“What a sweet, hilarious sports romance! Theo and Ans made me fall in love with their relationship. He was cocky, self assured and gorgeous, and she was feisty, sassy and everything I love in a heroine. This was my first Kristy Marie book but it won’t be my last. What a fresh book this was! “- LJ Shen, USA Today Bestselling AuthorKristy Marie brings you a hilarious novella about the problem with … Author
Kristy Marie brings you a hilarious novella about the problem with loving your best friend.
No one needs that many hookups!
Not even soon to be major league pitcher, Theo Von Bremen.
So, I help him by routinely thinning out his contact list—because I’m the best roommate ever. And he’s optimal baby daddy material.
For me—not Amanda 1, 2, or 3.
But since the man can’t take a hint; I’ll continue to spray his sheets with my perfume and accidentally leave my panties in his laundry.
That has to be enough to break a man eventually. Right?

This book was so good
I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but this story made me so damn sad. I know the previous book, so I should have been happy, but it’s so damn hard not to let the emotions, heartbreaks and tears touch you. WOW! I loved this prequel so much
I would love to read more and longer, but Kristy had to do it so good and exciting, that I read it in one go AGAIN!
That’s not fear
I think for all of you who have not read the series yet (what I really recommend to do immediately), you should actually read this book at first, before Commander in Briefs. That explains many things that happen afterwards and you will not be sad like me now
This story is so gripping and emotional and is of course so fantastic-amazing-fabulous written that I’m an emotional wreck and I don’t know what to do with myself now. Or maybe I know I’ll reread Commander in Briefs, so that I have something to laugh and swoon about
Have you already read this series? Trust me, you have to!
This prequel is maybe a little bit sad and the characters made me scream more than in the next book , but it’s the backstory of the hilarious, totally ridiculous funny and romantic first book in the series “Commander in Briefs”. This series is definitely a must read and I really hope Kristy!, that it was not the last about the couple.
Since reading Rebellious a few days ago I knew I had to go back to the beginning to see how the first generation of books started. Pitcher is the perfect novella to introduce readers to the Commander in Briefs series and I have every intention to read all the books before the second book in the next generation is released. Talk about addicting! Theo and Anniston… I know their love story is going to be EPIC and I can’t wait to see what happens between them on the next one. If you enjoy new adult, college, friends-to-(potential) lovers romances then I recommend this one! You’ll want to read it before Commander which is a continuation of their story!
:
This book is awesome.
I loved the depth of emotions and the special bond Theo and Anniston have.
Ans is the absolute best kickass heroine and officially my spirit sister. I can’t wait to get more of here.
5 stars and a baseball bat
This is a very quick but important novella to read before getting into the series. This prequel sets up the whole background of Anniston and Theo. We find out what their motivations are, their fears and most importantly what they think about each other. You get a good sense that these two have a very strong bond and are best friends for a reason. But both are frightened to take it any further for different reasons. Then Ans asks Theo a question I think he’s going to find hard to resist. Now on to find out if he fulfilled her wish. Bring on Commander.
Now this is the Theo and Anniston I can get behind wholeheartedly!
I was very middle of the road for Commander in Briefs. I loved the premise of it but there were some things I felt was out of place in the book. But overall I really liked it a lot and as such have read all of Kristy Marie’s books and she really stepped up her game with Pitcher.
This to me gives us the raw, unforgiving story of how Theo and Anniston met and the past that lead them to their HEA. It wasn’t pretty at times but for those who’ve read CIB you know their ending.
“We’re petty like that. We’re in love like that.
For me Ans is still the hero of this story. She has gone through so much but she still gives of herself mostly specifically to Theo. And yes at times he tries but he’s Theo and he still has some major growth to go through. So make sure you pick up Commander in Briefs to get the rest of the Theo and Anniston saga.
I’m not sure I’ve ever been hooked as fast as I was with this book. Instantly addicted!
This starts out with Stong, Kickass Anniston in Middle School and you get to see how she met Theo and their relationship. My heart melted so quick for these two between the laughter and friendship. The competition, banter was amazing. Of course in their relationship, Fear keeps them from becoming who you feel they are meant to be for eachother. It really tears at your heartstring. There is a lot of tension until…..
This was very addictive and I really enjoyed the rollercoaster of emotions and know it continues which I can’t stop myself from picking up the next book…Commander!
In this quick novella, we get the backstory of Anniston and Theo. While this does end on a cliffhanger, I know that the next book will give me exactly what I need and want! There is a lot of build up in this book, I’m bursting at the seams to read what happens next!
But I loved that we got their childhood together, and their college time together. I know it’ll make me appreciate their HEA even more when I get to it!
This was a great little story. I really loved the chemistry between Theo and Anniston. I loved their friendship and how they fought with each other. I loved the tension between the two of them, and how Theo would chase away every guy who looked her way. I look forward to reading the rest of their story.
Absolutely loved Pitcher and getting an insight to the start of Theo & Ans journey from friendship to possible love? Reading Pitcher makes me want to go back and read Commander in Briefs again! An absolute must read as are all Kristy’s books are!
I first read Commander In Briefs and was introduced to Theo and Anniston. With Pitcher, we’re taken back to the very beginning and see their friendship all those years ago. What happens when you have best friends that won’t admit their romantic feelings for one another? A great story that’s filled with comedy and love because jealously makes you do things to make sure no one else comes into the picture.
This novella can be read as a standalone and in no particular order in the series.
Kristy Marie evoked so many emotions from me while I read this short prequel to Commander In Briefs! I absolutely ADORE baseball! I don’t live and breathe it like some but it has always been my favorite sport. I played softball growing up and baseball with the boys “when they would let me”. I watched games with my Papaw at home and I always felt happier at the ballfield than I ever did anywhere else! So yea…you can imagine how long it took for Theo Von Bremen to steal my heart!
Meeting Anniston at the tender age of 14, their relationship can’t even begin to be compared to anyone else’s. She is his and he is hers! Of course, this doesn’t stop either of them from messing around with others, no matter how much it hurts them both to see the other with someone else. I can’t even begin to count how many times I wanted to throttle Theo’s neck for doing something with someone else OR Anniston’s for NOT staking her claim to make it stop! Instead they settle for shenanigans that prevent the other from scoring. It’s both hilarious what they stoop to and heartbreaking when they don’t work at times. I never had a moment that my eyes were not glued to these words.
Even though Commander came out first, you can still read Pitcher first. That’s exactly what I did and it was perfect! I love this series so far! I rolled straight from Pitcher into Commander and it was everything I wanted it to be! I can’t wait to continue the rest of the series.
I sound like a broken record here, but I loved Pitcher!! Kristy Marie just wowed me again!
I loved this prequel to Commander, and the extra look into Anniston and Theo! If you have read Commander or Pitcher then you know there is absolutely no way you cannot love these two! Pitcher takes us back to the very start of their friendship all the way in middle school.
Kristy Marie hooked me from the very start with Pitcher. This book gives me all the feels. Theo and Anniston will always be one of my favorite couples. Their push/pull relationship had me wanting to scream in frustration. Their witty banter had me laughing out loud at times. If there is an emotion to feel Kristy Marie had me feeling it during Pictcher.
Kristy Marie delivers an amazing novella with Pitcher! The writing, the characters, everything is once again perfect and has me needing more. I can’t wait to move onto the next book in the series.
Theo and Ans are back!! This is the prequel to the commander in briefs series where you get to know how Theo and Anniston met.
Just putting this out there, Theo and Ans are one of my favourite couples… EVER!
Anniston’s personality is exactly how I want mine to be. Self assured, kick ass, take no prisoners and sassy as hell. Even from a young age she knew how to keep Theo on his toes and I loved it.
I love that Kristy Marie can just suck you into the world she creates and makes you feel like you are a part of it.
Full of funny moments, banter and angst Kristy Marie has somehow made me fall more in love with these characters, which I didn’t think was possible.
Pitcher, Commander in briefs, Gorgeous and Drifter are all available to read now.
Why did it take me so long to read Kristy Marie?? I am in love with this book! Pitcher is the perfect funny/sexy introduction to this series. The writing is wonderful and Theo and Ans and their stubborn hearts have MY heart and I am thrilled to go on this journey with them! 5 stars for Pitcher…bring on Commander!
I can’t erase the huge grin on my face as I’m writing this review because Pitcher was everything I hoped for and more. I’m not a huge fan of prequels or the friends to lovers trope, but it’s Ans and Theo! And for anyone who’s read Commander in Briefs, these two names mean that the story will be spectacular. It was so much fun reading about their beginnings, witnessing their growth and the development of their relationship. Kristy has an impeccable writing style and if anyone can make me fall in love with this trope it’s her.
To say that I loved Pitcher would be an understatement. Definitely a 5 star read!
Pitcher gives us some back story into Theo and Anniston’s story. This book was recommended to my by a fellow book lover, so I was able to read it prior to Commander.
Theo is in love with his best friend Anniston. It’s not hard to see why. She’s one bada$$ chick. What Guy isn’t going to fall over feels for a girl who is competitive in everything she does. Who loves baseball as much as he does. Who can school him in the art of throwing a free throw. I might love her a little myself.
Anniston is in love with her best friend Theo. Weird, huh? Yeah I thought so too . Here’s where it gets a little tricky. Theo doesn’t maybe have as many redeeming qualities as Anniston, but he always puts her first. He doesn’t want to ruin their friendship, which is something I can respect.
These two have the weirdest, most eccentric relationship I have encountered in quite a while. It’s hilarious, petty, always competitive, sometimes brings out the best or worst in them, but it’s always real. I can’t wait to see what Commander has in store for these two!!!!
No Takebacks!!!
My favorite BOOK BOYFRIEND is back!
This is the story of how Anniston and Theo began. An EPIC friends-to-lovers romance! A love that started at fourteen and just continued to grow. Friendship that meant more than anyone else. Get ready for All The feels!!
Theo was the same at fourteen as he was as a grown man, a total smart ass. The day Anniston met Theo they bonded over their love of sports and an instant friendship began. Anniston was his anchor. Theo was her family. Their mutual respect and love is the stuff of dirty fairytales!
I cannot say enough about this relationship. It’s beautiful. It’s complicated. It’s loving and jealous. It’s supportive and unconditional! It’s every-freaking-thing we dream about! I adore these characters and I can never get enough of them. I loved learning about their beginning. It just made me love them more.
The author created more than just wonderful characters, she created a family. She gave us a forever friendship and an unconditional love that we will measure all other love stories against. If you loved this introduction to Theo and Ans, you need to read the rest of this series. It’s an all time favorite!
So can you ever have too much of one character I ask myself, really I have to wonder about my mind sometimes because is that really a serious question. Too much Theo, that would be a hell to the no. Pitcher is the prequel to Commander in Briefs and to those of us who have read that book this gave us the back story, the one that we all had been imagining in our own heads. Theo and Anniston are characters that are larger than life and this book shows just how much charisma and chemistry that these two emit. This prequel will make you laugh and shake your head at how ridiculous these two are at times. However you will at times want to crawl inside the pages and move amongst the words and maybe grab a baseball bat and hit these two upside the head. Sorry, violence is not the answer (rolls eyes) maybe a harsh word with the pair of them, oh who am I kidding baseball bat was the answer. Pitcher is a story that gave me the answers I craved, made me smile, laugh, tear up and finally understand the why and the how. If you were ever going to fall in love with two fictional (sorry yes I know they are real but to all the non-believers) characters then Theo and Anniston would be it. A fantastic lead in to this series that will satisfy the CIB hardcore fans and have newbies hooked for life.
Loved this book! It was hilarious
All. The. Fucking. Feels.
Anniston and Theo are one of my favorite couples of all time for a reason. Theo is a hot, hilarious, alphahole with a hidden heart of gold, and Anniston is one of the sassiest, strongest, and most loving heroines I’ve ever read. Their love story is bumpy, backwards, and breathtakingly beautiful. I’ve experienced every emotion possible as a result of these two, and they will always have a huge piece of my heart.
I was first introduced to these characters in Commander, and I fell in love with them immediately. In that book, we watched them go from best friends with benefits to the couple they were always meant to be. Pitcher opens with a badass young Ans getting suspended for punching a bully in the nose and subsequently meeting and critiquing a cocky, shirtless Theo’s basketball skills. It’s honestly one of my favorite scenes of the series. From there, we observe a myriad of moments we didn’t get to witness in any of the previously published novels. These scenes fill in the blanks of their story in a way I never knew I wanted.
Despite Theo and Annsiton being my favorite characters in the Commander in Briefs series, I will be honest and say that I was more excited for Tim’s book than I was this novella. I already know how Theo and Ans end up, and I wanted something new. Plus, we all know they would be present in his book, too. Kristy Marie never leaves any of her characters out of her books (with the exception of this one of course), so I wouldn’t miss them either way.
Well. I am a complete dumbass. LOL The origin of this couple is EVERYTHING! I smiled so fucking hard my face hurt. I cried. I laughed, and I fell in love with them both all over again. I didn’t think it was possible for me to adore them more than I already did, but I was so wrong.
Pitcher is as close to perfection as I can imagine it being. It’s cute, funny, heartwarming, emotional, angsty, and just downright fucking amazing. It’s on the shorter side, but it’s the perfect size for what it sets out to accomplish.
If you’ve never read anything from this author, go one-click this one now! I recommend it to everyone. If you’re a romance fan, put it on your tbr or better yet, read it today. Have Commander on standby, because trust me, when you’re finished with Pitcher, you’re going to want to dive into that one asap.
If you’ve read book 1 and think you don’t need this one, you’re mistaken. I would go as far as to say this is a must read. This series wouldn’t be here without Ans and Theo, and I promise you, it will give you a greater appreciation for them and complete their story in a way you never realized you needed. Bottom line, read it. You’ll love it. If you enjoy phenomenal writing, alphaholes, fierce females, and possess a sense of humor in any capacity, you couldn’t ask for more.
