I’ll never fall for Max Donovan. Forget his money, his gaming empire, and his joystick. The CEO of the world’s hottest gaming company is no nerd. Max Donovan is cocky, commanding, and ruthless… and that’s in public.I need his business and his money. To win, I have to play by his rules.I’m ready for anything.Baggage? He’s already lived more than most people have in a lifetime.Secrets? The empire … lived more than most people have in a lifetime.
Secrets? The empire he’s built doesn’t come without them.
Broken hearts? Not if I never risk mine to begin with.
The fact that he’s devastatingly attractive, shockingly intelligent and impossibly jaded is irrelevant.
Even if his irresistible mouth, sarcastic comments and eyebrow piercing leave me dying to know who he is behind closed doors…
None of it matters.
Because his game is the only one I can’t afford to lose.

Exciting romantic comedy
Excellent romance
I loved this story because of its characters, its intrigues, the humorous and passionate side of Payton and Max, as well as their hot romance.
The relationship between these two characters is addictive from the first chapter when Payton thinks someone make a prank and sends her to meet Max, a customer, who asks for a loan in millions of dollars. When she understands her mistake, she must come back to convince him to become her client, even though his file is not so easy to defend and that problems and attacks are not lacking for her in the world of the bank, nor for him in the video games world.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

I really enjoy a nerdy character in a romance but have a hard time finding good ones. I enjoyed that Max was a game developer and Peyton was a financial adviser. I enjoyed their romance.

Book one in the Play series is a well written story with a very good storyline. Payton Blake and Max Donovan are to people that should not work as a couple as well they do ,but love finds a way. I enjoyed reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first book by Piper Lawson that I have read even though I have several of her books on my Kindle (I have a huge TBR pile). Why did it take me so long to read this book? I loved the story. You would never think that a book that is about gaming could be turned into such a great romance book but it was done. I loved it. This book had everything – humor, some swoon worthy moments and plenty of heat. I will be reading more of her work starting with what I have on my TBR and will go from there. If you haven’t read this book yet, I highly suggest it and do it soon, you will not be disappointed.

Dear Piper, you have done a terrific job by writing this book. I loved it! A successful independent woman fell in love with a nerd. Payton and Max are both driven and want to succeed in their professions but they are also different from each other. They don’t say in vain that opposites attract. I loved the storyline plot and well develop characters. It is easy going funny love story that I will definitely want to read again.
Recommended! I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
Read the whole series…enjoyed them!
Interesting romance between a gamer and a banker.
Loved it and loved the characters.
Great read
I didn’t think I would like this as much as I did . It is very well written. It is fun and dramatic romance. Loved the characters.
I’ve loved every single book of Piper Lawson’s that I’ve read! Max is the sexy, brilliant CEO behind Titan – a video gaming company that takes playing to a whole other level. Payton is a banking associate looking to bring in new business, who thinks her meeting with Max is a prank set up by her competition. The two begin working together and getting to know one another. It’s a story with depth – feelings, emotions, characters and supporting characters – a story you just want to get lost in. I had to read NSFW and Rise (the other 2 books in this series) immediately after – and they were just as good!
I love the witty and how it’s written. It’s aimed for younger adults who love romance and erotica’s. Which is wonderful because young adult books don’t dive into erotica, and some books for adults can’t relate to what young 20 year olds go through. This definitely was relatable and excellently written with witty, drama packed full of romance.
Didn’t hold my attention
Loved it. Great characters, steamy romance, enjoyed every bit of it!
Greaat story. Can’t wait to read an encore
I like how the characters didn’t fall in love at first sight. I also like how they both worked it wasn’t like they got to just hangout all the time. It was a quick read I couldn’t put it down.
NSFW was such a better book, as well as others of Lawson’s… Play was disappointing w/ an unlikeable “H”.
Really liked the character, Peyton, is a strong and smart woman. I like that she speaks her mind and is no push over. Loved some of the funny things (like her co-worker). And loved tMax. Definitely a strong character- flawed but likeable. Good read.
Play by Piper Lawson is a fantastic contemporary romance. Ms. Lawson has delivered a well-written book and packed it with fun, lovable characters. Payton is working her way up the ladder at a bank. Max is a hot nerd that makes video games. Their story is loaded with drama, sizzle and laugh-out-loud humor. I totally love the humor in this book! I enjoyed reading Play and look forward to reading more from Piper Lawson soon. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
