Oz and Daisy have chemistry that ignites when they are in the same space. He is the broody bass player and she is the make up and hair stylist for the band. Daisy was the best friend of Oz’s late younger sister, and they have a past event in their lives that has caused them to not speak. There is also an underlying threat to the band that adds intrigue. Play Fast is part of an interconnected series of bands on Ripper Record label. One of the things I love about the series is seeing glimpses of the lives of previous characters from past stories. Quinn and Elliott write the best rock romance! It’s another winner!
After the long awaited arrival & I definitely have mixed emotions for this book. I neither loved nor hated it but I feel like nothing really even happened. Daisy & Oz have a back history, which didn’t even seem like a history bc it’s constantly mentioned but not fully explored with flashback scenes of any kind. Also found Daisy to be very bratty (yet wanting an adult relationship) & I never really felt or understood the attraction between her & Oz, even more so since they really only spend a weekend together & some passing moments yet there’s all this angst between them on top of Oz’s bottled up grief & anger surrounding his younger sister. They literally go from hate to wild sex & *mini spoiler* she’s a virgin who is automatically into the roughness that Oz delivers. As much as I’ve enjoyed the dark/ danger aspects surrounding the group, it was becoming super off putting the farther you read as their label is being so tight lipped about the events occurring & it’s making me not care anymore whether or not they’re in danger. What really saved this for me besides the band shenanigans & witty comebacks (bc those are always fantastic) was Nick who is a major character from this writing duo. He stole the show in the best way possible, delivering his own zest of life & kicks in the ass as only Nick can do. Definitely still look forward to the other members’ books as Cari & Taryn are some of my favorite authors but this was an unfortunate disappointment.
Quinn & Elliott have written another good book in the Brooklyn Dawn series. Each book truly stands alone but I recommend beginning with Play Dirty so that you can get to know the band members a little better. Oz is our bad boy bassist and does he have some baggage! Part of his history is Daisy the bands hair stylist and his late sister’s best friend. To say that they have a lot of unfinished business is barely touching the surface. These two have a lot to work through and not only is there the tension between them enough to scorch the pages but there’s more threats against the band that need to be handled. I enjoyed the banter between Oz and Daisy and really wanted to see them achieve the happiness that his sister would have wanted for the two people that she loved most in the world. Play Fast is a steamy, angsty, rock and roll rollercoaster! It was told from dual POV and will burn up your night!
Seriously this dynamic duo are amazing at pulling out the feels in their readers (fans) for the lives of their crazy rockers.
I love how seamlessly the rocker families mesh, and strengthen and support each other – even if they don’t know you that well.
Tragedy pulled them apart, an opportunity brought them back into the same sphere. Guilt and grief are playing major roles in the lives of Daisy and Oz. Their rocker family helps them heal. The intense heat between them sparks more than really hot sex!
Trouble continues to brew as little things that seem like nothing, cause Ripper Records to tighten security.
Another hit by Quinn and Elliott! This is book two in The Brooklyn Dawn series and I loved it!
Ozzy is the bass player for Brooklyn Dawn and is a little on edge this time of year as it is the five year anniversary of his sister’s death. And now back in his life is Daisy, his sister’s best friend.
Daisy got the dream job of a lifetime, being the make up and hair artist for the popular rock band Brooklyn Dawn. But Oz, who she has always wanted, is avoiding her and won’t speak to her. So she kidnaps his keys and they end up at his cabin in Lake George.
The air finally gets cleared and they talk things out, and then there is no more talking LOL! They spend a very hot and heavy weekend together, till Oz runs away. Can Oz learn how to love anyone?
Great story and characters. Tiny bit of a cliff hanger into the next book. Can’t wait!!!!!
Wow another awesome book by these two! This is one that will grab you right away and holds on until the end! This book will have you feeling all kinds of emotions during its journey. While this book can be read as a standalone, it is book 2 in the Brooklyn Dawn series. This series has been incredible so far. So highly recommend you read both. Cann’t wait for more!
These ladies never disappoint, i couldn’t put it down! Anything they write is worth reading, you’ll get caught up in their world and always want more.
How do you stop hating?! Or is it ever really hate and could it possibly be love? Daisy and Oz have a history. One which we don’t really find out about until their book and boy oh boy does it tear at your heartstrings.
You can definitely see the hate followed by the love these two have for one another. And it just gives the story that much more depth. Oz is sexy..no doubt there, but there is this fire of anger and sadness that consumes him. That drives him to push anyone and everyone away but his music. And in that push and pull you are a man who needs so much from a woman and needs so much from life and he is denying himself at every moment. And then there is Daisy who is light and has this spark of magic that draws you in and makes you want more of her effervescent personality.
There was passion, there was rage, there was a connection that went beyond any and all that was humanly possible for these two. The entire story you saw them heading towards each other, but feared that once they were together they would destroy that light and love.
And more than anything you saw Oz fight everything he was feeling and I wanted Daisy to pull him into the light. Daisy has a light that is so contagious that she has to be successful.
Ms. Elliott and Ms. Quinn have magic in their worlds. They bring together bands and bring love with their words. It is pure genius and I love it. Brooklyn Dawn is a band that will shine right up there with Oblivion and that makes me happy!
And then there is a twist. A plot twist that scares you, but also drives the story in a direction that will keep you wanting more and more of this series.
It was worth the wait and so much more!!
Well, this is a hard review to write. These authors are two of my favorites, and their rock series haven’t disappointed, but I’m sorry to say this one just didn’t do it for me.
Daisy does make-up and hair for Brooklyn Dawn, but mostly she’s in love with the bass player, Oz. She has some past history with him, being the best friend to his younger sister. His passed-away younger sister.
Both Oz and Daisy have some unresolved feelings about what happened with Oz’s sister Kerry and also how they feel toward each other. Does anyone really buy the — can’t date my sister’s/brother’s friend trope anymore? It seems a bit tired in this story and I’m still not quite sure whether I like Oz and Daisy together and gosh, it hurts to say that.
Their relationship story is told against a back drop of security concerns at Ripper Records. We’ve seen a similar story line before in this and the related series, so again, it just didn’t feel fresh. I just didn’t feel worried for any of the characters.
Nick Crandall’s contributions to this story are probably the most entertaining. I also think his presence in the story is a big spotlight on what is missing. I’ve always found great escape in these authors rock and roll series, but sadly this one just didn’t do it for me. I was encouraged by some of the potential foreshadowing of some boy-trouble between the girls over Noah the security guard, but I have no idea whether the story is going in that direction, but the thought of it will keep me reading this series.
Oz definitely delivered all the smoldering bad boy I was expecting. Daisy was a bit of a surprise. She had more of a back bone than I was expecting. I can’t wait to see how all the drama plays out in Teagan and Cooper’s book!!
I was hooked on this story immediately, and was excited to see how this relationship was going to pan out. Enemies to lovers isn’t what I’d have called this book myself, but that’s only because Daisy has been crushing on him since she knew what a crush was. Yes, they have messy stuff in their past, but it was nice to see them realize that sticking together was the best way to deal with it. Not to mention that they seem to genuinely have fun together, even outside of the bedroom.
For a man as forceful and domineering as Oz, I’m surprised I didn’t guess his tastes sooner, though I really love Daisy’s initial and later responses to it. I’m glad to see a book with bdsm stuff that actually talked about safe words, trust, and proper after care. Those things are incredibly important and, along with good communication, vital to a relationship like that (and relationships in general) working out.
I was so happy to see more of the Ripper family, nearly shrieking with joy when Noah appeared to kill the mood. I’m so ready to find out more, both for the band and for this weird stuff with Lord Donovan’s mysterious past. I have so many questions but know that they (mostly) should be answered in coming books 😀
Daisy is the hair an makeup person for the tour but Oz won’t let her touch him. Having a past with each other she still wants to try and help him and gets herself involved with him and causes problems. Being his sister’s best friend before she died will have we difficulty I’m their relationship
This story has suspense, which in a way is what brought Daisy and Oz back together. Daisy had been Oz’s sister best friend. On the anniversary of her death, Oz doesn’t want to be around anyone, least of all Daisy. He does his best to push her away but Daisy has had enough. She hitches a ride with him to his cabin and once there, the chemistry explodes. After a couple of attacks, they are assigned Noah as their bodyguard. After Oz uses Daisy, he just walks away from her. Daisy cant figure out what went wrong but she isn’t going to throw herself at him. Oz realizes what he had and figures he will do anything to get her back. I enjoyed the suspense because I’ve been trying to figure out who is out to get them. Looking forward to reading the next book.
This is book 2 in the Brooklyn Dawn series and while it could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the first book before this one just so you get a better understanding of the character’s relationships to each other and things that are spoken of that happened in the first book. That being said, in this one we get Oz’s book!! After reading the first book I couldn’t wait to learn more about him and this one definitely did him justice!! Oz went through something that most people should never have to. And he doesn’t deal well with it, not that I blame him a bit. Daisy has been through a lot as well, and blames herself for a lot. I loved Oz-he feel’s so much but doesn’t know how to actually express it. But when he loves someone? He is all in! Daisy cracked me up through most of this book-when she wasn’t breaking my heart. These two went through something that no one should have to, and I will warn you to bring your tissues for that part. But the chemistry is off the charts and I loved seeing some of my favorite characters from the other series pop up as well! Now I need to know what exactly is going on, and I really need to know what is going on with Jamie!!! Because I need that woman’s story like right now LOL!!! Loved this one! Another phenomenal read!
Wow just wow! Anything these authors write either together or alone is a must read!!! Their stories take you on a journey that you will never want to see end. I have no idea how they can write story after amazing story. These characters have a past and now they are on tour together when Daisy joins as Brooklyn Dawn’s makeup and hair stylist. Once Daisy’s had enough of Oz’s behavior I could not put their story down. Play Fast is an emotional rollercoaster of laughs, tears, friends, sexy times with some suspense.
This book was well worth the wait. It was a great book. With lots love making and heartbreak. (Oz the bassist and Daisy the hair dresser) But these ladies really know how to write a great book. All I can say is no one is really safe within Ripper Records. But such a great read. U can’t wait for book 3 to come out.
Loved it!!
A sexy hot romance. The authors take you into the world of ROCKSTARS. The characters are sincere and emotional and they will hold you captive page after page. The churning feelings and sexy hot bedroom scenes won’t let you put this one down. I am so glad Cari & Taryn continue to share and even expand their talented family of musicians with me. Fan for life.
As always, Quinn and Elliott do not disappoint, and I enjoyed every single bit of Daisy and Oz’s story. These two were fiery and passionate–in short, they were far from boring. They deal with some heavy history, and while there were times that smacking Oz upside the head was a very real temptation, Daisy was the true rock star in this book. She stood her ground when necessary and was such a source of strength for Oz when need be. The usual elements of romance, angst, and wit are ever present, but let’s not forget that there’s an edge of mystery and suspense this time around. With the story arc that spans the entire series, not everything gets resolved in this second Brooklyn Dawn novel; however, Oz and Daisy do get their much deserved happily-ever-after. Play Fast easily snags five stars.
I liked this book! I’m still trying to find my way in the Brooklyn Dawn world, so the characters don’t feel as familiar to me as the characters in some of the other series, but with that being said, I really enjoyed Oz & Daisy. I thought they had great chemistry and I liked the shared history. I also like how each book brings us further into the world of Brooklyn Dawn. I do wish that all the crazy criminal stuff was over, one of the reasons I’ve loved these different rockstar series so much was that they felt realistic and not cheesy and this new constant element is kind of ruining that for me. Overall though I enjoyed the book & I’m excited for the next one.
This is another great hit by two authors that haven’t written a bad book. Oz and Daisy’s story is great. One of the best things about the rocker books are you never know who is going to show up in the books. Watching oz and daisy with their demons and working through them. I could not put this book down and again waiting for the next in the next installment of Brooklyn dawn.
