I may have moved from Texas to Colorado, but my reputation followed me–right along with my furniture. Everyone knows…I’m a player. Since I’m one of the billionaire Walker brothers, most of the world knows what I am. It’s not like I ever tried to hide it. I never cared about what other people thought about me. I lived to party…or I did until I realized what I really wanted to do with my life. life.
Now, I’m having one hell of a time convincing Paige Rutledge, our new attorney in the legal department at Walker Enterprises, that I’m more than willing to settle for just one woman in my bed, as long as that female is her. Unfortunately, she’s not buying it, but I’m not giving up. There’s never been a woman I couldn’t charm into bed if I wanted to. Problem is, I’ve never wanted one quite this badly, and the more I get to know her, the higher the stakes are for me. Luckily, I’m a gambling kind of guy.
Paige is uptight, driven, and totally hiding something. I want to find out her secrets, but when I do, they are nothing like I imagined. She confuses everything for me, but with her, I’m finding out that maybe I actually don’t mind if things get complicated.
What’s a guy to do when one female turns my life upside down from the moment I meet her? I have no idea what other men might do, but I’m determined to get what I want, and I’m not opposed to doing anything to achieve my objective.
Paige is mine, she just doesn’t realize it yet…

This was an intense read for me compared to the first. There was a lot of emotional pain that Paige had to go through and it felt a little rushed to me that she opened up to Sebastian so easily. The steamy parts were definitely hot and I liked the support Sebastian offered her and the easy way they connected. The ending felt like it was wrapped up a little fast just to get to the next brothers book and yeah, okay, I’ve been looking forward to Dane’s story but I’d have liked more focus on the resolution of Sebastian and Paige’s relationship rather than jumping straight into how they’re going to use her best friend to get to Dane. It was a good read, not my favorite, but I’ll be picking up Damaged next for sure.
Sebastian & Paige’s Story Sizzles! Their Instant-Love Romance Is A Mature Story About Two Career-Minded Singles Finding Love When Least Expected.
This series is a spin-off from Billionaire Unbound, book eight in The Billionaire’s Obsession series, which is Chloe Colter and Gabe Walker’s story. Here Gabe’s billionaire cousins get a series all their own. Like Gabe, his cousins Trace, Sebastian, and Dane hale from Texas. They faced tragedy six years ago when their newly remarried father died along with Karen, their new stepmother, in a plane crash. Dane, the youngest brother and recent high school graduate, had been on the plane as well. He survived, but barely. His body is marred in scars, a reminder of that day that changed young Dane’s life forever. It changed them all. Trace and Sebastian had been in college and had not been on the plane. They had survivor’s guilt. Dane turned to seclusion and immersed himself in art. Sebastian gave up on ambition and lived life in the fast lane without a care in the world. And at age twenty-one Trace, the eldest, had been forced to tone back his aspirations and instead take over running the family business. He had just graduated from college and was planning on earning his MBA.
Release!, book one, is Trace Walker and Eva Morales’s story. Trace, twenty-seven, has been head of the Walker family for six years now. His life took a turn for the serious side after the accident took his father’s life. Trace’s life is rigid and controlled – everything is about control. He runs the family business, which includes Walker Escapes, a string of luxury resorts with locations around the world. Like his cousin Gabe, Trace chose to move to Colorado, and his corporate headquarters were eventually relocated to Denver.
In Player!, Book Two:
Sebastian Walker, twenty-seven, is a new man. It was nearly one year ago when his brother Trace had fallen for Eva and the three brothers had celebrated the holidays together. After a long overdue heart to heart, Trace and Sebastian had come to a new understanding. While Trace had needed to step up and take charge after their father passed, Sebastian had felt aimless for years. Without assigning blame, they agreed that Sebastian would repurchase his share of Walker Enterprises and put his party days behind him. Sebastian had grown weary of the playboy lifestyle. He wanted to do something meaningful that contributes to society. As an engineer, he has tinkered with renewable energy and now hopes to make Walker Enterprises a global leader in solar and wind energy, bringing the U.S. into the forefront of the field. He has given up drinking, women, and other vices and instead devoted himself to his career, working side by side with Trace. Still, his reputation is so notorious that it is hard to live it down. Hardly anyone would guess that he leads a boring life now and loves it. The late nights in the office are the result of his passion for his work. He is now working on a deal that will allow him to go forward with the New Mexico project he has planned.
Paige Rutledge, twenty-six, is starting her first day at Walker Enterprises. The Harvard Law graduate was thrilled to land the coveted job, even if it means leaving the East Coast and her best friend Mackenzie behind. While corporate law isn’t her first choice, she does have loans to consider and like everything, she has a plan. She aspires to eventually become Chief Counsel. With her work ethic, it isn’t an unreasonable goal. She worked throughout law school and has no social life. She had tried dating a couple men in law school, but had since given up on the idea. She isn’t relationship material – in fact she is uncomfortable in most social situations. She purposely dresses to avoid attracting attention to herself. It hadn’t always been that way – she was once happy and more carefree. That all changed one day five years ago, and although she misses her parents, she still carries a lot of hurt.
When Sebastian steps into the crowded elevator and spies Paige on her first day, he finds himself wanting a woman for the first time in over a year. She turns him down for dinner – a first for him. But he cannot just walk away and it quickly becomes an obsession. Never has he wanted just one woman, but everything about Paige is different. She hides herself like she is running from something, a feeling he can relate to. When Paige spies Sebastian Walker looking at her, she feels horribly uncomfortable, but there is something about that Texas drawl that has her melting on the inside. She knows it is wrong to accept a date with her boss and that it can only lead to trouble. But there are only so many times she can say no before being coaxed into taking a risk. The couple eventually earns a happy ending. Dane’s story gets a kickstart here as Trace and Sebastian get and idea and begin to plot.
Sebastian and Paige’s story sizzles. Their instant-love romance is a mature story about two career-minded singles finding love when least expected. Sebastian and Paige both have past trauma that they have overcome, but Paige is still held hostage by her past. In typical Walker fashion, Sebastian will stop at nothing to love and protect Paige. Their journey isn’t always smooth sailing, but Sebastian’s alpha ways and obsessive tendencies prove to be the perfect tonic to help soothe Paige’s troubled soul. Their story is deals with serious issues, and those with triggers are warned. Dane’s story follows next, which wraps up the series. The story is well-written and plot-driven. The characters are nicely developed. It is written in first person. The POV alternates between Sebastian and Paige. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
I loved it.
Sebastian Walker can’t seem to outrun his partying bad boy persona despite the fact he walked away from that life a year ago. Nowadays he gets his kicks through hard work and accomplishment. So when he’s gobsmacked by Paige Rutledge during a very short elevator ride, that’s saying something. Paige is a newly minted corporate attorney with big ambitions. She has no time for a player like Sebastian. He slowly changes her her perceptions but not about anyth8ng else. She’s got a big secret from her past that has colored all of her interactions especially men. But Sebastian is nothing if not persistent especially since thoughts of Paige never leave his brain for more than a few seconds. He will win her heart because she is his one.
Everytime I read stories with story line that involved the experience that Paige and the other women went through, I jus want to reach in ensure that the perpetrator gets exactly what he deserves. So many people are victims of this vicious crime. This violation is committed to men as well. I know this book is fiction but it is relevant to real life and we can learn from reading about. This is a brilliant story line that is well written.
I feel like I’ve read this story before, but I haven’t. It just kind of feels recycled. That said, I still enjoyed the listen with a few caveats. Paiges parents…really?
How could they have not supported and loved their child when the worst had happened to her? They may have been well intentioned and yet…yuck. Sebastian grew up and turned out to be a great guy. A steamy sexxy happily ever after.
Oh and can someone teach the narrator how to properly pronounce the work irrevocable!
After his father’s sudden death, Sebastian spiraled into a world of partying and debauchery. After he reconciles with his brother, and realizes he wants to be a part of their family company, he leaves that life behind and focuses on his work. Until he meets Paige in the elevator on her first day at work as a junior lawyer for his company.
Paige is focused on her career. She’s not impressed by money, and she’s determined to do well in her new job. But multiple encounters with Sebastian have her reeling with her attraction, and when he gets her to accompany him to a social event in order to nail down a potential deal for Sebastian, sparks fly even more. But a person in her past that changed her life, not for the good, re-appears and throws everything into a tailspin.
Sebastian goes overprotective alpha male in the best way in this story. He fully owns up to his own past, and when events from Paige’s past haunt her, he is fully there to help her work through them and move on. He’s exactly the type of guy a woman would want and need in that situation. Not to mention hot as hell. When they finally connect, it is scorching, and their HEA is very sweet.
Another amazing book from Ms Scott. The story is well written and I loved every steamy minute of it.
Loved this one! Crazy when you meet your soul mate in the elevator at work and they literally blow you off. Sebastian meets the newest junior lawyer on her first day at work and he is intrigued. Paige graduated from Harvard and came to work at Walker, not her dream job, but far away from the East coast. These two were made for each other and this reformed player does a great job healing Paige and the emotional scars she has. Great addition to this series!
Player! (The Walker Brothers, #2) was another great read by J.S. Scott. Sebastian is a Walker brother who had left a life of partying to help his brother with the family business. He meets Paige, the new attorney in Walker Enterprises legal department. He tries to prove to her that he is ready to put his player days behind him and settle down with one woman. Paige is not willing to be with one of the companies owners and doesn’t want to complicate her life anymore than it is. But they can’t deny the attraction they have with each other. I loved reading Sebastian and Paige’s story and can’t wait to read more by J.S. Scott.
When your world falls apart, it’s your heart that points you in the right direction. Many times I have heard it said “you can’t judge a book by it’s cover, Player proves those words right. Scott uses her talent to enlighten, inspire and surprise. Sebastian and Paige have a depth that goes way beyond attraction. Both are running away from painful memories, hoping to survive the fallout. Sebastian is the Walker brother that everybody tends to underestimate. The party boy has matured and is working to live down his past. Paige is a woman with a secret in her past that has shaped her present. Neither Paige nor Sebastian are what they seem. For out of the ashes of heartache, comes a love worth fighting for.
Loved the first two books of the Walker Brothers Trilogy. Haven’t bought the third yet.
Love this series!
Different subject matter in this book than normal. Very informative and a great read.
Home Run
Perfect emotional rollercoaster for the ones that love a tear jerker. This book will make you laugh and cry, so bring the Kleenex. But isn’t that the perfect book. To me tears mean the author has pulled you into the story and you are feeling what the Characters are feeling.
Sebastian and Paige are both stubborn with their feelings towards each other and with their pasts both feel undeserving of love, can the two of the overcome their pasts and realize they will not be perfect unless they are together.
Until Next Time… Tabi
Enjoyed
It really took me awhile to like the characters
I love it
Very good! Wasn’t sure about it but I thought. Would give the new author a chance. So glad I did. Would love to read the other brothers!
a great read!
