Planet Perfect is a beautiful piece of writing. A romance novel with a a bit of dystopian feel to it. The world building descriptions are well detailed and descriptive. It appears futuristic & I love the concept idea of a amazing new world. This novel deserves more than five stars as it is exceptionally authored. The premise of the novel is highly intriguing & the narrative works well to portray the novel. It will have you falling in love with the character’s, crying & laughing right along with them. The character’s leap off the page into the real world. Grab your tissue box as you will need it as this novel breaks your heart and works its magic to heal it as much as possible. A tear jerker passionate read that I highly recommend reading.
Planet Perfect. Sounds pretty perfect right? I was wary of reading a book about perfection, that puts a lot of weight onto a book. Does it not? I mean perfect literally is in the title. And let me tell you what a perfect little story this was. Ok, maybe not too perfect since it didn’t get a perfect score. (Wow, that’s a lot of perfects in one paragraph.)
Everyone wants that life, the life where everything goes your way. You live in a safe neighborhood, your healthy and happy. Nothing goes wrong. Unfortunately, no matter what perfection can’t be achieved. What you find as perfect the next person you run into may not.
This novel explores not only one person perspective of perfection but Amy journey through fertility. While is perfect in every sense from the outside person view, internally she dealing with the inability to carry a child.
Jack, Amy’s husband. Jack seems pretty much, think Jack for This is Us. Yeah, you know “Hold my crockpot” guy, that Jack. Yep, Jack meet Jack. They essentially come off way too similar. To the point that it not a good thing. It really came off as seeming like Jack wasn’t given much though just copied. I don’t know if this book was planned before This is us came out and it’s just coincidence or if he was the inspiration behind Planet Perfect Jack, but the uncanniness is just overwhelming.
The storyline was quick but yet very prominent, It flowed meticulously from chapter to chapter that is until the grand finale. Personally, I would have loved it not to end that way and a second book be written. But given this was a standalone, I still found the ending to be a tad predictable and kinda of just thrown together just to have a conclusion. I just didn’t feel like the Dr would have allowed it to end the way it did.
Now your thinking “The Dr”, who is this doctor, well, without giving too much away he or I should say they help Jack and Amy in their struggle with fertility. They are the key to the story and might I add give me the hibbie jibbies. Every single one of them total creep vibes.
I found myself asking more than once what would I give up for perfection, and placing myself in Amy shoes, wondering if that price is too high.
Overall I found this to be easy, quick and dedicated to its plot. I enjoyed the read. This isn’t the first Roth book that I read and it most certainly will not be the last. She has a way if her writing that really tugs at your heartstrings.
Charlotte Roth has a way of writing books that just suck you in from the get go. Her characters Jack and Amy are well thought out you just fall in love with them. It’s so beautifully written that you will not want to put it down. The first half of the book sets up characters lives past and present and the struggle to decide whether to go and live at a perfect place while leaving everything they’ve known behind to be completely safe and have a family of their very own. Once the second half gets going it may seem like the best place ever but appearances can be deceiving. This book has you turning page after page in anticipation of what will happen next. It is a very very good book and I would recommend it to everyone.
