Colton Masters:
I have no idea why I’m being so rude to her. She hasn’t done anything wrong to me. She seems nice actually, sweet. She’s attractive, that’s for sure, but she certainly isn’t trying to capitalize on it. A baggy sweatshirt and a pair of jeans? Maybe it’s the UGGS that piss me off. The screaming designer label on her sweatshirt. Maybe it’s the fact that I haven’t stopped fantasizing … fantasizing about what she might look underneath it.
Lauren Percy:
Why is he being so rude to me? He has a face that has that boy charm. Dimples, big brown eyes, sandy hair, clear skin. But as I travel to his chest, I can see this is no innocent boy. Through his white t-shirt that grips his biceps, I see the black ink of tattoos. Where I come from, I have never seen a tattoo up close and personal. His hands are calloused, his fingernails slightly bitten, and he has a slight scar on his collarbone, but it’s hard to see under the hemp choker he’s wearing. He’s sexy as hell.
Colton Masters: “You done staring, Princess?”
Lauren Percy: Damn it. Why I am so drawn to him?

Loved this book. So many twists. Can’t wait for more!
OH MY GOODNESS!! This was a PHENOMINAL story!!!!!! It was so emotional about learning to love. The ending OH MY GOODNESS I wanted and NEEDED more!! I couldn’t believe it. Please tell me there will be more!
This was such a good book! Very emotional, raw and overwhelming at times. There should definitely be a sequel in my opinion. There is so much more that can happen.

I really liked this book. It’s a love story about two college kids who have an instant attraction. Lauren is an inexperienced, rich, good girl and Colton is a player with a lot less than what Lauren has. They both are extremely talented musically and both have had hard lives. Colton is rude and a little mean to Lauren at first because he is confused about his overwhelming immediate feelings for her. Then he tries to push her away because he doesn’t want to wind up hurting her. Eventually they get together and have a connection like no other. Colton ends up making a sacrifice for Lauren show she can achieve all of her dreams. I was broken at the end and wanted to cry even though I am not normally a very emotional person. I really wish there will be a follow up to this story so we can see what happens in the future.
This story was gripping with heartache. I felt so deeply for Colten and how he had always masked his pained childhood. The beginning of him and Lauren was harsh. I was so glad they couldn’t stay away from each other. Lauren had a lot to come to terms with, the trauma from losing her sister being her biggest hurdle in life. This relationship was such a leap of faith for both of them. But this ending….so so sad.
ARC review
This stand-a-lone novel takes place on a fairly small collage campus in Florida. Though the descriptions of the settings are scant there is enough for you to imagine the area.
The storyline and plot twist are well written. As I have come to expect from this author. It’s a real tear jerker in some places. So have your tissues handy!!!!
Character development was on the spot. The two main characters showed amazing development throughout the story.
Both Colton and Lauren dealt with tragedies in their past that lingered on to their college days. That includes everything from losing a sibling and being made to feel less than worthy by her parents’, to his less than ideal background. Music healed their hearts…but also broke them in the end. I enjoyed the storyline but there was just TOO many F-bombs dropping everywhere!!!
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Lauren is going to college in Florida. She was accepted in the music department where it’s hard to be accepted if you’re a freshman, she is that good! . Her teacher, Mr. Blake, will teach her to go deep within herself to bring out her emotions to be played in her music and in her dancing. She’s feeling lonely being away from her family and even though she has a wonderful roommate and girlfriends, she has a hate / love with her follow student Colton., another music student. These two have the sweetest chemistry! He’s the friends with benefits but no commitment. Jealousy, past family drama, emotional family hurts and future dreams all interfere with the possibilities of moving to New York. Will they find their hea? Will Colton keep playing for Lauren?
I received this Arc for a honest review.
This is an excellent book. It had me caught from the start and I literally didn’t put it down. It made me cry (a lot) and laugh. The book was well written and the story and characters were well developed. I loved the character personalities and seeing their relationship dynamics grow and evolve. The story was excellent. It had lots of emotion, intrigue and romance. I’d highly recommend this book but be aware that it is a tear jerker!!

Play Only For Me
R.B. O’Brien
This book was an amazing read for me. Normally I can lose myself in books, but since this Pandemic and Quarantine, I have not been able to do that. This book brought back my love of reading and being able to loose myself in a book and forget life for a while. This book is about two seemingly opposites who meet in a college music class. Colton is the poor, bad boy with tattoos and Leigh is the rich, girl who has everything – or so Colton thinks. Colton is very drawn to her from the beginning, so he is rude and tries pushing her away, but then he sees he’s hurting her, and his tender side comes out for a bit. She is drawn to him and can’t stop thinking of him, even though she knows he’s bad for her. But are they really that different? Do they have more in common than you would think? You need to pick up the book and read it to find out for yourself. I read this book in one sitting, to me it was that good, and once I started it, I could not put it down. Maybe it brought back memories of how I felt in college or at times in my life, but I really think it was just that it was a well-written book with excellent characters that seemed life-like and that they could be your friends. I will admit, I was a little disappointed in the ending, but I’m hoping that means there will be a book 2 and I can find out what happens to them and whether they make it in the music world and where their careers take them in life. I’d love another chance to read about both Colton and Leigh, but feel like it could become a series as there were others in the book it would be fun to read more about as well. I received this book for free in return for an honest review.
Take two musicians at college, one who is to say a bit rough around the edges and one who knows that the man she is drawn to is no “good boy”. This is the story of Colton and Lauren. Will they find love or will the effort be too much? You will have to read the book to find out. This is an excellent read from the pen of R.B. O’Brien. It will grip you one page one and not let go until you reach the conclusion. Highly recommended. I received a free copy of the book but my review is completely voluntary and unbiased.
Fun fast paced storyline with great characters. Lots of drama and chemistry between the characters to keep it entertaining. Read cover to cover because it was that good.
Omg this made me smile, cry and laugh. I couldn’t put it down. Absolutely amazing piece of writing.
I loved this book about Colton and Lauren’s journey, the travails of college romance, the angst we all felt at some point with our first love. There is more to their story to be written, and I’m eagerly awaiting the next book!
A sweet story of two college students who find each other. Heartbreaking yet full of that blush of young love’s optimism. I found myself crying at the ending of this. A nice read and definitely a beautiful love story.
I recieved this book free and I am voluntarily doing a review . This author done great with making me feel those little heart aches when Colton was rude and hateful to Lauren. The storyline was great along with Colton and Lauren, perfect for one another. This is a must read full of emotions.
Colton and Lauren are attending college and majoring in music but that appears where their similarities stop. Lauren has no idea why but Colton is not nice to her at all. What in the world has she done to him? Nothing comes to mind. Colton finds himself unable to stop thinking of Lauren and in turn he becomes a complete jerk to her. I loved reading this story, it is so sweet, emotional and engaging to ride along as these two characters find their way to a HEA. I cannot wait to read more from this author.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as I received an Advanced Readers Copy from the author.
ENJOYABLE HEARTFELT story!
A great story that kept me intrigued and is emotionally heartfelt to the point of making me teary eyed a couple of times. The story unfolds at a great pace with plenty of suspense and twists that had me wide eyed gasping in shock and doing high fives. The chemistry was good, sexy and drizzled with some heat. The ending made me feel content and filled with relief from all the twists and heartfelt emotions that kept me guessing it there would be a HEA that made this enjoyable story come full circle and worth every word.
This was a moving love story. I cried throughout the book. Of the books I’ve read by author R B O’brien, this was my absolute favorite. It told an evolving love story of two troubled college students from different worlds both dealing with a past of what-ifs. Colton Masters and Lauren Percy were perfect characters and O’brien did a wonderful job of making their characters lift from the pages as real people in the real world. This book is a must read and I highly recommend.
This story tore my heart out. Great story, great characters – loves the twists and turns – the ending though left me wanting more, way more!!
