The dead don’t tell secrets… unless you listen.
The girl’s smashed-in face stared unseeing up to the blue sky, soil spilling out of her mouth. A hundred flies hovered above the bloodied mess.
Westerley research facility is not for the faint-hearted. A ‘body farm’ investigating human decomposition, its inhabitants are corpses in various states of decay. Absolutely love the Detective Kim Stone Series. Well written, great characters that stay with you long after you finish reading. Kim’s world is shaken when she is forced to face the past in order to stop a serial killer and the true evil pulling the strings. Hard to put down!
Amazing series, cannot wait for more
A good story, macabre setting, exciting
I Love Angela Marson books. They are always exciting and difficult to put down
This whole series is 5 star. Angela Marsons is right up there with the very best crime writers. The detective team are believable, and the plots are great.
I couldn’t put this book down and I was surprised who the killer was.
Fantastic thriller. Very suspenseful with great characters. Kept me guessing, which is rare.
I will read anything by this author!!
Love. Kim Stone such a great character. Once you start you cannot stop reading. You never know with all the twists and turns very entertaining
Kim Stone is a detective visiting a body farm to learn how the dead can help find their killers.
But there is a new dead body, not one of the regulars! With her partners, Bryant, Stacy and Kevin, you see the way the team works to track down information and gain forensic information.
One new dead body is a case but a second body, still alive, signals the word serial killer.
Each character comes alive, foibles and all, under the author’s pen. Kim, in particular comes across as gruff and hardened…..but there is more than meets the eye. Tracy, a reporter is trying to get a headline and information and through grit determination. The last thing you expect is to see Tracy and Kim work together
The past keeps coming into the story, past hurts, past sins, and past regrets. The victims like Jemima feared they had been stalked before being taken. The next victim Isobel, survives the beating, the dirt filling her mouth, only to wake with few memories. Kim and her team check into the past of victims and workers at the body farm. Some have secrets and fears.
Remember the word “Mandy”, it’s meaning near the end really shows you how terrific the plot is and wow! You see what you want to see, and that in itself can be dangerous….the only clue I will share.
The intricate plotting, the characters, their past regressions all play a part. Look past the outward appearance of people and see the real person…..you may be surprised. And the atmosphere takes on a dark stormy turn with a need to hurry and save another woman.
The ending of this book really threw me, I was so shocked and excited and it made perfect sense!! This is a heartfelt, deeper experience in a mystery.
There is a case with a man they call Bob…what about Bob….it matters…. as does “Mandy”, as does bullying, as does hiding in plain sight…..
Read this in a quiet spot and immerse into the quiet countryside near a body farm, in a small rural community where you should feel safe.
And it reminds you that everyone struggles in their own way, and some move on and some never do. 5 stars
I dare you to figure the ending out!!
Angela Marsons is a phenomenal writer, one of the best I have read. When you have a story that GRABS you from the first page until the last…YOU HAVE A GOOD WRITER. When you have a story line you never figure out until the end…YOU HAVE A GOOD AUTHOR….
I have enjoyed having Kim evolve. FOR A CHANGE an author is having their flawed character evolving and the times she reaches out are so heart-warming. I have thoroughly enjoyed each book with her. I LOVE HER TEAM….They are believable and MELD into a UNIT that plays so well. Bryant is so perfect a play-off for Kim and her boss is so clever.
I love how she plays off of the medical examiner and getting bits of all the characters back stories is so nice.
To show characters that are HUMAN is great.
