“Playing It Safe” is a sports romance read and was my first book by Lisa B. Kamps. As a huge fan of all things hockey romance, this book was my calling my name. Single dad Aaron is struggling hard to raise his two daughters and feels like he’s failing spectacularly at it. Not wanting to complicate his life, he’s staying away from all women. That is until She melts his resolve. Savannah can’t help but notice her sexy neighbor. He’s a tall glass of ice tea on a hot summer day. She wants him bad but doesn’t think she has a chance. Their attraction is strong and although they try to fight it, they end up falling hard and fast for one other. It isn’t easy but they do get their happily ever after and it is sweet.

Another fantastic book by Ms. Kamps! This is a wonderful hockey romance that has it all! Happy, sad, drama, angst, single parent, heat, and a HEA! You won’t be disappointed. Can be read standalone or as part of the series. I read an arc copy of this book.
This is my third book from this author and definitely not my last! I really liked the story of Aaron and Savannah.
Aaron is a single dad, with just recently getting the girls after his ex wife’s death. It is difficult dealing with his girls, especially the teenager. Savannah is his neighbor and only now do they start interacting with each other. They are interested in each other, with both fumbling their way into a hookup type relationship on the down low. Eventually they start dating and even his teenage daughter is okay with it. There is a misunderstanding where Aaron is in the wrong, which leads to Aaron and Savannah not being together for a short time. Aaron’s mom and his daughters trick him and Savannah to get them in the same place, which leads to a reconciliation.
Enjoyed this book and loved the epilogue.

Another great addition to another great series by Lisa B Kamps. She has done it again by giving us another enjoyable book with enjoyable characters. I always love when kids are in the mix because they always bring their own bag of fun with them.

This story is so hot and refreshing at the same time. I love that you feel like the characters could be a story about you.

I love the “York Bombers Hockey” books. I loved this and have hoped Lisa would right a good story for Aaron. As a player for the hockey team the York Bombers he has been mentioned in previous stories so there was a glimpse of what he has been going through with his personal life and family. This was a great story from beginning to end. After the accident he now has his girls full-time and doing the best he can to care for them. I could not imagine what he and his girls were going through. Savannah sees how he is struggling and helps. I loved how the story and the relationships developed. They are perfect together! I love this book because he finally gets his HEA, with a wonderful caring person and she now has a family. My favorite part is the epilogue. This was such a fantastic story and so well written. Just a fantastic story!!
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.*
This is definitely my favorite of the series!!!! I loved the angst and the realness of his relationship with his daughters, the troubles that they had to endure and how their relationship changed for the better! this couple was simply perfect for each other from the beginning starting with the very first kiss until the epilogue.. I loved the hockey parts of the book , it gave a perfect example of what an athlete has to juggle between work and their personal life!
Another great addition the York Bomber series! The thing I love most about Lisa B. Kamps’ books are the characters are so real. The struggles Aaron faces with the aftermath of his ex-wife’s death really pulls at your heart strings. So many single parents face the difficulty of doing what is best for their children. Aaron has to learn to balance a demanding career, raising a couple daughter’s – who lets face it teenage girls are no picnic, and learn to love again. Good thing Savannah is just the right girl to help him through it… With a little help of his mom and daughters.
Another great addition to the York Bombers series! Every story is a winner and this one is one of my favorites!
Aaron, considered an “older”player in hockey, is struggling to raise his two daughters, whom he’s only seen irregularly since his divorce, on a full-time basis since the tragic accidental death of his ex-wife. To say this is a big adjustment for Aaron is an understatement. While his youngest daughter, Isabella (who is 10), is trying her best with the new reality of living with her dad after losing her mother, his older daughter, Brooke (who is 13 and fits the stereotypical young hormonal teenager) is at the other end of the spectrum…angry at everything and takes it out on her dad, repeatedly. Not an easy way to be thrust into full-time parenting.
Even if Aaron wasn’t a professional hockey player, this would be a challenging situation for such a young (34-year-old) man. It’s one thing to deal with very young children, it’s another to be thrown into the young teen years…not for the faint of heart! Add in that he’s busy many evenings playing games or on the road with the team, this is a really difficult situation. He wants to do what is best for his daughters…bit it isn’t easy.
Savannah, his next-door-neighbor, is drawn to Aaron and, in truth, Aaron is drawn to her. But it’s more complicated than that…he’s a package deal.
Savannah is uncertain of where she fits into Aaron’s life. Aaron sends mixed messages…he wants to be with her but his daughters are his priority. How can she compete with that? How can she have a relationship with him?
Some of the funniest and also most poignant moments happen when Aaron’s mom, Carol, steps in and gives him some motherly advice. Carol tells it like it is to Aaron…which he sorely needs to hear.
This is a heartwarming story with a lot of fun, and like real life, not so fun moments thrown in. I’ve enjoyed all of the stories in this series and they just seem to get better and better which is saying a lot because they’re all wonderful!
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.
