A best friends to lovers romance that delivers! Noah, the team captain, and Kaylee, the socially awkward bookworm bring the inside jokes, the slow burn, the swoon-worthy romance and that white-hot intensity between the sheets. You don’t want to miss this one!Player.I will never call him that.It doesn’t matter if he’s one of the youngest team captains in college hockey. Or that he’s a legend on … college hockey. Or that he’s a legend on skates.
And, yeah, I know it’s a double entendre. I’m well aware of his reputation for hooking up with half the girls at Westbury. I’ve had a front row seat to the bunny parade.
Still, I won’t call him Player. That’s not who he is to me. That’s never who he’s been to me. He’s Noah Foster. My best friend. The boy I grew up with. The guy who knows me better than anyone.
Well, except there is one secret I’ve never told him. I haven’t exactly been open with him about how I’m a 21-year-old, card carrying member of the V-card-club.
But, when Noah needs me to tutor him for his exam, I get an idea. What if I teach him a little science, and the Player teaches me how to play?

Player is the story of Noah AKA “Player” who excels at the game of hockey as well as games in the bedroom with “bunnies”, and his best friend since childhood – Kaylee – the awkward bookworm virgin. These two have always been able to depend on each other.
As the story unfolds, Noah finds himself in need of assistance from his best friend to secure his future with the NHL. Kaylee is tired of carrying her V-card and wants to experience sex and believes that Noah has the experience to help her learn about sex so when she finds the “one” she’s not awkward.
The two embark on what – in their eyes – is a mutually beneficial arrangement. However, Noah helping Kaylee puts these two on a path of self-discovery. Is Noah happy being a player? Can Kaylee have a “friends with benefits” type of relationship with her best friend? Can Noah and Kaylee find what we all want – to be loved – and find it with each other?
Mr. Cleveland writes real and genuine stories that are compelling with humor and all the feels one looks for in romance novels. His treatment of Kaylee’s first sexual experience was written with care and sensitivity. His use of analogies and metaphors usually have me laughing out loud!
Player is another GOAL for Mr. Cleveland! I can’t wait for his next story!
I gave this book five stars because it was awesome. Noah and Kaylee were the perfect couple. I love how he was a good teacher for her. I am glad the bitter bunny did not succeed. Great job Eddie! Keep up the great work.
Eddie Cleveland has a great gift for words!!! From childhood friends to lovers. Kaylee and Noah grew up together and are best friends. Now in college, Noah pulls the friendship card to have Kaylee tutor him so he doesn’t flunk out and lose his scholarship. Noah is a star hockey player for the college team and as a “Player” has a “Bunnie” any night he wants. Kaylee is studious and still has her V-card. After tutoring Noah, Kaylee decides that she wants Noah to tutor her about sex, and decides to use the friendship card as he did. Noah has had feelings for Kaylee, but didn’t act on them because he didn’t want to mess up the friendship they’ve had since childhood. Kaylee promises it won’t mess up their friendship. This book is packed with a good story line, awesome characters, steamy scenes, good humor, great friends. What more could you want in a book? Looking forward to reading about the other characters getting there HEA.
4.5 Stars
What a great book! I really hope it’s the first in a new series. Loved Noah and Kaylee and how their real, true friendship is what prevails over all else.
I have been a huge Eddie Cleveland fan from day one but this is a slapshot at the buzzer kinda WIN! Huge and exciting! I am a fan of the college romance genre and I am a fan of sports romance. To combine the 2 and take me back to my days at University, well lets just say this makes Player my favorite EC novel yet!
A sexy, fun plot with great character development. A bunch of hilarious jokes, some great one liners and the best chapter titles I’ve seen, maybe ever
Wow did I love Noah and Kaylees story! Noah was your typical jock with the player status bunnies all over the place the looks the charm and the bestie that knows him like no one else does. Kaylee is your typical book nerd loyal best friend who just accepts Noah for all he is. I loved how they both secretly liked each other but neither would jump on it at first. I think together they were awesome! Loved the drama in the book! All of their hockey friends were funny as can be. Etta was great I hope she gets her own story! It was well written and had such a fun storyline I would defiantly recommend this book!!!!
This book was surprisingly sweet – something I did not expect from a sports romance novel. There wasn’t too much angst – another thing that made me happy. Overall I’m very happy I took the time to read this book. It is a feel good type of book. And the last sex scene was very hot! I can’t wait to read the next one in this series. After getting to know some of the teammates I’m excited to have them find their happily ever after too!
This BFF to lovers romance book has it all! A great storyline, awesome characters, attraction, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, humor, lots of feels, love, oh, and some steamy scenes.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
One of the best friends to lovers story I have read in a long time. I was hooked from the first chapter to the epilogue. Perfect feel good story.
“Player” is a spicy-hot page-turner read with fabulous character interaction, true friendships, fun and heart-tugging moments.
Noah the hot hockey team Captain has been intimate with many girls on campus, but keeps his heart safe from commitments. Kaylee the sassy, intelligent beauty still sports her V-card. They are best friends and always help each other out when the need arises. Noah, unfortunately, needs a tutor in science, and Kaylee craves help in the playing game. What she doesn’t know is that Noah has a fire in his belly that burns only for her.
An entertaining read with a believable romance and credible characters. Noah and Kaylee are perfect together. This story pulls you in and has you cheering for the characters. Camaraderie between the characters is awesome. The author does a fantastic job showing why jumping to conclusions can be hurtful. Loved this story.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I love these story. I couldn’t put the book down. Great characters that pull you into their story. This story has humor, off the charts panty melting heat, and it is emotional. Noah and Kaylee have great chemistry and I enjoy the banter between them.

Wonderful story of best friends becoming more. Noah, aka Player, is hockey team captain and on his way to the NFL IF he can pass his classes. Kaylee, his best friend for forever, takes on helping Noah prep for his finals. Kaylee is tired of being the bookish shy girl with no experience and asks Noah to tutor her and to start by taking her virginity. Promising that nothing will change in their friendship, Noah and Kaylee start a friends with benefits relationship. But Kaylee’s insecurities get the best of her possibly ruining everything between her and Noah. She can only hope that their founding friendship help save their blossoming love.
Great friends to lovers/sports romance (two of my favorite tropes in one) Noah and Kaylee have been friends forever and they have always been there for each other no matter what. What happens when Kaylee asks Noah to be her first? Will he be her first? Will it change things? You will have to read to find out. I highly recommend this book.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
