If you’re planning on falling in love… to the seemingly invincible hottie.
you’d better be sure…
Caleb doesn’t do emotions. Growing up the underdog, he’s learned the hard way to build up an impenetrable wall. Perfect for business. Disastrous for relationships. He’s never worried about it before—not until he finally gets behind Sadie’s armor and begins to fall.
… someone is there to catch you.
Both guarded and vulnerable, Sadie and Caleb are complete opposites. Or are they? Shocked at their undeniable connection, can they ever admit to wanting more? That all depends on what they’re each willing to risk.

Whenever I sit down with any of Jill Shalvis books, I feel like I’m sitting down with old friends!! The characters are always that charming and real! Whether it’s a new series, a continuation of a series, or a stand alone! She is the only author that has that affect on me with every book she writes!
Mercedes Alyssa Lane aka Sadie works at a day spa. She closed up shop and was headed down the street one evening when she noticed “Suits” (Caleb Parker) doing something. Now, Suits was one gorgeous specimen of a man, but Sadie and him were like oil and water. (That’s what Sadie thought, but, her friend that ran the Taco Truck that her and suits frequented kept telling her that Caleb and her were perfect for each other.) She couldn’t take the suspense any longer as to what he was doing, so she investigated. There he was trying to coax a three-legged dog to him that was afraid, wet and malnourished.
Sadie and Caleb wind up co-parenting the dog. Not only did that dog steal their hearts, but stole mine as well, especially the name Lollipop!
These two quickly find out that they are in fact not oil and water, but more like fireworks together!! I loved the bantering between Caleb and Sadie, as well as the hot chemistry between the two! Another amazing story by Jill Shalvis!!
Sadie and Caleb were a trip. These two were perfect foils. Great read.
Playing for Keeps is the 7th book in the Heartbreaker Bay series, however, it can be read as a stand alone.
In this book you are introduced to Caleb and Sadie, two individuals who are complete opposites on the outside, but come to find they many not be all that different after all.
Jill Shalvis does an outstanding job at making you instantly fall in love with Sadie, Caleb and the stray dog, Lollipop. I became so invested in these characters I could not put this book down, I had to know what was going to happen next. If you love stories and character that come to life right before your eyes this is definately the book for you!
Playing for keeps by Jill Shalvis is adorably romantic and funny. I can always depend on Jill for all the feels. Her writing is fantastic and I can’t get enough.
This amazing book is coming out January 22nd and it will not disappoint. So add it to your TBR pile, pre-order because you need Caleb’s story.
Okay shhhhh I’ve totally already said too much…
I love Jill and her Heartbreaker Bay novels.
Sadie has some family issues being the black sheep and Caleb is still trying to overcome being the underdog. Throw in a dog rescue and the quirky neighbors, along with some mistaken thought processes and you have a great novel.
Jill does it again in this book. Two people who are oil and water but in reality are more alike then they think. I enjoyed reading about Sadie and Caleb and how they overcome their pasts to find love. Sadie has a lot more things in her mind to overcome to see what a great catch Caleb is. She comes around in the end. This book does show how people can be judgmental even when they think they aren’t being that. You can’t always tell a person by how they dress and you can’t compare one person to someone else. You will fall in love with Lollipop, she is the cutest dog! It was great to see Spence again, it’s been a few books since he’s been in one.
*I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
