A small town girl. A big league ball player. A whole new ball game.JakePulling in eight figures a year as star pitcher for the Chicago Jaguars, there’s no shortage of parties, booze, and women. I’m a beast on the mound and between the sheets but when my social media presence becomes a major problem, the team’s owner brings in a PR expert to clean up my image. Andrea Diggers is the complete … Andrea Diggers is the complete opposite of every girl I’ve ever met. She’s smart, classy, and completely off limits. Which makes me want her even more. I’ve always loved a challenge, and Andrea has no idea I’m about to get her to play…on my terms.
Andrea
Cleaning up Jake Napleton’s image may be my hardest assignment yet, and not just because of the secrets he keeps deeply buried. Working alongside the six-foot-six arrogant, filthy-mouthed man is a challenge in restraint. He screams poster-boy for favorite mistakes with his chiseled abs and rippling muscles. And I want to take him up on every dirty word he’s said. But he’s not the only one with something to hide. Our attraction may be immediate. Potent. Dirty. But is it enough to withstand our shadowed pasts?
Playing Dirty is a full length sexy standalone with an HEA.

This is the first book I’ve ever read by Mr. Miller. It will not be the last. Jake and Andrea are compelling characters. Even though I knew where Andrea was coming from/leading up to right off, I was intrigued by the path she took to get there. This is a great debut by a great talent and it made me excited to read this author’s other works and to see what else he has in store.
This is the first book I’ve read by Mickey Miller, and I’m so glad I did! I’ve never read a romance book written by a male author before so I was a little sceptical on how the woman’s point of view would be written. All I can say is Holy Shit! He hit this out the park!! I was pulled in from the very beginning. I loved how there was background given on both Andrea and Jake. The story of the “bad boy” and the “good girl” has been done so many times before, but this one, this one, was EVERYTHING!! Hot, sexy, funny and serious. I absolutely loved it! All the feels!! I laughed, cried, and was hot n bothered! Everyone needs to read this series! I can’t wait to read more by Mickey!! #OneClickBook!
Enjoyed this read.
This may be by far one of my favorite sports romances I have read to date. Amazing story and writing.
This was such a disappointing book. The blurb got my attention but the book didn’t live up to my expectations. It was very boring for at least 95% of the book. The whole premise PR was repeated over and over. Change Jakes bad PR reputation but there was nothing really that bad that couldn’t be explained easily. The whole PR angle of the book had no substance. None of the characters held my interest except an adorable little boy named Tate. Quite frankly he’s the reason why I gave it two stars. Andrea behaved like a teenager who was afraid to tell her mother that she liked boys instead of a grown woman who didn’t even live in the same state as her mother. For me this book was a hard no. I have another one of authors books in my TBR list. I hope that it a better story. Until next time y’all happy reading.
Decent story
A decent story about lust, love and baseball. I wish the heroine would have been more upfront about her secrets rather than let her ex manipulate her into being afraid.
Did not like this book at all. Unrealistic.
Well played! Having taught in Blue Island and south side inner city Chicago, ,growing up on the south side loving the White Sox everything in this story rings true. Was hard to put this down.
Now ‘Playing Dirty’ is a book that hits it out of the park. It’s full of real emotions that will make you smile and maybe even blush.
This book is written well, Mickey Miller gives you the feels with the right mix of fun, seriousness and steam. It’s full of great characters with real emotion surrounded by great descriptions and sets the scene extremely well. Making it easy to lose yourself in their world.
Our protagonists Andrea and Jake reel you in from the very beginning with their witty, flirty banter and amazing chemistry.
I highly recommend this title and author Mickey Miller!
Jake Napleton and Andrea Diggers are a match made in baseball heaven. Andrea is a recent graduate from the University of Tennessee who is working her first internship at Green PR in Chicago. Her boss, Steve, isn’t aware that Andrea went to university on a softball scholarship. Jake Napleton is the all-star pitcher for the Chicago Jaguars and they’re well on their way to making the World Series. Jake recognizes Andrea since Jake’s sister played against Andrea. Andrea is tasked with getting Jake on board with cleaning up his public image before he gets released from his MLB contract for his antics.
I really loved Jake and Andrea and that the story isn’t as typical as many all star/pro athlete books in the sense that Jake isn’t wildly promiscuous. He doesn’t apologize for the media attention, because for the most part he isn’t really doing anything wrong.
I really enjoyed this book but was slightly disappointed in the grammar and syntax errors. There is also at least one plot issue. Towards the end of the book Andrea is described as having her hair in a ponytail and then a few sentences later, her hair is pulled into a makeshift ponytail by Jake.
I’m not an editor but I do notice any errors in writing and they tend to change my perspective on the quality of the book and whether or not I’ll recommend it to a friend. As an author, your word is literally your income and you rely on reviews and word of mouth. This book would be a 5 star for me if it was edited to fix the mistakes.
Jake Napleton is the star pitcher for the Jaguars, he’s 6’6″ with an attitude to match his size. Don’t dig into his past, he doesn’t want you there! Andrea Diggers was a star softball player in college and an intern at a PR firm now. When she is hired to “clean up” Jakes social image, she knows what she wants to do. She wants to show his “softer” side, which requires digging in his past, nope, not gonna happen! Jake just wants to get her between the sheets, until he gets to know her more. He finds that he really enjoys her company. What Jake doesn’t know, is Andrea has a past too, one that wants her back and will do whatever it takes to manipulate her and her family. It may even take Jake down in the process. This book has hot sexual energy, attitude, love and laughs and a whole lot of drama! I could not put this book down, I read it in one sitting! Pick this book up, Jake, Andrea and Mickey don’t disappoint! I highly recommend this book and all others by this author!
This is so not your everyday sports jock story. A professional athlete that has hidden his past and nurtured the bad boy image the press loved to see now sees a reason to change. It isn’t just the hot little number it’s the look and the attitude coming from his team. Nope not that team. Although he does have that teams support during everything. This is a great read made all the more special due to the author giving us the backstory on these two. Andrea has her own part in this and both of them have stuff to work on but they just might be okay.
I haven’t read this author’s work before and I don’t know why. There is so much more story than passion in this sports read and that made it special. I love his style and look forward to more of his work.
Playing Dirty was a fantastic beginning to a new sports romance series. The story was well developed never rushed and the characters were so easy to fall in love with. I started reading this book and I couldn’t put it down. This is a story about two people being brought together and bringing out the best in each other while also learning to trust and discovering that you can not judge others by public perception or even your first impression. Jake and Andrea are complex well developed characters that have passion, heart, intensity, humor, chemistry and real emotions. They are unique characters and they both have unique back stories. The secondary characters are also well developed and bring life in to the story as well. This is not the same old sports romance told a different way. It’s a new and emotional, realistic sexy read that touches on so many issues that we as a society are faced with today. It will engage you from the start and it is written in a way that you will feel every emotion from the characters. This is a fantastic debut and Mickey Miller is an incredible author who is at the top of my must read list. This is one you don’t want to miss out on.
What a debut novel coming from Mickey Miller. From the very beginning I love how we were learning the background of both Andrea and Jake. It goes to show you that you should never judge a book by its cover, just because it’s all over social media doesn’t mean it’s true. Getting to know what Jake was truly about deep down touched my heart and finding out what Andrea went through and how she came out stronger shows a lot about the woman she is. These two together were absolutely amazing together and loved their story. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
My first where the characters were Baseball players. Enjoyable read from beginning to end. The characters interaction was witty, romantic at times interwoven with a whole lot of steamy. HEA. Perfect! Definitely recommended. A Mickey Miller fan big time…NOW!!!
Absolutely loved it
