I was pretty leery of this book strictly because of the cover (yes, yes, don’t judge a book by it’s cover, I know, but it’s not like you haven’t done it too!) I don’t typically read anything Amish related. It isn’t exactly my cup of tea, but this one surprised me. The main character is formerly Amish, and she lives in the city. I loved the fact that she was deaf, because that’s an unusual characteristic for a main character (at least in the books I’ve read), and it made things more interesting and suspenseful. I commend the author for her research. The plot moved along quickly with a lot of action. There was unfortunately some romantic feelings between characters, but it didn’t smother the story.
Another great Amish suspense by Dana R. Lynn. A quick, entertaining read.
I really enjoyed this book. It pulled me in right away. There was a lot of violence either in real time or remembering from the past. I received this book for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I gave it a 5* rating. This also dealt with the main character being totally deaf from birth, It was hard to stop once I got time to read. It had a lot of feels and tugged at the heart strings.
This compelling suspense novel grasps readers’ attention from the first and keeps them guessing who is behind the kidnapping and deaths and how Rebecca Miller, who is deaf, will escape her fate. Formerly Amish, she’s been part of the English world for ten years but may need to return to her place of upbringing to hide from the killer has been abducting her friends who were all once his prisoners. The exciting story touches the heart. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are mine.
An amazing adrenaline rush!
I absolutely love both Rebecca Miller and Miles Olsen! They are so incredibly well developed. The amount of details that are given as to how a deaf girl would be treated is fantastic. My heart broke for Rebecca every time that the distance between her and her family came up. I can’t imagine what it would be like to not be able to hear. This book helped me to have some understanding of what deaf people deal with all the time.
The plot for this story was wonderful! There were lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing as to how everything fit together. I just knew that I needed to find out how the mystery of who was attacking Rebecca and why turned out. The attraction between Rebecca and Miles was just bonus content for me.
