Definitely a book you won’t be able or want to put down.
Oz nd Daisy’s story is filled with angst and self recrimination. Oz has had a rough last five years. Dealing with his sister and mother’s death. He constantly is trying to decide if he did enough for them. And how do you go on without a family?
Daisy has always been attracted to her bff’s brother Oz, but all he seems to do is hurt her with his actions and inaction. Daisy decides he’s hurting so much she needs to reach out to him.
The romance between these two is hard fought, both between them and in Oz’s min.
We do catch up with the rest of Brooklyn Dawn.
But the main focus is the mystery of who is trying to hurt Ripped Records bands?
The ending gives a small clue but we are no closer to learning who it is and why.
I thought this was a great addition to the Brooklyn Dawn series. Oz is such an interesting character. Torn by a past that is controlling his future. When the one person that shares his painful past confronts him about it? What an emotional journey he goes through. Daisy has liked Oz for years. Will he ever get past what happened and see her more than his sister’s best friend? I am a huge fan of Oz and Daisy. Their chemistry was off the charts. Add in appearances by Lila and Nick from prior books and the other members of Brooklyn Dawn and i found I could not put this one down.
A tragic past links these two people together and find they loved each other all along.
This unlikely pair only comes together because of Daisy’s moxy and determination.
This is another, well written, action packed and hot as hell.
Since she joined Brooklyn Dawn’s tour as their hair and makeup artist, Oz has been avoiding her and she’s done with it. So she decides to steal Oz’s truck to get him to finally talk to her, and it sets off a chain of reactions that will change their lives in ways they never saw coming. She’s tired of Oz ignoring her, and she wants someone to just talk to about the mutual person in their lives – her best friend and his sister, who died in Daisy’s arms. But is she prepared for Oz? The rockstar? The man she’s always loved as more than just her best friend’s brother?
On thing’s for sure – Oz isn’t prepared for Daisy. He’s sworn off love and feelings, but Daisy has always gotten under skin, and her joining his tour has done more than get under his skin. He’s not sure how to handle exactly how he feels about her, what her presence is doing to him, all he knows is he wants her, even if he knows he’s not good enough for her.
Is Oz prepared to power through his insecurities and just be with Daisy, or will he allow them to guide his behavior into hurting Daisy again? If only they could get on the same page. About their feelings for each other. About their feelings for the ghost that lies between them. And if only the forces outside of themselves who are trying to take down Lord Lewis and co would disappear and leave them to find happiness.
I loved this sorta enemies to lovers rockstar romance. Oz and Daisy have such intense chemistry and it manifested in really, really interesting ways. From avoiding each other, to devouring each other, but sometimes hurting each other, I was glued to my Kindle as I was reading their story. I may have wanted to smack Oz a few times and hug the shit out of poor Daisy, but I fell in love with these two and their crazy love story. Now I’m just waiting for Teagan and Cooper’s story, Play Mine.
Daisy has her dream job. Hairdresser for Brooklyn Dawn’s world tour. It doesn’t hurt that she gets to look at Oz every night. She’s had a crush on him since she was a teenager. Too bad he hates her and holds her responsible for his sister’s death.
Oz is going to lose his mind. It’s been five years since Kerry died. And now Daisy is in his space. He’s been ignoring her the best he can, but it’s getting impossible. And she steals his truck and tags along on his long weekend. Yep, he’s going to lose his mind.
It seems trouble is still following Brooklyn Dawn. But is it them or Ripper Records as a whole. If you have been on board since the beginning with Oblivion, then you know, trouble seems to follow Donovan and all of his bands and Brooklyn Dawn is no different. How much security can they add before they break?
Come along on another great tour. Can’t wait for the next book.
This writing duo can always be relied upon to give us strong, feisty and sometimes quirky female leads in their stories and with Daisy Flannigan they’ve certainly done that. Despite Oz being the rockstar here, for me it was Daisy who stole the show. She’s tough and resilient, confident in an unassuming way, and despite her own sorrow over past events, for the most part she’s got her act together. She fun and funny and I loved her.
Oz is a rather damaged soul and it took me a minute to warm to him. He’s rather an enigma and I found it difficult to get a handle on him. His way of dealing with sadness and remorse was to effectively run away from those emotions, to try and block them out rather than face up to them, or find comfort in the bottom of a bottle. He made some bad decisions, but I was pleased to see that, with a little advice from a certain more experienced rocker, one who makes a fantastic cameo appearance, he did a lot of soul searching. Although I can’t say he’s blessed with a great deal of finesse, and it did take him some time, ultimately his heart was in the right place and his actions went a long way to redeeming himself in my opinion.
Overall, Play Fast is more angsty than I was expecting. Things get very hot and heavy between Oz and Daisy until the little bubble they’re living in is burst and a big dose of danger brings them down to earth with a bang. We know from the previous book that there’s an unknown entity at work here, but I’m loving the suspense and intrigue, even though I’m desperate to know what’s going on and the fact that it’s driving me a little mad!
I don’t think I’ll ever tire of saying that these authors know how to write rockstars like nobody’s business. They give every musician their own unique style and personality and I can’t wait to read what life has in store for each of them in the future. I’m especially curious about Jamie, who’s great fun and larger than life but there’s more to her than meets the eye. I feel she was a little more testy than normal in this book, even for her, and I can’t wait to find out what’s going on there. I have to say my very favorite parts of this story were when the eclectic members of Brooklyn Dawn came together as a band, whether it be jamming together backstage or rocking everyone’s socks off onstage, I loved it. I’m a huge music fan and the vivid imagery of the onstage antics conjured up by these authors, together with the musical references warmed my little heavy metal heart. I can’t wait for more!
Play Fast is the second book in the Brooklyn Dawn series. One thing I love about these two authors is their way of creating a world that connects so many of their series together. What is usually background only characters end up having their own stories.
I loved Oz and Daisy. Their book has it all. I’ve always enjoyed seeing the snippets of Brooklyn Dawn in the background and so far their books are not disappointing in the least. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Isn’t Oz a territorial thing, I gave her all the assistance she needed. Yeah, that was bad even for me. When Noah shot me a baleful glance, I cleared my throat. I mean, I bandaged her wound. With Oz and Daisy things tend to go flying, “…she looked around frantically. Where are my panties? A little sheepishly, I pointed upward to where they were hanging from the ceiling fan.” I liked this book, I loved Oz. ..
Another emotional rollercoaster of a read. Lots of steam heat, but also tender moments between Oz and Daisy, and major emotional healing for both of them around the death of Oz’s sister. I am wiped out, but in a good way. Can’t wait for the next Brooklyn Dawn installment, as the suspense/mystery thread continues. Amazed at how this team keeps their plots new and interesting through all their series – they are the Gold Standard for Steamy Rock Star Romances!
This book gives you an interesting look into what has made OX the way he is today and what has left Daisy feeling like she has no friends or place in the world. Both of them have been broken from an event in their shared past. Now that Dasiy is touring with the band together they need to figure out their attraction to each other and how to move forward. While someone is targeting the label, the band and those close to them safety will be most important. We get all Brooklyn Dawn along with Lila, Nick and a few others making appearances. Good afternoon read with some sexy encounters along the way.
Oz and Daisy have known each other since they were kids. Daisy was the best friend of Oz’s sister, Kerry. Everything changed when they lost Kerry. Now years later Daisy walks back in to Oz’s life and band. Daisy gets the job of hair and makeup for Brooklyn Dawn. Oz is the bass player for the Brooklyn dawn and now must deal with his painful past. With so much history and pain could these two ever make it work? I can wait to read then next Brooklyn dawn book!!
Taryn Quinn has done it again. If you are in the mood for an angsty, hot, emotional rollercoaster, look no further, Oz and Daisy are what you’ve been looking for!
Oz is the quintessential hard rocking, head banging, hair metal kind of guy. If you need someone to show you how to trash a hotel room, his number should be first on your speed dial. But lately Oz has been backing off his bad boy, play boy ways, finding it less and less satisfying. Could any of that have to do with a new crew member that joined the tour six months ago?
Daisy is now hairstylist and make up artist to the stars. At 23 she’s landed her dream job working on tour with one of the biggest rock bands. The only fly in the ointment comes in the form of her best friends older brother. The one that completely shut her down at the death of said sister. It’s been five years, but the chill between them is still palpable and has reached its breaking point, for Daisy at least. What’s a girl to do except steal a bad boy rockers truck and kidnap him on a road trip to a secluded cabin. What could go wrong?
Daisy and Oz go from 0 to OMG hot in no time. After a wild weekend, things just get too hot to handle. But a strong Daisy is not going to beg. And Oz may just find out he made the one mistake that may not be forgivable.
These ladies did an amazing job on this book. I absolutely loved this book. I could not put this book down. Daisy and Oz’s story had some heartbreak and hot moments. you can feel the chemistry that they had. They had a dark past and they haven;t seen each for five years til Daisy got her dream job. i can not wait for the next one.
My oh my! Oz and Daisy set my ereader on fire! They run so hot and fast you dont even have time to get out your fan! I devoured their story from the first word until the last. You see glimpses of characters from previous books so if you need your fix, its here. Oz is a damaged soul that hasnt shared why. Daisy is from his past that he would rather have stayed there but she is too strong to stay hidden away. She is making her own way in the world they share and she refuses to let his distain get to her. He must be the one to come to terms with his past and it is a glorious thing to unfold. The writing duo of Quinn and Elliot have created this rock star world where you can feel the family they form. They are complex in their character development and story lines to the point where what you thought would happen never does but are blindsided by what truly unfolds. I am at the point where i cant wait for the next but dont since i know we get closer to the end. Since this is only book 2 of this series( yes, it is a stand-alone) i am hoping for certain characters to get together but i know im going to be wrong.
Oz and Daisy have a sad past due to his sister, who was Daisy’s best friend, dying five years ago. Oz has been pretty broken ever since. Daisy has had a thing for Oz for a very long time. She decides to force her company on him during a band break at the anniversary of Kerry’s death. And OMG are they hot together when they take off. That scene after the police station is scorching. And then Oz makes it fall apart. With drama and intrigue going on around them, he has to man up and make it right.
Oz and Daisy’s story had me so much on edge. I couldn’t read it fast enough. The 2 have been through so much since Oz’s sister and Daisy’s bestfriend died. Their coming together is explosive even though Oz feels like he does not deserve her. I so loved reading this book
