Jesse Lee is the worst! He’s a multi-millionaire, triple-platinum-selling, Grammy-Award-winning man-slut—a worldly, self-indulgent heathen. I wouldn’t sleep with him if he were our last chance to ensure survival of the human race. The only reason I put up with him is because he’s my boss’s brother. Whatsherface is one of those holier-than-thou types. She’s bossy, has a horrific singing voice, and … horrific singing voice, and she’s so ordinary, she practically blends in with the eggshell-colored walls—the complete opposite of anyone I’d bang. The only reason I put up with her is because my career is on the line.
Playing by Heart is an enemies-to-lovers romance where opposites not only attract, they ignite.

I didn’t read the blurb of this book before reading it and I’m so glad I didn’t. It was a sweet, funny, heart breaking read and the author really out didnher self of Jesse and Bethany’s characters. They were well developed, insightful and just all around amazing characters. The secondary characters were a huge spotlight in the story and I really hope we get to see them get books.
I’m not really a huge rock start romance fan but I couldn’t get enough of Jesse. He was so complex and the way the author made him view Love really broke my heart but at the same time it added a unique aspect to the story and to Jessie. I won’t say much more about the story but I really did enjoy all aspects of it. 5 stars #2OCCJD
JB Salsbury, I want to live in your head when you’re writing! Once again you kept me up late reading. And what a read it was!! I think I am going to have to take down my JT poster and replace it with Jesse Lee.
Jesse Lee has once again woken up with no memories of the past week. All he knows is he had cold water thrown at him and girls in his bed. He doesn’t see a problem here but his manager and record company see a BIG problem with it. Now he finds himself detoxing in a room at his brother’s house with a past painful memory staring at him. He has been given 90 days to get it together or he is done. Surprise Arizona is a lot different from Los Angeles. No glitz and glamour, just his brother Ben or Pastor Ben as he is known, an adorable little girl named Elliot, and an ordinary girl who volunteers for the church and takes care of Elliot. His ninety days is either going to kill him or make him look at things (and people) differently.
Bethany thought she had the love of her life. She is the marrying kind of girl and thought he was it. Now, she is without a car, (there may or may not have been a fire) and throws herself into volunteering at the church and taking care of the Pastor’s daughter. But a rude and crude addition to the house has her on edge. She avoids him as much as she can until what she mistakes for moans of pain turn out to be a whole different kind of moaning. Her avoidance is short lived when she is assigned to drive him around to meetings and deal with his overall grumpiness. It’s only ninety days of her life. Or maybe not.
This is a romantic story that doesn’t start out that way. Both are happy annoying each other, her with her singing and him with his constant focus on sex, but soon find themselves slowly working themselves into each others heart.
Thank you JB Salsbury for bringing us a story that will make others believe that enemies can become so much more.
“Being one of a million women isn’t the same as being someone’s one-in-a-million, no matter how amazing the sex would be.”
I am usually not a big fan of enemies-to-lovers or books about musicians. However, I am a big fan of this author, so you know I had to read this book. Right from the start I was hooked to the story and loved how much fun it was. This book is about Jesse Lee, an arrogant/cocky bad boy rockstar, who has again hit rock bottom. His manager and label company had enough and it is time for some major changes in his life, if he wants to continue being a star. I have to admit I didn’t like him in the beginning, he was very entitled and rude. Bethany is the exact opposite. She is very nice and sweet, and is a bit naive in some aspects. They say opposites attract, they definitely did in this book, but it really took some time to get to that point. I enjoyed their banter a lot, and I was happy to see that Bethany could hold her own with Jesse.
“You have me now. You’ve owned me from the start. There’s no playbook on how to love you, so I’ll keep playing by heart.”
Playing by Heart was a very fun and light contemporary romance. I was happy that Jesse’s rockstar status and career weren’t in the forefront the entire book. The author took her time for the characters to hate, and eventually love each other. The characters also grew as individuals and healed from past hurts. There was no dull moment in this book, and I loved how the story developed. I also enjoyed all the side-characters, and I wouldn’t mind some of them getting their own stories. I especially loved Bethany’s best-friend/roommate Ashleigh, she was loyal and crazy to a fault. I highly recommend this book to any romance reader. Definitely pick this book up if you are in need of a funny and sexy romance.

Are you a fan of the rockstar romance story?? Then you should pick up JB Salsbury’s newest standalone novel…Playing By Heart!!
What happens when Jesse Lee hits rock bottom and doesn’t know how to turn it around?? This is his story and what he goes through to make his life better.
Playing By Heart is an emotional rollercoaster for rockstar Jesse Lee. This is his story of redemption, love and moving on. I felt all my emotions when reading this book. I cried, laughed (Ashleigh is hilarious), swooned and even fell in love. I love when a story can make me feel so many things. It really makes you feel a part of these characters lives.
I will say I was slightly nervous after starting this book, that it would be like other rockstar romances I have read and that I wasn’t going to warm up to Jesse. I am so glad I stuck with the story, because it was so much more and I ended up falling head over heels for Jesse.
Playing By Heart is a standalone novel told in Dual POV. This book is a book you don’t have to read any other book to fully enjoy this story. I am hoping that we see a book for some side characters in the future though. I thought the flow and pace of the story worked well for these characters. I was also immersed into the story from the beginning. I finished this book in less than a day. I didn’t want to put it down.
In this book we follow Jesse Lee and Bethany. Jesse Lee is a famous musician who has taken a downward spiral with his life. He has sunk so far down his music label and band don’t even want to back him. So his manager Dave steps in and takes over. Landing him on his brother’s doorstep. Let’s just say that isn’t a happy thought for Jesse. Him and his brother are estranged. That is also where he meets Bethany. Bethany is Ben’s nanny for his 4 year old daughter. She is the girl next door, not someone a famous rockstar would be interested in….or would he?? This is an opposites attract story, because Jesse and Bethany couldn’t be any more different if they tried. Can they get past their differences and find happiness?? What happens when secrets are revealed?? Can these two get their HEA?? Read this fantastic story to find out.
I would definitely recommend this book to all rockstar romance story fans. Also if you are a fan of JB Salsbury’s books, you don’t want to miss this story!!
