Run, he whispered in my ear. While you still can.I walked into a club called Ruin and found it—and him—when he bent me over the piano he was playing.I did as he said, but not until after he’d decimated me in the filthiest way possible.I loved every second. That one, and the ones that came years later. When he sang with me against his will, although the words burned and the scar tissue left him raw. with me against his will, although the words burned and the scar tissue left him raw.
Nash has secrets, deadly ones, and he won’t let me in. He just gives me dirty little tastes of him that make me desperate for more.
To the world, I’m on top. The lead singer of a famous rock band.
With Nash, I don’t mind getting on my knees.
But someone is watching us. And our stalker isn’t content to stay on the sidelines any longer.
The curtain is about to rise. Win, lose…or die.
Author’s note: Play Dirty is a standalone enemies to lovers rock star romance. It ends in a happily ever after.

I so enjoyed this first book involving Brooklyn Dawn. As in other books by these authors, once I started I did not want to stop reading. Filled with so much emotion, Lindsey and Nash’s story was so well done. I felt their sadness, their anger but most of all love. Add in great moments with the other members of the band, I know you will enjoy this one like I did.

Lindsey and Nash meet through friends in the music industry. Their chemistry is explosive, but he denies himself the ability to have any personal relationships. Nash has a past that involved a best friend being hurt and it changed their lives forever. It has angst, a bit of suspense, learning to love again and a super hot couple. It may be read as a standalone in a new spin off series about the Brooklyn Dawn band. Quinn and Elliott write the best rockstar romance. I highly recommend you read all of their books!
Is there anything better than taryn Elliot anD cari Quinn rocker story. This one did not disappoint. One of the best things in these books is seeing other characters from other books of theirs and this did not disappoint. Lindsey and Nash are great together and you can’t help but root for them in good and bad times. I can’t wait for the next installment of Brooklyn dawn.
4.5 Emotional Stars
Lindsey and Nash has such an amazing story. They shared an incredibly strong chemistry and yet fought against it until they couldn’t any longer. The constant push and pull dragged me into their world and held me captive. Their connection was a perfect combination of sensual and emotional and I enjoyed every moment.
What I love about the co-authors is how they transport me into the world of a rock star and bring so much life to their characters. I’ve fallen so hard for their other bands and it’s an absolute treat when they make an appearance.
I can’t wait to get to know the rest of the Brooklyn Dawn band members on a much deeper level.
Brooklyn Dawn is finally here and they are amazing!
I’ve been looking forward to really meeting the Brooklyn Dawn gang for quite some time and I’m so excited to begin this new series and dive into this new band. And what a couple to start off with! Lindsay and Nash definitely steam up the pages. I love a book that starts off with a bang, in this case, literally!
Lindsay York is so my kind of girl! She loves to shop and dress up, but she is just as comfortable dressed down and natural. Don’t think you have her figured out just because you’ve seen her on stage. While she may play the ice queen sometimes, below that hard rocking exterior is a tender and passionate heart searching for its match.
Well, Alexander Nash has definitely met his match when he crossed paths with Lindsay! Nash is the quintessential broken and tortured rocker. He’s a recluse with a hard living past that has scarred him both physically and emotionally. It will take someone strong and brave to penetrate his armor, and Lindsay may be just the right combination of something Nash never even knew he was looking for. When these two unite, the sparks fly!
The book is filled with enough, passion, music and danger to satisfy all tastes. Plus it’s a great chance to meet the new cast of characters that will surely be delighting us for many books to come!
Another great beginning for this new Rockstar series. There are so many highs and lows, twists and turns, and all that amazing emotion that Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliot are so adept at making us all feel! Lindsay and Nash are both strong but unique characters. And let’s not forget they also have great chemistry, providing some scorching hot scenes!
I can’t wait to reread it!!
This is a longer Taryn Quinn Steamy Rockstar story that has a suspense element that is wrapped up in this book. Readers might want to give themselves a decent runway of time to read, or you might end up staying up all night to read just a bit more! At the start of the story Hero Nash is angry, wounded, abrasive, abusive and he is a bit of a temperamental jerk. However be patient and keep reading. First you get smoking hot steamy scenes as he reconnects with Heroine Lindsey and they experience their undeniable connection. Eventually this becomes a believable, heartfelt, hard-earned, meant-to-be Romance.
Some of my favourite parts of the story involved scenes with Logan from the Winchester Falls Series. Both Nash and Lindsey have lovely friendships with Logan, his wife and their dog. In these scenes in the middle of the book, we see Lindsey and Nash’s true heart energies. After these scenes you won’t be able to put the book down. I also loved Lindsey’s connection to her band Brooklyn Dawn who she considers her family. There are also great cameos from other characters in the Oblivion Rockstar Universe as Brooklyn Dawn tours and parties.
There is depth to Taryn Quinn rockstar stories as the authors give us a journey of emotional healing and love, as well as an intimate look into the emotional process of creating music. These authors never disappoint, and this story is angsty and suspenseful, with heart-pounding steamy scenes and heartfelt romantic moments as well as true friendships. I am really looking forward to more stories in this series.
Love is never easy. Sometimes it’s rougher than most. Especially when you have scars. Not just physical ones, even though, there are those. Sometimes the physical scars can make the emotional ones burn deeper. A love can help heal both types of scars and sometimes, nothing can…
Nash has a past. It’s left him a little broken. His past with Linds has left her a little broken. When their paths collide unexpectedly, can all of those broken pieces blend together to create something new and beautiful? Maybe, if they can find out who keeps throwing monkey wrenches into their plans. Besides themselves.
With some help from friends and music from the extended Oblivion family, Nash and Linds will Rock their way into your heart. Cari Quinn has written another vibrant, humorous and suspenseful romance that will have you completely wrapped up. They just get better and better. You won’t want to put this down.
There is so much I want to say about this book….just hard to get all my thoughts together.. This book will grab you right from the first page! I have such a book hangover from this one. This isn’t your typical romance story, which is a very welcome change from everything else. The wait for this one was totally worth it, can easily see why they had such a time with these two….
Wow, Play Dirty left me speechless, I laughed, I cried, I was captivated. I fell in love with Play Dirty. A definite one click book that you need to read.
An Engrossing, Entertaining Story
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. I really liked this book, “Play Dirty” from Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott, it was excellent. This is the first book in their new (Brooklyn Dawn Series). It’s an entertaining book with an Interesting, Easy-flowing storyline that was captivating and addictive. I couldnt put it down. I loved the really well written, engaging characters, I couldn’t help but love them, they really make this story great with their chemistry and interaction. It’s an Enjoyable, Intriguing, Romantic, Must Read Story.
Play Dirty is the first book in a new rockstar series by these talented authors and is a fantastic introduction to the guys and girls of Brooklyn Dawn.
There’s a wonderful cast of colourful characters, not least of all the leads in this case, Lyndsey and Nash. Lyndsey is the lead singer of Brooklyn Dawn and with her best friend Jamie, she blazes through life setting the world, and the stage, on fire. Strong, opinionated, intelligent, kind, she’s just my kind of woman and I loved her. She and Nash have amazing chemistry, but a moment of madness, of recklessness, of giving in to that attraction, has far reaching consequences. It was raw and frantic and deliciously debauched and was one of the hottest scenes I’ve read in a book.
There are several versions of Alexander Nash and I loved all of them, although he’s a little difficult to like initially. A talented musician turned record producer, with a less than stellar past, he’s often surly and anti social. However, as with all things, there’s a reason for his actions and I was pleased to see he got his act together and the real man behind the prickly facade emerged before long. An unlikely couple at first, I felt their differences were actually what made them the perfect together. However, despite having chosen the better path in life, mistakes from Nash’s past continue to haunt his present, to threaten his future and add a touch of intensity and dark suspense to the plot.
This is not the first rockstar book I have read and loved by these authors, they write musicians and their exciting, yet wonderfully complex, lives like no others. Many of their previous stories and characters will remain firmly on my list of all time favourites but never before have I wanted to climb inside the pages and lose myself to the magic of the music as much as I did with this book. These authors have a love and knowledge of music which clearly shows in their writing and the multi layered characters they bring to life. Within the first few pages I was wishing this band was real. I wanted to be able to hear their sounds, go to their concerts, buy their albums and rock out! I was so jealous of their creative ability and I would’ve loved to have had their musical talent and to have been involved in the song writing process.
The way these authors pay attention to the details means it’s so easy to become invested in these fictional people, their world, their camaraderie, their thoughts and feelings. The banter between them as a band is brilliantly written too, their humour and antics had me chuckling and ensured they were more than simply one dimensional.
You get a real sense that these rockers love their life and that’s addicting. The music references, the drama, the friendships, and of course the sexy times, all make for one amazing read. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us and the members of Brooklyn Dawn next.
i absolutely loved this book. One Hot night in a bar and two people cant get out of each others heads. A mutual friend need some help with a song and brought these two back together. Nash and Lindsey had chemistry and they couldn’t see it, this book is is a must read and i can’t wait for the second one to come out.
I have been waiting for this release and it was so worth the wait. Cari and Taryn can write!!! I always get excited for the next book and more for new series as this one. Every time I read their books I feel like I say the same thing – “WOW” – because they are just that every single time! Lindsey and Nash’s story is amazing. We have met them in other books but this is their story and a standalone. They have met before and now their paths have cross again. Their story has it all – a great band (can’t wait for all their stories, light, darkness, love, sexy times and some suspense. If you love rock and roll you must read everything Cari and Taryn write!!!
Play Dirty is the first book in the Brooklyn Dawn series. I have been waiting for this series for what seems like forever. If you’re a fan of Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s rockstar books, then you know of the band Brooklyn Dawn. They’ve been in bits and pieces of the different series. This book did not disappoint in any way! It was great. The way these two authors intertwine their series is flawless. If you’ve never read any of them before, you could easily pick this one up and not be lost just as well.
I loved Nash and Lindsey. They were so great together and their chemistry was amazing! I can’t wait for the next book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Yes please! Keep writing the Oblivion-verse books and I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT.
I adore the entire series, but I think the ones I like the most are those that span a variety of sub-genres. Rock Stars, Suspense, Angst, even a bit of Erotica – again I say, YES. PLEASE.
Warning Sign’s members are so multi-dimensional and defined that I honestly forget I’m reading fiction sometimes. I can’t wait to see the other character’s books, every single one of them.
This book centers on Nash & Lindsey. (The ONLY thing I can complain about – my last name being used as a first name always gives me hives.) Nash is the definition of a tortured artist. Fame had indirectly led to a tragedy that hurt not only him, but his best friend. So along with his literal pain, he also had severe guilt over causing someone else’s.
Where Nash is dark, Lindsey is light. She’s a bit of a cynic, and quite sarcastic, but underneath that, she’s an optimist. A study in contradiction for sure. She can see Nash’s pain, and recognizes a somewhat kindred spirit.
Nothing is black and white about these characters. I found myself wanting to chastise both of them at times for not understanding themselves or others. Of course, that’s just another reason this story is great.
I cannot recommend Taryn & Cari’s books (both together and separate) more. They are amazing. I’ve been with the Oblivion-verse from day 0, and I’ll be there until the end.
I’m giving Play Dirty FIVE bedazzled microphone stars.
Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott have yet to disappoint when it comes to rock star romances, but even I didn’t expect how awesome their Brooklyn Dawn series starter turned out to be! Talk about taking things up a notch, Quinn and Elliott have made Lindsey York and Alexander Nash one of their more memorable couples, sharing such a strong connection with a whole lot of tension–sexual and otherwise–the thrums throughout their story. This may be a longer read, but it’s so well-paced with a well-developed story and characters that you don’t even notice just how much time has passed from the moment you start reading till you get to the very end. This does NOT end with a cliffhanger, meaning that Lindsey and Nash do get their happy ending. Five stars for Play Dirty. Bring on Play Fast!
This is the first book about Brooklyn Dawn with the lead singer Lindsay York & Alex Nash. Nash is dark, brooding, scarred but so damn hot. I could feel the intensity of the underlying jealousy & need for Lindsay beneath the anger and darkness he hid behind. Nash was so bold in his arguments with Lindsay but she felt the pull to him anyway. These two fought their attraction but the heat between them couldn’t keep them apart. They were combustible together. And once we have Kyle in the mix nothing but chaos ensues, adding more emotions to push and pull of their new relationship.
Taryn and Cari have kicked off another winning series with Play Dirty. Alex and Lindsey have history; and neither is a big fan of the other. But they can’t deny the chemistry between them; and fortunately for us they don’t. Reading about these characters is like watching a movie unfold with your favorite actors — you are instantly invested in them, and want their happiness. There are ups and downs, and a sinister element woven seamlessly throughout, leading of course, the Happily Ever After. The authors have created another awesome facet of their rocker world and I’m very much looking forward to the rest of Brooklyn Dawn’s stories!
One of the BEST and HOTTEST READS YET. Lindsey and Nash’s story will rock your socks off, wet your panties, and bring tears too your eyes. This book is a must read if you LOVE HOT ROCK STARS.
Bring on the next Brooklyn Dawn Book, I can not WAIT!!!
