Run, he whispered in my ear. While you still can.I walked into a club called Ruin and found it—and him—when he bent me over the piano he was playing.I did as he said, but not until after he’d decimated me in the filthiest way possible.I loved every second. That one, and the ones that came years later. When he sang with me against his will, although the words burned and the scar tissue left him raw. with me against his will, although the words burned and the scar tissue left him raw.
Nash has secrets, deadly ones, and he won’t let me in. He just gives me dirty little tastes of him that make me desperate for more.
To the world, I’m on top. The lead singer of a famous rock band.
With Nash, I don’t mind getting on my knees.
But someone is watching us. And our stalker isn’t content to stay on the sidelines any longer.
The curtain is about to rise. Win, lose…or die.
Author’s note: Play Dirty is a standalone enemies to lovers rock star romance. It ends in a happily ever after.

Dirty me up!
Another fabulous and addicting rockstar romance by this talented and prolific writing team of Quinn/Elliott has hit my grateful kindle! Their Oblivion World, which I could never, ever tire of, continues to grow as a new series begins with another Ripper Records band, Brooklyn Dawn.
Lindsey York comes from a wealthy, privileged upbringing and her blood may be alittle blue but this rock and roll queen lives for the unmatched feeling she gets from singing her heart out on stage with her band, her true family. Her music and friends are her life and only loves… so far.
One night in a dive bar turns her world upside down when she has one of the most erotic experiences of her life with someone she thinks is an arrogant, 1st class ass. Now, years later, she still can’t forget him and doesn’t try to pretend anyone else could come close to making her feel that way again. Why does it have to be him?
Oh, burn me, this book was so sexy and exciting. I do love a hot, dark, brooding man like Alexander Nash. How could I not notice him and wonder what his real story was after reading the Winchester Falls series. Logan King’s friend, raspy voiced and mysterious Irishman, former musician, now very much in demand, reclusive music producer..well, just give me more!
Now, put these two musically gifted people together again against their will? Sparks, explosions and fireworks might be what you get as they face off with such animosity towards each other, you might get singed just reading about them!
Holy wow, want sizzle… it’s right here. Craving some enemies to more romance, this book has that and so much more. Like some crazy, twisted suspense?…you know Cari and Taryn have added this ingredient to keep you on your toes and near the edge throughout. Boy do they succeed, on all counts.
One of the best parts of this book for me had be how these tough, hard to break characters feelings were revealed so well in dual POVs, often presented through beautiful, heartfelt song lyrics, poignant and raw, for the world and each other to see and wonder about. Unique, meaningful, soul searching but always welcome in a rockstar romance and a lovely bonus every time.
A longer than usual book, thank goodness (I love big books and I cannot lie!) it could have gone on forever…I just would have toothpicked my eyes open and kept on going. Who wants a great story like this to end? Not me! I’ll be watching the calendar for Oz’s story and hopefully more from the Oblivion world I’ve binged, loved and still think about..a sign of storytelling at its finest.
They’ve done it again. This is Brooklyn Dawn’s lead singer Lindsey story.
She is attracted to Alexander Nash, a genius producer, who has kept himself in seclusion since the accident that changed his life.
This is more than just a romance. There is suspense, heartache, the dark looking for the light, second (third) chances, and of course a love story.
This book will book you from the start and you’ll be surprised at how quick time flies while you are ready it.
Lindsey and Alex are meant for each other, it just takes him a bit to realize it. As the two build that relationship there are forces that want to break them apart.
Love Jaimie and can’t wait for her book. It will take a special guy to match her.
Look forward to Oz’ book.
I was given this book for an honest voluntary review
If you enjoy an angsty rock and roll romance as much as I do then Play Dirty is a great book to get lost in. Quinn and Elliott have perfected the world of fictional rock bands and this is the start of a new one. Lindsey York is the lead singer of Brooklyn Dawn. As our story begins she is a rising star and happens to walk into a small club and into the piano playing arms of Alexander Nash. Nash is the darkness to Lindsey’s light. He has loads and loads of baggage and Lindsey knows that he isn’t good for her so after one hot moment in time she runs. Now it is three years later and their paths cross again because the rock and roll world may seem large yet it really isn’t. Lindsey has been asked to perform on a charity holiday album by her good friend Logan (you can read his story in the Winchester Falls trilogy) and Nash happens to be the producer of the album. These two may seem like fire and ice but Nash needs Lindsey’s light as much as she is attracted to his darkness. As if Nash’s history isn’t enough of a challenge to this blossoming relationship there is someone who doesn’t want these two to find any happiness and is trying to destroy their fragile start. Play Dirty has it all, great characters, intriguing plot, love and laughter, steam and more steam. It is told from dual POV and I cannot wait to see what happens next with the fictional band of Brooklyn Dawn!
Play Dirty, Quinn and Elliott’s newest series featuring Brooklyn Dawn is a crowd pleaser for sure. This first book’s main character and member of the band, lead singer Lindsey York and her love interest. From the first chapter I was drawn into the story, light to dark, emotional highs and lows with so much angst and roller coaster rides. I loved the book, recommend it and can not wait for the next book in the series.
This is book 1 in the Brooklyn Dawn series and for those of you waiting for this band’s stories to start-you will NOT be disappointed! In this first book we get lead singer Lindsey York and Alexander Nash’s story. If you have read these author’s other books then you remember seeing Lindsey and her band before. And Nash you meet in the Winchester Fall’s series-which is also excellent. Nash and Lindsey have epic chemistry right from the start but Nash has some serious demons that he has never truly worked through. And after one night neither thought they could truly have anything together, even if they felt there should be more. But when Lindsey is asked to help a mutual friend with a song, it forces them together. In more ways than one. What neither expects is for there to be someone who doesn’t want to see them find any happiness together. Or for things to escalate the way they do.
I absolutely loved this first book in the new series! Lindsey is exactly how I imagined her to be!She is not only smart but she is sassy and more than willing to do anything and everything for the people she loves. Nash has so many demons and issues and they just break your heart. He has this heart of gold that he hides from the world and it just makes you love him even more. Throw in the side characters (because hello! I love Jamie!!) and I loved the book even more!! I cannot wait for the next book in this series and I seriously cannot wait until Jamie’s book!! Loved it!!
Wow, just wow. I am completely blown away by Play Dirty. It is one of those unicorn books that grabs you from page one and doesn’t want to let you go. It leaves you with one heck of a book hangover!
This is book 1 of the Brooklyn Dawn series and it centers around Lindsay York, the lead singer of Brooklyn Dawn. They are her family and with the glimpses that we have gotten of them, I can’t wait for their stories. Her love interest, for the lack of a better term, Alexander Nash, a music producer, former musician and a recovering addict. He is the dark to her light, feeling guilt for all that went wrong because of a mistake he made ten years ago. Their love story isn’t rainbows and unicorns. It is so raw and gritty, so packed with emotion, you can’t help but feel their pain. It is a stalker watching their every move, wanting to destroy Nash’s life. Don’t worry though, there is a balance of lightheartedness with the interactions with the band and with Nash’s and Lindsay’s mutual friend Logan King.
I can’t say enough how perfectly Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn have written this book. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!!
I was excited to see this title appear on my kindle as this writing duo of Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott know how to deliver a rock star romance that has just the right amount of everything — heat, plot and a nice helping of rockstar antics. This is a new series about Brooklyn Dawn, a band readers may recognize as they have been introduced in the Oblivion series.
The book opens with Brooklyn Dawn’s front-woman, Lindsay York looking for some fun and finding it at a bar called Ruin. Alexander Nash. Their encounter is explosive. The beginning pulled me right into the story.
Nash is a character that we’ve seen before from this writing duo — a reclusive Irish producer that every artist wants to work with. He’s not exactly an “open” sort of guy. It takes some effort for Lindsey and Nash to sort out their feelings for each other and they get some help from Logan King in Winchester Falls. It turns out that Nash and Lindsey don’t just burn up the sheets, so to speak, they can also compose and perform together in an amazing way. When another artist turns up singing their songs, Lindsey questions everything about Nash, providing a dose of conflict in this otherwise predictable story.
There’s a third POV in this story as well, that being Kyle, Nash’s best friend. There are few surprises regarding this character and his motives toward Lindsey and Nash, and it takes a long time for all his plans to fall in place. I almost wish there was more from Nash’s point of view so I could have some sort of feeling about him, but this book was overly long as it was.
Overall, I liked Lindsey and Nash’s story. They were really good together and I absolutely loved Lindsey. The story sings when Lindsey and Nash are on page together and Lindsey’s best friend Jamie also lifted this story up. I did find Play Dirty to be long and at times too detailed and repetitious, and that’s why it’s not 5 star for me.
So worth the wait and more! This book definitely gave me the chills both good and bad throughout. But you can’t have light without the dark and the ladies definitely delivered. Can’t wait to see just how dirty the next book will be
Lindsey wasn’t looking for Nash, but when she found him in that club, she let him have his way with her one night, and it ruined her in the best of ways. Still, years later, she and Nash aren’t exactly friends, more like enemies, whose attraction is even hotter than Brooklyn Dawn’s music, and is begging to be consummated. Not everyone wants them together, though, and he or she will do anything to keep them apart.
Looks like I have another rockstar series to fall in love with cuz this first installment of Brooklyn Dawn is rockstar romance at its best! It’s suspenseful, a bit angsty, and beyond sexy. Nash is a broken, damaged man who really needed a bright light like Lindsey. She’s perfect for him – sweet but tough, and patient enough to wait him out even though his push and pull messed with her head (and heart) more than a little at times.
“There will always be that devil on my shoulder, urging me back to the dark. But nothing could be stronger than your sun, and the love I have for you. It glows inside me, steady as a sunrise.”
I love that there’s mention of some of my other favorite rockstar couples in Cari and Taryn’s musical world, and am looking forward to more Brooklyn Dawn members making music and falling in love.
ARC via authors.
Lindsey is quite the touchy feely girl at times, “when she casually let her hand drift over the growing bulge in my sweats, she said against my lips, “Sure is a good morning.” Nash likes to give his girl experiences, “we’re playing proper tourists today, remember? That means shopping. And if you picked up a few scanty pieces for the bedroom…” I trailed off and rubbed her pouty lower lip with my thumb. “I don’t suppose I’d mind.” I liked this book, I loved Nash.
This one draws you in until it has you by the throat and won’t let go until the end. There is so much that I found beautiful in this story that it makes my heart hurt for the beautifully written characters. The story is full of two souls, one light and the other dark, trying to fight for the love they find in each other. The roller coaster of feelings, love, hurt, betrayal, sorrow and still continue to find each other in the end.
The characters are strong-willed, but falling and not wanting to, and the inevitability to deny the truth is their love.
This is Brooklyn Dawn’s, Lindsey, and Nash’s story
This standalone enemies-to-lovers rockstar romance is perfection! This is an entertaining, fast-paced story of famous singer Lindsey York and Alexander Nash. These two have a mutual dislike towards each other and neither care to hide it. Yet, they cannot deny the strong attraction.
I absolutely adored Nash. He is prickly, broken, and rather closed off. My heart strings where pulled as I learned what all that he had gone through and the feelings that he grapples with. Shrouded in darkness, Lindsey’s vibrancy shines light on this tortured, former rockstar turned music producer. I found Lindsey to be rather endearing. She is a strong heroine, a glittery star who works hard and doesn’t often allow for downtime or love for that matter. Her band, the fans, and the music come first, but sparks fly when she is with Nash.
These two authors can write rockstar romances like no other. As with their previous books, Lindsey and Nash are strong, likable, and well-developed. The plot is good and I love the suspense that is weaved throughout the book. The kindle-melting scenes had me fanning myself while some of the dialogue had me swooning. It was great to see some of the characters from their others books and I really enjoyed learning more about the other band members in Brooklyn Dawn. In fact, the authors have left me begging for each of their individual stories. If you like strong characters, rockstars, and suspense, then you will love this book.
Absolutely fantastic, some of the hottest reading I’ve done in a while. Super excited!!! The writing just gets better and better. These ladies are awesome together!!!! Nash and Lindsey will tear at your heartstrings. Can’t wait for the next one!!!!!
PLAY DIRTY is the first instalment in Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott’s contemporary, adult BROOKLYN DAWN erotic, rock, romance series focusing on the members of the rock band Brooklyn Dawn. This is lead singer for Brooklyn Dawn Lindsey York, and musician/writer / record producer Alexander Nash’s story line. BROOKLYN DAWN is a spin off from the authors’ numerous rock series including Lost in Oblivion, Found in Oblivion, and Hammered.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Lindsay and Nash) PLAY DIRTY is an enemies to lovers/second chances (of a sorts) romance between lead singer for Brooklyn Dawn Lindsey York, and musician/writer Alexander Nash. Three years earlier Lindsey and Nash had a hot and heavy encounter behind the scenes then Lindsey disappeared from Nash’s life. Fast forward to present day wherein Brooklyn Dawn is one of the biggest rock bands in the world, and Lindsey has been asked to sing on an upcoming holiday album, an album co-written and co-produced by Alexander Nash. Sparks fly, words are said in anger as Lindsey and Nash must come to terms with what happened, and going forward. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Lindsey and Nash, and the potential fall-out as a stalker sets his sights on our story line couple.
Ten years earlier Irish born Alexander Nash’s life spiralled out of control. Alcohol and drugs destroyed his career when an automobile accident nearly took his life. A successful music writer and musician, Nash got his life back under control only to discover that not all was well in his well-ordered world. Lindsey York’s meteoric rise to fame came with a price including the paparazzi and fans who wanted more from the members of Brooklyn Dawn . A series of mysterious phone calls, and threats against her life find security tightened around Lindsey and the band, security that is about to drop the ball.
The relationship between Lindsey and Nash is an enemies to lovers; a second chance, of sorts between two people whose success on the music stage took off like a shot. Alexander Nash struggled to forgive the woman who walked away without looking back; Lindsey York fell for our story line hero, a man who struggle with Lindsey’s reputation, a reputation proliferated by lies and fame. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including several members from the other bands and the aforementioned previous series including Ripper Records executives CEO Donovan Lewis and Lila Ronson Shawcross Crandall. We are introduced to the members of Brooklyn Dawn: drummer Cooper Dallas, ead guitarist Jamie DuCaine, bass guitarist Ozzy Taylor, keyboardist Teagan Daly and rhythm guitarist Zane Landry; Roth Defense specialist Noah Jordan; up and coming singer Angel Martin; and Nash’s childhood best friend Kyle Brady.
PLAY DIRTY is a story of secrets, betrayal, friendship and family; forgiveness and moving forward, happiness and love. The premise is engaging, energetic and edgy; the romance is steamy and seductive; the characters are colorful, dynamic and charismatic. PLAY DIRTY is a fantastic start to Quinn and Elliott’s new Brooklyn Dawn rock romance series.
Nash & Lindsey’s story is emotional, suspenseful and sexy. They are both strong-willed people who didn’t go looking for each other but found something together that is beyond their control. They are pulled to each other in a most primal way, but not everyone wants them to be together. Throughout the story, we get to see some of our favorite people from the Oblivion and warning signs worlds which is a pleasure. These authors know how to write a hot, sexy rockstar romance you won’t want to put down. Looking forward to reading the next book in the Brooklyn Dawn series
Awesome Story & Narration Captivating, Intense & Heartfelt!
Play Dirty
Brooklyn Dawn, Book 1
By: Cari Quinn, Taryn Elliott
Narrated by: Kai Kennicott, Wen Ross
This book is awesome, Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott hit it out of the park again with another amazing novel set in their “Oblivion” world, a world full of interesting characters most are in the music industry one way or another. This book is Lindsey & Nash’s story, Lindsey York is the lead singer of “Brooklyn Dawn”, a band that broke out into rock scene several years ago, they have a huge following and play big venues. They are signed to “Ripper Records, the same record label as Oblivion. Alexander Nash is a record producer, he writes music and plays piano. Lindsey and Nash have history together, in addition to a friend in common, Logan King, they had a “hot & intense” one night in a piano bar NYC where Nash was playing. Fast foward to current day, Nash is working with Logan on recording and producing a Christmas album, when one of their artists screw up they need a replacement and Logan calls Lindsey and she agrees to do it. She had not known that Nash was part of the project and she was not happy about it either. Logan picks up on the angst and puts the two together to work on the song and work out their angst. Nash has his issues and when his dark past comes back to haunt him and threatens all that he loves. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the back and forth, all the the drama and angst, the heartfelt moments, the mystery, thrilling and suspenseful moments that take you to the edge of your seat and the hot loving and romance. I adored both these characters, they were great together and for each other, she was the light to his darkness. Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott, thank you for another awesome book, you ladies rock!
I listened to the Audible edition, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are talented narrators and voice artists. They do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life giving each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. Wen’s Alexander Nash was awesome, his Irish accent was melodic, Kai’s take on Lindsey was true perfection, she sounded as I pictured her to. Their duet performance captures the chemistry between the characters which enhances the story even more. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen
Dark, Dirty, Gritty, Steamy & Utterly Beautiful!!

Play Dirty: Made in Oblivion (Brooklyn Dawn, Book #1)
Lynsey York, Brooklyn Dawn’s lead singer is classy, friendly and a consummate professional. Her band is her family, music is her haven & her bestfriend & bandmate, Jamie DuCaine is her soul sista! She’s been feeling a little lonely lately, but after a dirty hook up that meant far too much & rocked her to her core, 3 years before, she hasn’t been able to face the thought of another man!!
Alexander Nash is a record producer extraordinaire. He’s reclusive in the extreme & rarely leaves New York and his secret laire (home & studio). One of the best guys he knows seems to drag him out of the darkness, by either bribery or blackmail though, it’s always for his charitable foundation too, Logan King! He loves him & curses him in equal measure. Due to an Act crashing & burning their work on the Christmas Album is in serious jeopardy, Logan calls Lindsey & begs a favour. Logan books her a flight & has the gap filled not realising Nash & Lindz have a tumultuous past – sparks don’t just fly they set off a forest fire!!Nash is a grumpy, rude & acquired taste at the best of times but his extreme animosity towards Lindsey is unbelievable given the kind of person she is. Logan’s solution to sorting Nash out, locking him up in the venue where the two of them very first met, The Barn, until they can sort their differences out!! Oh boy, do they ever sort each other out – on the piano stool & the stage floor!!
Nash has a lot of baggage & pain in his past so as much as he wants her he doesn’t think he deserves her or that she should be tainted by his darkness! They’re gritty & abrasive style together just makes each of them crave more though. They’re falling, falling hard and fast but whether they’re prepared to see & except it or run & hide is up in the air! But darkness is slowly creeping in, it’s barely noticeable at first, then stakes get raised bit by bit, who is/are messing with them??
I LOVED this book so hard! I have always liked what I’ve seen of this band in & around the other stories, in this exciting & loving rockstar world. I’ve been really looking forward to getting to know them all better, especially Lindz, Jamie & Teagan!! This is an emotionally raw read, more along the lines of the ‘Winchester Falls’ series than ‘Lost In Oblivion’ for instance, I was 100% on board with that! I look forward to digging into Oz & Daisy’s story next!
Debbie, 1970, UK
I have been very anxiously waiting for this series about Brooklyn Dawn! We have gotten little teasers about the characters and members of the band in Cari and Taryn’s other series, and I loved reading about Lindsay, their lead singer. It is a wonderful love story of Lindsay and Alex, a music producer and former alcoholic and addict. It seems they have some unfinished business from three years earlier, having sex in a dive bar on a piano LOL! Well lets just say they some things never change. Awesome love story with some crazy twist and turns. A MUST read!!!!!
