Charming, Sexy & Entertaining! OMG This series is going to be so, so good. I can’t wait for the next story in this series. Getting to meet all the Wynn Family was quite the treat. You know what they say. That there is a thin line between love and hate. Well get ready to see the drama and how accurate that statement is, in this larger than life family.
Théo Wynn has just accepted a position as General Manager of the California Condors Ice Hockey Team. His whole life he had wanted to play in the NHL and he did, until a injury ended his career. But all his life Théo also had a mind for numbers. So he took his mind for numbers and applied his knowledge of hockey and started a hockey analytic business coast to coast. Now he just needs to prove his worth to his family. So with his last night in Vegas he finds himself at Silk, a high end cocktail lounge where he becomes a knight to a damsel in distress.
Lacey Olson has never been so desperate. Her twin brother is missing along with the money in her bank account. Her twin brother Chris has a gambling problem, and she is sick and tired of enabling him. When she is confronted by two men that want her to payoff her brother’s debt at her high-end waitress job, she knows she needs to get out of Vegas and let her brother clean up his own mess for once. So, when a hot, stranger comes to her rescue after she gets fired, she can’t believe what the stranger is offering. And before the night is through, she is married to him and heading to California.
I loved that the series started with Theo and Lacey’s story. These two have instant chemistry and so much in common. But they are also so open and honest with each other. Their conversation and relationship is heartwarming, sexy and fun. You can’t help but fall for them and root for their HEA!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love a good Hockey story and this one did not disappoint!
Theo and Lacey are anything but a normal couple. Lacey is in need of help and Theo steps in. When they decide marriage is what is needed for them both, will they be able to keep it a business arrangement? Or will feelings get in the way?
I enjoyed the big crazy Wynn family and look forward to reading more.
You guys …. The Wynn family puts the functional in dysfunctional and it works hilariously well! I’m still laughing days later ………… I mean there’s so much frikking laughter! I cannot wait for the rest of the family to get their story! Like I want them yesterday!!!
So obviously this was a total #win for me. It was easy and fun and not over the top in the least. It was absolutely relatable, and you cannot help but want to be their friend!
”Meet the Wynns—a hockey dynasty built on family, money, and drama.” truer words have never been written!
Kelly Jamieson has a breakout with PLAY TO WIN, the first book in the Wyn Hockey series. Needing to prove himself to his family, Théo Wynn accepts the position of general manager of the NHL team, the Los Angeles Condors. He enlists the help of Lacey Olson to get her out of Las Vegas. The two decide to get married to help with his plan. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences.
Kelly Jamieson does an amazing job laying the foundation to the Wynn series. The Wynn family is very complicated. Jamieson does a fantastic job of explaining the history and dynamics of the family. Both Théo and Lacey have been betrayed by their brothers. I love that they meet each other and help one another with their issues.
Théo is a likable hero. His NHL career was cut short due to an injury. He pursues a job in NHL management. I felt horrible for him and what happened with his previous relationship. It is understandable why he enlists Lacey’s help. Lacey is a sweet heroine. Her brother is a gambling addict who abused their relationship. The two are good for one another. I appreciated that Lacey helps Théo relax and enjoy himself, instead of analyzing everything.
I am a huge fan of Kelly Jamieson. I enjoy her writing style. PLAY TO WIN is an amazing start to the Wynn series. I like how it ties into the Aces Hockey series. There is a lot of interesting drama with the Wynn family. I’m looking forward to the rest of this series to find out how everything unfolds. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I adore Kelly Jamieson and though I could TELL you all the reasons why, I’d rather you just grab a copy of her latest, Play to Win, and find out for yourself. Guys, you won’t be disappointed by this fake marriage/hockey romance/rom-com with all the feels. I was left smiling, feeling good and positively impatient for the next member of the dys-FUN-ctional Wynn clan to get their HEA. Gimme more, Kelly!!
‘Play to Win’ is the first book of Kelly Jamieson’s new hockey series. I really enjoyed ‘Aces Hockey’ series but I got a feeling that ‘Wynn Hockey’ will be much better. Wynn family is a hockey dynasty and everyone is involved in hockey in someway. They are a big family and when the family is big there are usually tons of dramas, sons suing their father, brother stealing brother’s girlfriend but these family dynamics definitely seems to keep things interesting through the series.
After a career ending injury, our hero, Theo Wynn takes a managerial duty in Las Vegas hockey team. When his grandfather offers him a job and he accepts to become the General Manager of California Condors. But the idea of going back home doesn’t feel too appealing to Theo. He has too much to prove to his family and his backstabbing brother. On his last night during his farewell celebration, he saves their waitress being harassed by two guys. But his saving wasn’t enough because she gets fired right after the event. Lacey Olson is dealing with his gambling addict brother Chris and his gambling debt. Thanks to his brother now there are bookies harassing her. After getting rescued by the hot stranger and getting fired, she was invited to have a drink with his rescuer. Theo always has a plan but Lacey makes him do crazy things, like jumping into a pool fully clothed, getting married with a total stranger and taking her back to LA with him. After their quickie fake marriage, Theo’s life turns into a more entertaining and fun. Their attraction for each other is undeniable and with each minute they share, they start caring and depending on each other. When their fake marriage starts feeling not that fake any more, past shows its face and messes everything up for them. Will they get their HEA? That is for you to find out 🙂
‘Play to Win’ is sweet, inspiring, heartwarming and sexy story, you won’t be able to put it down until you are done with it. Kelly Jamieson and Wynn Hockey definitely becomes an auto buy for me. I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book of the series ‘In It to Win It’ in July and amazing thing is it is about the two people I was dying to read more JP and Taylor 🙂
P.S. I hope Everlyn’s story will be out sooner than later 🙂
Would I recommend this book: Yes.
Would I re-read this book: Already did.
Would I read future books by this author: Yes.
I loved this story of Lacey and Theo, how they met and what happens after that. Theo is so hunky and now a GM, bc sadly he was injured and it sidelined his playing career.
Lacey is a gorgeous woman who finds herself in trouble, so when Theo offers a solution she goes with it. May have been a wee bit of alcohol involved lol. Their chemistry was smoking even tho they were opposites and I enjoyed reading their ups and downs, along with their quirks and banter.
The Wynn dynasty was a bit overwhelming with the many character intros, dirty laundry airing, etc. and I just didn’t cohese with all that in the 1st book. That, to me, made it feel 2nd or 3rd generation, depending on which family of ol Bob you would be talking to.
I do look forward to reading more in this series, as I’m sure it will all make sense and flow smoothly moving forward.
I received an ARC thru NetGalley and am freely giving my honest opinions on Play To Win!
Play To Win is the first in a brand new hockey series by Kelly Jamieson. This new dynastic family is the ‘Wynn’s and it’s one of the biggest and most convoluted bunch of people I’ve ever read about in a fictional story.
Théo is the first of the Wynn’s to get his story. He’s on a night out celebrating with friends because he is leaving Las vegas for a new job the next morning, when he meets Lacey.
Lacey is a cocktail waitress struggling to make her rent when she gets to tend Théo table, and even though they shouldn’t, they are attracted to one another. It’s clear from that first moment that these two are destined to be together.
When Lacey finds herself out of work and in deep water, Théo offers a helping hand, and she soon finds herself in Los Angeles and living the high life.
Théo’s life is changed in many ways when he has spontaneous and lively Lacey under his roof, but it’s what he needs to get his head out of the ‘analytical’ mire his gets bogged down in. Théo is a former NHL player, and has been hired by his grandfather to be GM of his team, so he has a lot on his plate already and adding Lacey is at times more than he can handle. Plus, he has one crazy mixed up family, when a lot of conflict going on.
Théo and Lacey’s relationship may be unconventional at first, but the chemistry is all to real and soon, so are their feelings for one another. But, it only takes one misunderstanding for it all to go sideways and it’s down to Théo to set things right.
I really enjoyed this book, Théo and Lacey make a great pair. They are believable. Sweet and romantic at times and whew! Some of the steamy scenes might make you blush, lol. Great start to a fabulous new series that I can’t wait to read more of. Book 2, In It To Win It, can’t come soon enough.
4.5 Stars for Play to Win book 1 in the new Wynn Hockey Series.
Kelly Jamieson certainly knows her hockey and if this book is anything to go by this new series will be great, if you love hockey romance you will want to read Theo Wynn and Lacey Olson’s story.
Theo was destined for a life as a hockey player his family are players or owners of NHL teams but when his career was cut short by an injury the only thing to do was run a team for his father but now his grandfather is trying to poach him to become manager of his rival team will Theo jump ship and join the enemy………
Lacey meets Theo when he comes to her rescue when she is being harassed at the bar she works in, Theo may have thought he was just playing the knight in shining armour but the instant attract and a few drinks down the line sends all common sense out the window and they end up with a marriage certificate in their hands..
I loved this couple and what can I say about the Wynn family apart from it looks like this author has shaped a series around a family we are bound to love, yes they have there problems and sometimes they don’t get on but when it comes to the crunch family sticks together. Looking forward to more from the Wynn Hockey Series.

This was a roller coaster of a romance. I thought things were a little predictable for Lacey and Théo, but at the same time their chemistry was off the charts. Without saying too much,I thought the blurb seemed a little misleading with Lacey turning Théo’s life into a beach party, which yes there seems to be more spontaneity, but to me it sounded like she was a party animal, when she’s a girl living her life while she can. She isn’t trying to take things for granted, Théo included. They’re made for one another.
I would recommend this HEA if I was asked.
Kelly Jamieson is know for her Hockey Romance Series and we are about to start another one. She give us the feel of hockey life without hockey being overpowering and getting lost in terminology.
The Wynn Series is about a family that is all Hockey from team owners, retired players, current players, and many others involved in the sport. There is more than their fair share of hostility and angst in the Wynn family.
Theo Wynn has still made himself a life around the world of hockey even after the accident that ruined his playing career. Being a numbers guy, he was able to use that to work on the analytical side of thing to help with team management. He is a super focused guy who clearly is a workaholic who just needs to leave his insecurities at the office and try and enjoy himself. Ready for the next step in his career he meets Lacey and somehow she has drawn him in and make him step on the wild side. Could this be a new trend?
Born and raised in Vegas, she has her wits about her. She has had to work hard for everything she has. Life has not been easy for Lacey the past two years. The loss of her mother, trying to keep her twin brother on the straight and arrow. She has found herself working many jobs just to stay afloat and to pay off old bills. When her brothers troubles become her troubles, she isn’t sure where to turn next, but the handsome Theo who she just met might have an idea.
One wild night and a couple of spontaneous decisions finds Lacey headed to LA. Will this be a short trip or will Lacey find a reason to leave Vegas for good? Can Theo and Lacey pull off this charade? Will hearts get involved when they least expect it?
I am excited to see what we will get next in the Wynn Series.

Play to Win is no cookie cutter romance. Lacey and Theo do have to tackle a few stereotypical fairytale aspects, but Jamieson packs in a bit of modern attitude to balance out some of the old. For instance, Theo has a knack for rescuing a damsel in distress, but he’s no White Knight. Prince Charming wears glasses, loves numbers and is not afraid to show off his sensitive side. When Lacey finds herself in a bind, she refuses to be a victim and she finds her warrior in the most surprising of places. Play to Win fights it’s way through the fantasy of who can be a hero and gives it a realistic shine.
The first of the Wynn Hockey series, and this was so good!! Lacey’s stuck in a bit of a bad place, her brother is a d-bag that stole her last dime and now the people he owes money to are coming after Lacey for payment. Theo is celebrating his new job, a job that has him moving back to California where his crazy family are, where his girlfriend stealing brother is. After saving Lacey from the goons that are after her brother, Theo pulls Lacey into the celebration with him and the two end up having an amazing night, one filled with booze, jumping in pools fully dressed, and getting married. The plan is simple, Theo helps keep Lacey safe by taking her to Cali with him, in turn she helps by making it look like he has moved on from the ex-girlfriend. What happens when feelings start getting involved? Will the two be able to keep up this fake relationship even though it’s getting very real?
I really enjoyed this story! With funny moments, like seriously some laugh out loud moments, loads of drama, and some really steamy hot naughty bits. The Wynn has some issues that are going to rival a soap opera, and I am excited to see that soap opera play out. Lacey and Theo’s story was entertaining and I give it 4 stars.
Lacey grabbed me, she is tough as nails, dealing with a brother who gambles after losing her mother to cancer. She is working as hard as she can to make ends meet but her brother keeps making it impossible. When some bookies are suddenly after her for some ‘favors’ to repay his debts, she finds help in an unlikely person. Theo is celebrating his new job and finds himself connecting with the waitress, Lacey. Something in her eyes, even as she carries herself with confidence, grabs him. When he sees her in a bad situation well, he plays the white knight. Who knew that would include a marriage proposal? Can this marriage of convenience turn into something more? This romance kept me entertained and guessing on what would happen next. Lacey has to find her path in Los Angeles while Theo dives into his new job with determination. The chemistry Lacey and Theo have feels natural as her free spirit helps Theo relax. I wanted Lacey to find love and know that she is worth being loved after everything she had been through. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Gambling addiction… Las Vegas bookies… A cheating ex… A dysfunctional family… A drunken Vegas wedding… the perfect ingredients for a perfect love.
Théo Wynn has stolen my heart. I love his brains, his quirkiness and his huge heart! He has taken the #1 spot on my KJ hero list. Lacey Olsen is his perfect partner. I love her free spirit, her loyalty, and her ability to see the best in everyone. These two characters truly compliment each other. There was such an easiness in their relationship. They just fit. I don’t know if I’ve ever read a story where I felt the characters belong together as much as these two. They definitely had sexual chemistry, but that took a backseat to the way they seemed to just naturally make the other content. A fantastic start to a new series!!!
I am so excited for the rest of the books in this series!! The Wynn family has definitely piqued my interest!!

Play to Win (Wynn Hockey, #1) by Kelly Jamieson This is the first book in the WYNN HOCKEY series.. and it is a great start. This is Theo Wynn (retired with injury hockey player…going back home to manage his grandfather’s team) Lacey Olsen (has to get out of Vegas because her low life brother did her wrong) They meet and Theo decides to saw her and take her to California with him..then they decide to have a Vegas wedding that is fake. The fun never stops… plenty of laughs and some tears.. you meet the whole crazy Wynn family..there is some steamy sex all leading to a HEA. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series IN IT TO WIN IT.
PLAY TO WIN is the first instalment in Kelly Jamieson’s contemporary, adult WYNN HOCKEY erotic, hockey, romance series focusing on the Wynn family, owners and operators of the NHL’s California Condors, and the Long Beach Golden Eagles. This is twenty-eight year old, California Condors’ General Manager Theo Wynn, and twenty-four year old Lacey Olson’s story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Theo and Lacey) PLAY TO WIN follow the building relationship and marriage of convenience between twenty eight year old, California Condors’ GM Theo Wynn, and twenty-four year old Lacey Olson. Lacey’s brother Chris is in trouble; gambling debts that are now threatening Lacey’s life, threats that see our heroine fired on the night she meets Theo Wynn. Theo Wynn is about to embark on a new career in the NHL but one last night of partying finds our hero coming to the rescue of a woman who isn’t prepared for what happens next. Needing to make an impression upon his return home to California, Theo offers Lacey a ‘marriage of convenience’ in return for helping Lacey as her life spirals out of control. What ensues is the quick Vegas wedding, followed by a move to the coast wherein Lacey will come face to face with the dysfunctional Wynn family, and all of their crazy in-laws, out-laws, and philandering ways.
Theo Wynn has never recovered from his brother’s betrayal, a betrayal that cut deep into the family hold.Marrying Lacey gave Theo a ‘one-up’ on his brother, a brother who was once his best friend and more. Lacey Olson has struggled to make ends meet since the death of her beloved mother but Lacey never expected to find herself on the run, with a gorgeous husband but no promise of a happily ever after.
The relationship between Lacey and Theo is one of immediate attraction but threats to Lacey’s safety and life find Theo guardian and protect of the woman with whom he will fall in love. Theo doesn’t do relationships, not since the betrayal that destroyed his life, but meeting Lacey Olson meant the possibility of a future but a possibility that comes with issues of trust. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to a large cast of very colorful secondary and supporting characters including Theo’s brother JP; his ex-girlfriend Emma; and Lacey’s embattled brother Chris.
PLAY TO WIN is a story about a dysfunctional family of hockey players, team owners, and their significant others. There is plenty of fun and drama; secrets and lies; history, affairs, marriages and divorce. The premise will captivate your attention; the characters are energetic; the romance is passionate and intense. The hockey premise is limited to behind the scenes as Theo Wynn struggles to rebuild the California Condors, a team owned by his grandfather but in direct competition with his father’s Long Beach Golden Eagles.
4 Star Review of Play To Win (Wynn Hockey #1) by Kelly Jamieson
Playing to Win is the first in the latest series from Kelly Jamieson, Wynn Hockey. This is Theo Wynn and Lacey Olson’s story and I really enjoyed it. Theo is a retired hockey player who now manages his grandfather’s NHL team, the Los Angeles Condors, in opposition to the one his father owns.
Theo has demons and he is determined to make a success of his new job. When Lacey gets into trouble at her waitressing job, Theo rushes in to rescue her. From there common sense goes flying out the window and Theo and Lacey embark on an adventure that soon sets the cat among the pigeons.
The family dynamics of the Wynn family had my head spinning, dysfunctional is not a strong enough word to describe this family and their antics.
I really liked Theo and Lacey, they were great characters and I wanted them to succeed; the chemistry between them simply smoulders. Will they both realize the potential their relationship has or run before it has a chance to flourish? Can something fake turn into something real?
One click and find out.
Théo and Lacey’s story starts out as a marriage of convenience but turns into so much more. I like that while this is a hockey romance, Théo is no longer a player but a general manager. He and Lacey have great chemistry and compliment each other quite nicely. While there is drama, it’s not really a lot. This is more of steamy, fun read which I love.
What a great start to a new series!
Another New Hockey Series By Kelly Jamieson brings us another new Hockey Dynasty with the Wynn Family. We meet the very handsome very analytical Theo Wynn. A former player himself now finds himself becoming the GM of a NHL team run by his Grandfather but he also comes from a family that’s always in turmoil. What he never expects is Lacey a young cocktail waitress who finds herself in trouble and he comes to her resecue.
Theo & Lacey have the most fun unconventional relationship but what they never expected was the chemistry that comes along with it. They need each other for different reason but when the one most unexpected reason keeps them together you hope they will find that HEA
