Received as an ARC (2019); this is an honest review. Time is running for the crew of the Tempest, with the ship damaged nearly irrevocably by the assaults of the Andromeda and Bulag; if a solution isn’t found soon, the Tempest could become a floating tomb. With no other choice, Evie orders the crew to head down to an eerie green hued planet she’s seen in visions that could house the murderous Andromeda aliens hell bent on killing them and the Coalition. There isn’t another option, they need a temporary home for repairs to get back home. When the first wave vanishes without a trace, the second wave will soon realize just how alien this world truly is. Finding themselves cast in perpetual twilight is one thing but discovering a bear-like animal species slaughtering the crew descends everything into an unfolding nightmare. It’s a race to escape before they all wind up dead, but finding out how to get off the planet proves more difficult than imagined; for Evie a haunting new twist to the mission could put herself and her crew into a deadly fate when she comes face to face with the Andromeda aliens. The secrets they possess could shed light on her past but are the consequences to acquire that knowledge worth the sacrifice? If you thought the previous novel- Secrets Past- was an emotional roller coaster; PlanetFall takes it to a whole new level. You won’t be able to put it down without finishing it first. Highly recommended.
“Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.”
I’m so thrilled with this series, Eric Warren continuously brings up intriguing scenarios, hard to digest moments, and moral and ethical issues, too hard to assimilate in havoc wrecking situations. High concept, thought-inducing sci-fi, the storyline excels in creating memorable characters in settings that sometimes challenge belief but seem so normal when reading. Dynamic suspense, three-dimensional characters, with a sharp dialogue.
Original aliens, plausible high-tech, fast-paced adventure written with a dash of wry humor. And..Oh my! What an
astounding discovery! I couldn’t believe it, so shocking it was! In fact, there are many mysteries and secrets revealed in this premise, that kept me on my toes, with edge of the seat scenes. The suspense holds to the end. I already want to read Broken Seeds #6, and of course, I don’t want the series to end! Lol.
