’d have more background to some of the other characters. I think what’s holding me back from a higher rating is the relentless pursuit of someone when it appears that they’re not interested and how Stacy addresses the nurse.
This is the second book in the Pretending series and it was great! It had me hooked from page one. Stacy is hilariously funny, feisty, and stands up for what she believes in. Chad is a cop, a loner, and a bit of a hard a$$, but I loved his character. I liked the interactions between Chad and Stacy and their chemistry was palpable. This book was well written, laugh out loud funny, with strong characters, and it flows well from page to page. I highly recommend it and know that you will not be disappointed. This was my first read by Jenn Hype and I cannot wait to read more!
I enjoyed this book though it could have been portrayed better. It was well written and paced. It starts off great with some fun scenes. Stacy and Chad had real chemistry but was sadly overseen by their inability to act/expressed themselves around one other. I wish Chad wasn’t always made out to be a jerk with bipolar moods and that Stacy wasn’t so over-the-top immature since I really like them each. The whole push me/pull me between them is very repetitive and frustrating. Joe is funny and great friend even though he seems to always be on Stacy’s side regardless of knowing Chad more. I definitely want more of Chad and Joe’s friendship so we could see how much they meant to each other. Overall the characters were well developed and easy to like. I’m definitely looking forward to see what happens next specifically what’s in Carrie’s Closet.
I enjoyed Stacy and Chad’s crazy, angsty, drama and snark filled story! This was a good second book in the series. I like the angst and drama as long as you bring it all together adequately in the end, and for me this story succeeds in that space. Can’t wait to read the next in the series!

Sassy Stacy has met her match..
…Chad is her total opposite, the sparks begin to fly…
With push and pull, twist and turns,
…the journey of Stacy and Chad is entertaining, eye opening, intense..
Stacy deserved better
After reading the first book in this series, and feeling conflicted on the couple, I was really looking forward to Stacy’s story….she was such a standout to me, a fiesty firecracker with a heart of gold, who deserved a hero to match…I REALLY wished it had been the caring, loving always there for her Officer Joe….but sadly, no…what we got was Chad. Chad who looked at her like she was dirt at times, treated her like crap, constantly pushed her away (even after romantic encounters) Chad who pretty much BROKE her…yeah THIS is the guy who Stacy gets, the jerk who treats her like she is an annoyance, ignores her when she really needs help, and then somehow she loves him….sorry, didn’t buy it, not even a little.
I loved the premise, Joe and Stacy were fantastic and Stacy alone makes it worth the read. I bought the next one because it looks like I may get the hero I am hoping for, and I want to know…what is Stacy’s friend Carrie’s closet??!!!
I could not get through this book.
I started out really liking this book. There were some really funny parts in it in the beginning. But it seems like the minute Stacy meets Chad, it kind of falls apart. Who instantly hates someone that much? Apparently those two. It became kind of immature. And I know there was supposed to be real chemistry between the two of them, but it makes it hard to see when they act more like they can’t stand each other. Even after getting it on…I thought for sure that would relieve the tension, but it didn’t. It wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, but like I said, there really were some funny parts in it. My favorite was the drunk go fish card game.
