Jaxon Holland is more than a top-scoring center for the Las Vegas Wolves—he’s also the biggest “player” on the team. Women love him, flock to him, lust for his sculpted body. Yeah, life is good for this hockey player. Or it was until lately. After blowing a key play in what may have been the biggest game of the season, the fans sour on Jaxon. Good thing memories are short, right? Uh, they’re not … short, right? Uh, they’re not when a widely popular sports blogger, known simply as Mr. Hockeypants, calls Jaxon out and places all the blame for the loss on him.
Life goes from bad to worse, and Jaxon wants to get away.
Good thing one of his teammates has a beautiful, secluded beach house he can escape to. Sand, sun, surf, and lots of alone time sound good to this disgruntled centerman.
Only problem is the beach house is already occupied—by beautiful and spunky Cara Milne.
Cara and Jaxon are off to a rocky start after an extremely awkward first meeting. Yeah, these two pretty much hate each other. But Jaxon, forever a “player” at heart, vows to win his housemate over.
What he doesn’t know is Cara is Mr. Hockeypants! His worst enemy, the bane of his existence!
And she’s determined that he never finds out.
Too bad keeping a secret is more slippery than ice, especially when you start falling in love with the guy you almost destroyed.
Player on Ice is the fifth standalone novel in the bestselling Boys of Winter hockey romance series.

An enjoyable sports romance read that doesn’t disappoint. Being a fan of this genre I was highly entertained with the many banter that Jaxon and Cara shared throughout this fun read. Great chemistry leads to some sexy and sweet loving. I liked the development of the characters and look forward to more of this series.
This was a really enjoyable enemies-to-friends, friends-to-lovers story.
Cara Milne writes a hockey blog that is not always complimentary to say the least. One of her posts rips into Las Vegas Wolves player Jaxson Holland. Jackson seemed to be a little spacey the final game of the playoffs and she accused him of being high. Jackson was distracted but has never been high at a game so he is very hurt and angry. The team’s fans are also ganging up on him. He decides to get out of town and heads to Noel Sandlund’s beach island off Florida for most of the summer. Cara was supposed to go to the same beach house with Noelle, but she cancelled at the last minute. Cara and Jaxson declare a truce and become friends. Eventually they act on the attraction between them, but she keeps secret about her blog. They have a blow up and return home. They have a lot of issues to resolve but eventually get their HEA.
This is the fifth book in the Boys of Winter Series. I love this Series, and this is a really sweet, sexy, hot and fun listen. Cara and Jaxon are both great characters! Jaxon is a hockey player and Cara a sport blogger who write under the name of Mr. Hockeypants. They share an undeniable chemistry. I love their happy ending. I have already read the next book in the Series, Vows on Ice, and I totally recommend it. The narration was well done, and easy to understand. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
The Boys of Winter series has been one of my favorite sports romance series. It has put a smile of my face every time and made me feel so much at the same time! Even tho each book could stand on its own as a read, in my opinion, you are more for the better to read them all. This series is more than just about the individuals, its about the team. And it shows in every book!
The condensed gist of this story is that Jaxon plows a play that causes the team to lose a game. Yes, it’s a huge blow to Jaxon, but it gets worse when a blogger with a huge following calls him out online and blames the entire loss on him. Well, we all know how rabid online can become, right?! So Jaxon escapes to his buddy’s beach house but finds it already occupied ….. (You can pretty much get all this from the blurb lol)
What you can’t get from the blurb is how this author just sucks you into a story. How they make the characters and situations so real and relatable that you fly through the book because you just can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. They captivate you with humor and heart. THAT’S what I love about these books. The banter and the push/pull between Jaxon and Cara was on point. Their story wasn’t far-fetch, it was real. I loved the entire thing!

This is the first book I’ve read by S.R. Grey and I really enjoyed it! I’m a huge fan of ice hockey, so this is the perfect sports romance. Setting? My favorite place, the beach! Bad boy on ice Jaxon Holland needs to get away after getting bashed online for a terrible error in the last game of the playoffs. Alone on an island seems like the best place. Cara Milne may just be the reason Jaxon has to get away. Cara was supposed to stay on the island with her best friend, but she ends up there alone.
When they have an exciting first meeting thus begins the epic sparring between these two. Neither Jaxon or Cara will back down and leave for home first. Can they stop arguing long enough to give into their attraction? Or does disaster ensue when Cara gets found out?
This was a great read. It had a little of everything. Player on Ice is funny, sexy, and sweet all rolled into one book! 4 steamy stars!
What a great the addition to the series. This is the 5th book in the series but can be read as a standalone. A loss of a game, the beat down from a blogger, and the taunting from fans has Jaxon wanting to spend his summer alone. Planning on getting away, Jaxon plans on spending the summer at a friend’s house on the beach. Needless to say he is not alone, I do not want to give out too many spoilers but the shenanigans are funny, entertaining, romantic, and eventually hurtful. Grab yourself a copy you will not be disappointed.
S.R. Grey heats things up with PLAYER ON ICE, book five of the Boys of Winter series. After having a terrible game that cut the Vegas Wolves season short, center, Jaxon Holland, heads to a secluded island to avoid encountering hostile fans. He ends up sharing a house with his teammate’s sister’s friend, Cara Milne. Unbeknownst to him, Cara was responsible for his fan troubles. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences.
Jaxon and Cara have an interesting start. Cara is feeling guilty about what she wrote about Jaxon in her blog under the penname of Mr. Hockeypants. The things she said were damaging. Jaxon has no clue, she is his nemesis. The two verbally spar a lot. They get to know each other well since they are alone together in the same house on an island. They become friends. Obviously, things explode when Jaxon discovers the truth.
It took me a while to warm up to the characters. As they both evolved and grew, I enjoyed them more and more. I think that was also because they both seemed to be hiding parts of their true personality. As they opened-up, I liked them more. They both are good people that are human and made mistakes. I like that they show character and take responsibility for their actions.
PLAYER ON ICE was skillfully written. I thought the plot was original and well laid out. I like the lizard scene. Lizards are cute. I appreciated how the issues were resolved. The story had a great ending. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I have to say that I was extremely excited about this book. Jaxon Holland is a hockey player and after getting side tracked at a game which causes the team to lose and getting a scathing blog post written about him, he decides to escape for a while.
Cara and her best friend want to escape the everyday by going to Noelle’s brothers beach house for the summer. Needless to say when Cara has to go on her own, she’s a bit disappointed.
What Cara and Jaxon don’t count on, is there being another person at the same beach house. Good god the whole book had witty banter, extreme sexual tension that you could cut with a knife and characters that just made the story so enjoyable you didn’t want it to end.
Cara is hiding a huge secret and when Jaxon finds out the truth, albeit not in a good way, he gets very angry. What they both don’t count on is feelings getting in the way. Do they get past this betrayal? Is there a happy ever after for them?? Well I’m keeping my mouth shut. I highly recommend you reading for yourself. I loved the fact that Dylan gave Jaxon some amazing advice, I really loved his book and this one is a superb addition to the Bad Boys of Winter series.
Jackson and Kara definitely not a match made in heaven to begin with. There’s nothing like a secret identity to start a relationship off wrong. Jackson is a hockey player who had a very bad day at a very bad time. His bad luck on the ice during playoffs brought out the sports blogger who gave him hell. This in turn riled up the fans to the point where he felt he had to leave town. Cara said louder has decided the best thing she can do is be behind the scenes Sports blogger. After she causes a Ruckus she finds herself alone and deserted beautiful Hideaway. Problem is unknowingly she is not alone. Heat that comes out of this tent situation keeps you reading flipping those pages. Sr grey has not let me down again.

This was a good love story, but I predicted a lot of things before they happened.
I still enjoyed the hate to love romance between Cara & Jaxson. Their chemistry and passion was off the charts.
I would probably recommend this book.

I love me some hockey players! This was a great book. The characters have chemistry that keeps them going.
Cara is a sports blogger. Her friend convinces her to go to her brothers beach house for a vacation. Leave it to her friend to not show up.
Jaxson is a hockey player who is frustrated after a blogger made his life terrible. He goes to his friends beach house for the summer but finds it occupied already.
Can these two live the summer in harmony? Will spark fly? or tempers?
This was a great read that kept me wanting more!
Book 5 in the Boys if Winter Series and just when you think it can’t get any better S.R. Grey gives us an even more adorable hockey hottie to fall in love with this time it’s Jaxon Holland’s story.
Jaxon is not only a top player for the Las Vegas Wolves he is also a top player with the ladies well at least he was until he messed a play up an a blogger known only by Mr Hockeypants gets on his case making his life miserable. The off season has come just at the right time and he takes up a teammates offer of a few weeks in a secluded beach house what he doesn’t expect is the house to be already occupied by a stunning sassy girl named Cara Milne.
What starts off very rocky soon becomes a romance made in heaven when Jaxon turns in his charm to win Cara over and just when you think they have both found their soulmate a bombshell drops ….Mr Hockeypants is really a Ms. Can Jaxon ever forgive the person who made his life a misery.
Boys of Winter is one of my favourite hockey series and S.R.Grey has become one of my go to authors, I love her style of writing, I love the perfect mix of humour and passion she gives us , every player in this series has a very different story to tell and even though we get bits from previous characters in each book they never take over another players story. I can’t wait for book 6 I’m this brilliant series and if you love rom-com’s or sports romance you need to start one clicking this must read series.
Player On Ice is the fifth instalment of the Boys of Winter series. Each book can be read as a stand alone read. I am really enjoying reading this series. I have fell in love with reading sports romances. Even though i know nothing about Ice Hockey (British Girl here) I find myself loving these the most.
Jaxon messes up big time in his game, costing the team one of their biggest losses. Fans jump to solely place the blame on him. To make matters worse a blogger called Mr.Hockeypants throws in their two pennies worth, making some rather scathing comments. He needs to get out of his head, escape the limelight and keep a low profile. When his team mate Noel offers him the use of a secluded beach house, he jumps at the chance.
Jaxon get’s more than he bargained for when he arrive’s at the beach house!! Which comes in the form of Cara, a sassy, beautiful woman.
Cara was suppose to be spending some down time with her best friend. They planned to stay at Noelle’s brothers beach house, enjoying the sun, sea and plenty of drinking. But at the last minute Noelle’s been called into work. Leaving Cara at the beach house by herself. Or so she thought!!
Until she walks in and finds the very sexy but also very naked, Ice Hockey player Jaxon Holland!!
When they realise that they both will be staying at the house for the next few weeks. They try to make the best out of an awkward situation. Cara act’s like she doesn’t really know much about him or hockey. But Cara is keeping a very huge secret!! which could destroy this friendship that is slowly building into more.
Player On Ice is full of witty banter, great sexual tension and characters made to fall in love with.
5 Star Review Player On Ice (Boys of Winter #5) by S.R.Grey
This has become one of my favourite hockey series. This is the fifth book in the series and is Jaxon Holland and Cara Milne’s story and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
This book is a stand alone but I do recommend you read the previous books in the series as they are a great read as I love the camaraderie between all the characters.
When Jaxon has the blame solely placed on him by a blogger called Mr.Hockeypants, for one of the teams biggest losses, the only thing he can do is to escape the limelight and keep a low profile. When one of his team mates offers him the use of a secluded beach house, he jumps at the chance, only problem is that it is occupied by Cara.
Neither Jaxon or Cara expect to find anyone else there and it creates tension immediately. Jaxon is determined to win over Cara; what he doesn’t know is that she is in fact the blogger Mr.Hockeypants.
What will happen when Jaxon finds out Cara’s identity? After all she almost destroyed his career. Will he be able to forgive her? Or will he reject her and the feelings that have blossomed between them?
Every time I finish one of these books I say I have a new favourite and yes I am saying this again.
I love S R Grey’s style of writing, her characters are strong and have depth and I am excitedly anticipating the next book in the series.
