It’s good. But not great. There are so many time jumps it makes it hard to connect with the characters. And the end moves so quickly it was a bit disappointing. And it’s a happy end I just would have liked to see the wedding.
Playing it Safe is a sweet and fun story of Aaron and Savannah’s journey that is nothing but not smooth sailing.
Aaron is a recently single dad trying to raise two girls while keeping up with his career in the semi-pro hockey. Savannah is his neighbor. She is fiercely independent woman that is not only smart but beautiful. As the their story unfolds we see the ups and down they go through of balancing their lives.
A great read and that is delight and heartwarming

This is the 5th book in the York Bombers series, it can be read as a stand alone,
but if you read the previous you will get a better understanding and feel for the characters.
Aaron is a single dad and a widower who has just received his two girls and is struggling to juggle family life and his professional hockey career.
Savannah Weber lives next door and is very interested in her attractive neighbor.
The chemistry is electric, the characters are very well written as is the story.

3.5 Safe Stars, 4 Taking a Chance Stars. Aaron Malone is self-assured, confident, and aggressive. He goes after what he wants with a vengeance. Well, at least he does on the ice. In all other aspects of his life? Not so much. He plays it safe; he always takes the easy road, the path of least resistance. Now, due to a tragic accident, he is raising his daughters after almost three years of not seeing much of them. The older daughter is thirteen, the younger daughter is ten. At thirteen, Brooke is full of teenage drama and angst and she’s going to make sure everyone suffers right along with her. Nothing in life makes her happy, least of all their neighbor, Savannah, who Aaron is starting to notice and spend time with.
Savannah has issues of her own. She’s an only child who was shuffled back and forth between her parents. Oh, she knew they loved her, but they could never seem to put her before their careers. They tried, but they just weren’t all that good at it. She has decided that she isn’t cut out for family life. So what the heck is she doing getting involved with Aaron? He’s got a ready-made family! This cannot turn out well.
Playing It Safe is book five in The York Bombers series, but it can totally stand on its own. I haven’t read any book in the series before this one and I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. This is a fun, flirty, steamy story that has enough drama to keep it interesting but not so much that it makes your eyes roll. It reads quickly and is pure entertainment.
If you’re looking for an easy read that has you feeling all of the feels for both characters and the situation they’re in, give this a go!
There were many ups and downs for the main characters in the romance “Playing It Safe” (nook). Happiness, tears, angst and more happiness.
Next door neighbours who both want more but feel the other just wants to be friends. Aaron has his daughters now and everyday feels like he is failing and that they should be his only priority . Savannah is sweet and uncomplicated. Their journey is a bit. Bumpy with a sweat HEA.
Aaron has had it rough of late he is now raising his 2 girls after their mother was killed in a car accident and he is tying to juggle them along with his career as a semi pro player so adding a great looking gal next door is not on his list of things to do. Savannah has what she believes is everything she wants or needs and that excludes a partner especially one with a ready made family of 1 sweet young daughter and 1 snarly teenager. Alas for both of them they can’t stop attraction and they can’t help be drawn to each other which leads to many a high and low along with some great laughs and self reflection, overall a great read!

Aaron is still reeling from the news that his ex-wife has passed away but dealing with being a single father of two grieving daughters is a challenge he is determined to overcome. To make things more complicated his children had been living with his ex in another state so they are all trying to adjust to the new dynamics of their relationship.
Savannah enjoys her life as a successful single woman but there is something about her neighbor Aaron that inspires feelings in her that she had never felt before. There is no denying the chemistry between them but are Aaron’s daughters ready for another woman in their lives and is Savannah prepared for what being with Aaron entails?
There is not doubting that Savannah and Aaron belong together but their journey wasn’t without its ups and down.
This was a good story with a slow burn romance.
Aaron Malone’s ex-wife was killed in a car crash several months prior and he is now raising his two daughters, Brooke 13 and Isabelle 10. Brook is having a very hard time adjusting and is acting out horribly. Aaron is racked with guilt and self doubt over raising the girls.
Savannah Weber has lived next door to Aaron for the past year and is very attracted to him. He is attracted to her but thinks he can’t juggle dating and parenting.
They bumble their way through a relationship and eventually get their HEA.

I love hockey romance, hockey players just have that something extra. Aaron is a single dad whose daughters have recently come to live with him after their mom’s death. He’s the “pops” of his team… a mature player. Savannah is his next-door neighbor not looking for a relationship, especially not kids. This was a slow burn because Aaron is socially inept, not really knowing how to romance the girl. The storyline was good and enjoyable.
This is book five in The York Bombers series. Aaron has hit a few bumps in personal life but hockey is his one constant. He hits another speed bump when he finds himself a single Dad to his two daughters. Savannah is pleased with her life and enjoying all it has to offer. An instant family with the sexiest man ever next door and his two daughters, she finds herself anxious to sign on up. Can a new family dynamic work for everyone? A great read and addition to the series. Enjoy!

Another hockey romance from Lisa B. Kamps and as usual, its a five star read!
Aaron is nearing the end of his hockey career at 34 and has recently become the primary caregiver for this two girls. He hasn’t made time for love since his divorce but has certainly made time to get to know his neighbor Savannah, but only on a platonic level.
After a steamy kitchen kiss during a BBQ Aaron held with his hockey buddies, they begin to forge a relationship beyond friendship.
I enjoyed this story line and found it realistic that Aaron would hold back from love after being hurt by his wife and making his girls a priority. Despite Aaron’s hesitation, Savannah was a strong woman that just couldn’t and wouldn’t let him get away. Throw in two meddling daughters who want to see their dad happy and we are guaranteed a happily ever after.

I really enjoyed this read. The characters, Savannah and Aaron, are interesting, well-developed, and have chemistry. The story is interesting, well-written, with a happily ever after. In addition to receiving an arc, I purchased the book for my collection.
Aaron has become a single father recently and is having a tough time with his oldest daughter, thirteen year old Brooke. His neighbor, Savannah, quietly has a major crush on him. Aaron has his eye on her as well but just sits back and let’s life pass him by while trying to keep up with his parenting duties and hockey. I like Aaron, he is just so lost, but so protective and sweet. Savannah is independent and witty and loving. The book is well written with wonderful characters and a great story.

Aaron’s got his hands full – he plays semi-pro hockey, and is full-time single dad to two daughters. Savannah, his next-door neighbor, has a successful career, good friends, and a great social life. She doesn’t want kids or a family. They’re attracted to each other, and begin a physical relationship. Before long, he has feelings for her, but is so afraid of being hurt again. This is a really enjoyable story. Savannah is strong, independent, smart and gorgeous. Aaron is sexy, a great dad even when he has doubts about it. I love that his mother isn’t afraid to kick his butt. And the trick that she and the girls played on Aaron and Savannah – absolutely priceless! I thought that the story was a little slow at the beginning, but I knew that this author would deliver, and once it took off, the story just flew.

This is book 5 in the York Bombers Hockey series and it features Aaron and Savannah. Neighbors for a year and extremely attracted to each other, he’s fearful of taking that plunge back into dating, especially with two daughters depending on him. Savannah is fairly easy going, independent and her own boss. She’s a little scatterbrained as far as her sexy hockey player neighbor is concerned because watching him just does it for her. He has issues. Trust issues, dating issues, parenting issues and so on. It’s a good thing his mother is around to help with his daughters because her advice is invaluable to him.
I love the story line! I would have loved Aaron even more if he hadn’t been so fickle and clueless about everything. I almost find it irritating to read about him. Anyways, the story line was fantastic and so are most of the characters.
