This is the 2nd book in the Moonlight and Murder series. Coyote and Sabine with others try to solve the murder of one of their friends. Murder, mystery, strange creatures, and a loyal track dog made the book an awesome read. Coyote and Sabine were attracted to one another but they were too young. When they met up again, their attraction was still there. All the characters were well-developed.
Pivotal Decisions is the second book in the Moonlight and Murder series by Reily Garrett. I have read a few of Reily’s series’ and I always know I will be in suspense and being shocked with the the twists. And it will have a twist of romance. If you read A Critical Tangent then you have met Coyote as Nolan’s hilarious partner and friend. Well, this is his story.
Coyote hasn’t step foot in his hometown in six years. He walked away and didn’t look back. He wasn’t sure if his family had forgiven him what had done. So, when his younger brother, Augie called for his help, he was on his way. To solve a murder of a friend that was more like family. What he didn’t expect was her. Sabine. The girl who intrigued him even back then and even more now. She carried a gun for a living and was all badass and sass.
Sabine crushed on her best friend’s brother as a teenager. She thought she was over it but clearly she wasn’t after seeing him again. But now was not the time for a roll in the hay. It was time to find a killer. And it wouldn’t be easy especially with the way her friend, Jinx was found. It was no amateur who did that to him. And now, that Jinx was gone there were so many questions. Why? And what were they looking for? It was definitely something to do with VR since that was what Jinx was working on. But who knew about Jinx’s secret projects?
It was time to solve a murder before there were more bodies. Bodies that would end up in the swamp if the gators had anything to do with it. Will the combined efforts of a ragtag group get the answers they needed before it was too late?
I thought this book was full of suspense, laughter, badassness, fun, and love. The group’s personalities blend amazingly. The women are hilarious and the men are protective. Both are ready for battle and want to keep everyone safe. I am not sure who is getting the next story but I do have a feeling and if I am right, it’s going to be some ride.
Quotes:
“Sabine, if you don’t stop, I’m going to handcuff you.” Cooling night air against his back did nothing to curb his rising lust.
“Yes, finally! Fur lined? If not, ‘s okay. I can deal.”
“Who’s a good boy?”
“If things get hairy, will he stay put?” Keiki asked.
“Yeah. He won’t like it, but he will.”
“Are you sure, Sabine?” Nolan asked.
“He’ll follow direct orders.”
“At least someone will,” Coyote grumbled.
“Keep giving me commands and you’ll be the one wearing a shock collar, but not around your neck,” Sabine grumbled.
This is the 2nd book in this series and is thrilling murder suspense story where Sabine and Coyote must work together to solve a case. This is a well written story which is filled with lies, deceit, suspense, and with twists and humour which all had me totally enthralled throughout this addictive page turner. I highly recommend for all.
Reily Garrett – Moonlight and Murder Bk 2 – Pivotal Decisions – Reviewed 3/4/20 – Read 2/28/20
Death, gators, the past, lost love and incredible action, have Coyote and Nolan on their toes!
@ddeegott Coyote Waylin had not been home for 6 years, not since that fateful night when he had to save his sister and afterward broke his baby brother, Augie’s jaw. He left and has not looked back, starting a life for himself in the hills of Pennsylvania. A good one with a future, a great partner, life looks good, till today! A desperate plea from his brother, that same brother! You can’t turn away, even if you aren’t sure of the reception you’ll receive from the rest of the family.
Augie and Sabine had been best friends for almost all their lives. Sabine had been there for Augie’s problems, and he had been there when things were so bad for her because of her family. Now he is there again to help their other friend, Jinx. Both Augie and Sabine had shed their problems of the past. Augie was working towards a business of his own and Sabine was now a gun-toting Ranger with Fish and Wildlife. Sabine had received a text from Jinx, telling her to meet him out in the middle of nowhere in the swamps of the Everglades. A place that he hates!! When they get there they find Jinx, dead and sitting in a chair, inches from the swamp water with a gator on its way. They can’t save him!! But when the bullets start flying they decide to get help. With this cunning killer, the stakes are massive and he has Sabine and Augie set as his target! The best help they could use is Coyote, thus Augie’s call because they know they are in deep trouble!
What did I like? Well, first off, Reilly was the Featured Author on my site for the month of February. She is such an awesome person with a background to pull from to make her books ring with truth and reality. Reilly also loves penning books that have sass and lots of action. Plus with both of us being animal lovers, I knew she likes adding one to her storylines. This one being of no exception. It’s incredible the way that she wove the dog into the story, making him one of the main characters with such a lovable nature but also to add humor in the middle of all the action. I just love reading her books!
What are you going to like? Action with a capital “A”, characters that are so awesome, with the feeling to them that you could know them, yourself. Humor with a touch of sass, throw in a little romance, plus the emotional upheaval of things from the past and you have one heck of a book that will make you lose sleep! The danger and intrigue are unbelievable, with the past reaching out, plus the reasons for the murder of their friend. Add, help from a quarter they never even knew was there, in addition to the dependability of Coyotes partner, Nolan. Now that is a mix that will keep you up at night cause you can’t put the book down. Look for this fascinating book on the 22nd of March… so mark your calendar, friends!

I cannot wait for book 3! Unfortunate events bring this crew together, but I just love them especially the newest and most important team member, Heath! What an adventure this book was. It had everything. You will be hooked as Reily does such an awesome job with details and the suspense! I received this ARC for an honest review.
Our heroine finds her best friend dead in the Everglades and this is just the start of the mystery. With a lot of help from friends and associates, she is going to have her hands full with this one.
This is book two of the series, but it works just fine as a standalone.
This is a romantic suspense story although the romance aspect builds slowly and late in the game. Which works just fine for me as it gives the main plot a chance to unfold. I found the story to be well written and easy to read although the plot was rather complex and required paying attention. The cast of characters is actually rather large, but they are well developed and each serves their role in the story (including a bit of comedy occasionally, which provided a needed break from some of the tense situations). Overall, this is an action filled story which will keep you flipping pages just to figure out how they are going to get out of their latest mess.
Highly recommended..

When Sabine’s friend Jinx is found dead, she must rely on the help of her other friend Augie to figure out why. Though they haven’t had the best relationship, they agree to put all tensions aside to work together. There is a killer out there, hunting them down, and if they aren’t careful, they’ll be next.
Suspense, twists, and mysteries galore! There were plenty of characters in this story, any of whom could be suspects. It was fun learning about each of their backgrounds, but at a point, it got a tad overwhelming. Even in the end, I still have questions, but I think that’s what made this story intriguing. Only a really good book leaves you thinking.
While there is plenty of suspense, there are some steamy/romantic moments in the story too. These were well done as well. I have to say though, my favorite part of the book is all the action.
The author has a way with painting a picture. The atmosphere of southern Florida was described so well that by the end of the story, it felt as if I were there.
Fantastic story all around.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
This was book 2 in the “Moonlight and Murder” series. Coyote Waylin hasn’t been home in six years not since the night he broke his brother’s jaw and saved his sister’s life. After receiving a desperate call from his sibling he goes home to help with a murder mystery. Sabine is a bad ass chick who carries a gun while out hiking she discovers her friend Jinx who called and ask to meet her dead which put her on a killers rader. She had a crush on her best friend Augie’s brother Coyote as a teen and when she sees him again all those feelings come back. Sabine is a girl that always intrigued him and now that she carries a gun it’s even more. I liked both of these characters. These two team up to catch a killer before more bodies and up in the swamp. This was a good read I don’t read a lot of mystery. I liked the secondary characters. I have read a few of Reily Garrett’s books before this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.
Book two in the Moonlight and Murder Series. The suspense and shocking twists and turns keep you turning the pages. The story line captivates you from the beginning and the romance between the characters is just as suspenseful as the mystery in the story line. You can’t stop turning the pages to find out what happens.
