I’ll never fall for Max Donovan. Forget his money, his gaming empire, and his joystick. The CEO of the world’s hottest gaming company is no nerd. Max Donovan is cocky, commanding, and ruthless… and that’s in public.I need his business and his money. To win, I have to play by his rules.I’m ready for anything.Baggage? He’s already lived more than most people have in a lifetime.Secrets? The empire … lived more than most people have in a lifetime.
Secrets? The empire he’s built doesn’t come without them.
Broken hearts? Not if I never risk mine to begin with.
The fact that he’s devastatingly attractive, shockingly intelligent and impossibly jaded is irrelevant.
Even if his irresistible mouth, sarcastic comments and eyebrow piercing leave me dying to know who he is behind closed doors…
None of it matters.
Because his game is the only one I can’t afford to lose.

Fun. This is a fun, sexy romance that grabbed me from page 1. Oh, the first meeting at the coffee shop with Payton and Max is priceless. Payton is working her way up at a bank in the loan/finance division. She is sent to a client meeting at the last minute without any prep time. When she crosses path with the sexy, pierced eyebrow, t-shirt wearing guy, well, how was she to know he was a CEO for a billion dollar gaming company. As she works to repair the damage, Payton and Max embark on a wonderful cat and mouse game (or should I say Coyote/Road Runner) that will keep you turning the page. Max is paranoid with his technology, he is a genius game writer, but Payton finds a way past his walls. Can these two unlikely characters find a road to happiness? Loved this refreshing, fun, sexy read with just the right amount of drama.
Wow! I totally, totally loved this story! After reading and enjoying ‘Shooled’, the debut novel from this writer I was looking forward to reading more books from her. So when I discovered this book ‘Play’ and saw that it was about a nerd. I immediately bought it and read it. Where her debut book ‘Shooled’ had some slow bits in it, Play didn’t have them. The reading pace in this book was just great.
Payton Blake has just made promotion, she’s now the youngest associate of Alliance Financial. She’s very excited about it! After working very hard for the last few years, this is her reward. But every situation also has a down side to it and here, it’s the fact that she is now the ‘new’ opponent of Avery. A very arrogant guy who works there too. But Payton knows that she can handle him. Her best friend Charlie doesn’t call her the ‘Dick Whisperer’ for nothing! Payton can handle even the most difficult client with ease. And Payton is very confident about this too, until she meets Max Donovan, a future new client. Max isn’t what Payton expects when they meet for the first time but after hearing some shocking news from her mother, Payton does her best to convince Max Donovan that her company can give him what he needs for his business. (They both need this deal for very different reasons.)
Max Donovan is a legend in the gaming world. He’s also a contradiction. Sometimes he’s acting like the nerd that he is by totally coming absorb in his work and forgetting everything else but he’s also hot, arrogant, cold and he has a piercing in his eyebrow! Max Donovan isn’t only her biggest client but also her most stubborn and paranoid one. But Payton must confess that he’s also getting to her. And when through circumstances they have to spend more time together, there’s no denying the attraction between them but can a woman who likes control and guy who find it difficult to trust really have a future together?
This story really had everything for me. You had the hot nerd guy (Piper Lawson really let me fall in love with Max Donovan!), you had Payton, the girl who works really hard and likes control but still manages to get herself in funny situations. There were the steamy love scenes and the hilarious moments. This story is told from Payton POV. I really loved the fact that there was an epilogue in it.
Play is definitely a book that you should try!
