Their one-night stand comes with a big price…Travis Bankard is the quiet, reserved center for the York Bombers. He’s known for being soft-spoken and big-hearted, something the rest of the team continuously teases him about—until he takes some playful advice to heart and goes to extremes to rid himself of his reputation.Cara Hudgins has always been the misfit among her small social circle. Quiet … misfit among her small social circle. Quiet and introverted, she’s more comfortable around animals than people. And she would never, ever agree to a no-strings-attached hook-up—until one night, fueled by alcohol and her friends’ encouragement, she does. Unfortunately, her one night with the adorably shy hockey player comes with a big price she never saw coming.
Afraid and alone, Cara tracks down Travis to give him the news of her pregnancy. She doesn’t expect anything from him, especially not a relationship. But beneath his big heart lies a will of steel–and he has no problem changing the rules of the game when it comes to playing for love.

Playing For Love is a sweet and heartwarming romance that leaves you wanting more of this young couple. The sixth book of the series does have a different feel to it, but it suits this couple perfectly, and we get to see Travis and Cara grow together, and also individually. As with many of the books by this favourite author of mine, I was able to relate with some of things in this story and it made me love the couple even more. We also get to catch up with some of the other characters, and we’re left wondering about Ben who is very vocal about the situation Travis and Cara find themselves in. Hopefully, we’ll get his story soon!

Although the main characters in this latest addition to the York Bombers hockey series are younger than the characters in the other stories, this is a wonderful, sweet, heartwarming love story!
Travis is a twenty-two center for the York Bombers. He is known for being quiet and reserve. Cara is a quiet and introverted young woman, most comfortable around the animals that she sees as a vet tech.
One night changes their lives forever.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a “young love” story but ALL of the books in this series are wonderful and this is no exception. Watching them process through the change that has been brought to their lives is heartwarming. No cynicism, just a wonderful love story!
Playing for Love is a sweet hockey romance that I know you will love.
One night changed both Travis and Cara’s lives and throughout this story you will be rooting for them to find their happily ever after. They are honest and caring people, but they are both quiet, shy and reserved and because of that their relationship starts out a bit awkward since neither of them are good at communicating their thoughts and feelings. Once they finally give into their mutual attraction, their relationship blooms.
Love the York Bomber series! Playing for Love is the story of Travis & Cara. Their story didn’t have the same excitement as the other book, but it did have a relatable storyline. Travis is the center for the Bombers. You would think as a professional athlete he would be confident and probably a little cocky. But not Travis – he’s shy and comes across as sheltered and naive (I can picture his pink cheeks when he blushes). Cara is an introvert. One night at the bar she decides to step out of her comfort zone and it becomes a night that will change their life forever
I adored Lisa B. Kamps’ PLAYING FOR LOVE. It is the sixth book in The York Bombers series. Center, Travis Bankard, and vet tech, Cara Hudgins, both uncharacteristically have a one-night-stand. The evening leaves them with a pregnancy and uncertain future. This sports romance is suitable for adult audiences.
Lisa B. Kamps did an amazing job with her character development. Both Travis and Cara are introverted, naive, and socially awkward. They are not the type to sleep around. Fortunately, they wound up with each other and were a good fit. This made for an interesting scenario because neither of the two are experienced in relationships, causing some misconceptions. I’m an animal lover, so I related to Cara.
The plot was interesting and believable. They had more issues to deal with then the pregnancy. I appreciated the role that previous characters in the series played in this story. The hockey scenes were well-written and easy to visualize. I love the epilogue. I would love to see a book that takes place after it to know what happened or maybe a spin-off series of the kids. PLAYING FOR LOVE was a worthwhile and heartfelt read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I love the “New York Bombers” stories! This is book 6 in a stand alone series with some interrelated characters. I enjoyed this story a lot! This is Travis and Cara’s story. It is a sweet story about two people brought together by fate but truly make a wonderful couple. Almost as they were meant to be together from the very beginning without the surprise. I really enjoyed this well written story! I cannot wait for the next story from this incredible writer!

Oh to be young and to have the world at your feet, until BAM! Hit with the unexpected! I truly enjoyed Travis & Cara’s story. They were realistic characters with awesome friends (his, turned hers. I still wanna know what crawled up Ben’s hinny.). I didn’t care for Cara’s roommate, but it gave the story a little drama, until she was shut down! YA (fist bump!)! Their story and timeline was fun! Great addition to the York Bombers Hockey series!
Awww I just love Travis! This is such a heartwarming and sweet story! Travis may be only 22 but he handles everything beautifully as soon as Cara comes back into his life. What was meant to only be a one night stand was far more than either of them could have imagined. Travis and Cara both accept what fate has decided for them which such a love and grace that is far beyond their years. This whole series is amazing but you definitely don’t want to miss this one!
