“What a sweet, hilarious sports romance! Theo and Ans made me fall in love with their relationship. He was cocky, self assured and gorgeous, and she was feisty, sassy and everything I love in a heroine. This was my first Kristy Marie book but it won’t be my last. What a fresh book this was! “- LJ Shen, USA Today Bestselling AuthorKristy Marie brings you a hilarious novella about the problem with … Author
Kristy Marie brings you a hilarious novella about the problem with loving your best friend.
No one needs that many hookups!
Not even soon to be major league pitcher, Theo Von Bremen.
So, I help him by routinely thinning out his contact list—because I’m the best roommate ever. And he’s optimal baby daddy material.
For me—not Amanda 1, 2, or 3.
But since the man can’t take a hint; I’ll continue to spray his sheets with my perfume and accidentally leave my panties in his laundry.
That has to be enough to break a man eventually. Right?

It’s not news to anyone that knows me or follows my Instagram page, that I absolutely love Kristy Marie’s books. I was lucky enough to be one of the first people to ever read her debut novel “Commander in Briefs” as an ARC reader/reviewer, and I haven’t look back since: she hooked me.
Her writing style is engaging, her stories are unique and original and her characters are awesome and unforgettable. They stay with you.
That’s why when she let me know she was writing a prequel to CIB, with Theo and Anniston backstory, I couldn’t be happier or more excited, as it with all of her books. I just didn’t know this was the one to struck me the hardest, so far.
Like I said in some of my previous Instagram posts and comments, this was the story I didn’t know I needed and now I just wouldn’t know what to do without it.
It’s like coming home and I feel complete, like part of me was missing and I didn’t even realize it.
Aside from two other books – one of them being “Gorgeous”, also by Kristy Marie – I honestly never felt so helplessly moved by a book before; and this wasn’t just about me crying me eyes out. It was something else. My breath faltered and my heart physical hurt – I’m actually serious here. I didn’t know if it was sadness, or happiness or love, I just know that from now on, my love and appreciation for Theo is bigger than ever before.
Ans and Theo are forever going to be one of my favorite couples: they’re never leaving the back of my mind, ever.
Their connection is so strong, their relationship is so different and deep and beautiful, argh…
At this point I’m actually running out of words and ways to explain what these characters, their story and this particular book mean to me. I felt it so deep. It was so cool to meet an already feisty, young Anniston and an equally rambunctious and incorrigible Theo: their bond is formed immediately. And it was even more fascinating being there along for their journey together.
I’m beyond ecstatic and truly fulfilled now that we know how this unique couple came to be, and I’d be more than happy to read more of their adventures as a married couple *wink, wink* – as if this need to be said. Give me all of it!
Thank you again Kristy, for this glimpse into their past.
And now we wait for the next book of this series that as me constantly checking Kristy Marie’s Instagram page for more news.
My Tim is coming. So, see you soon, I guess.
And yes, he’s mine: go check my Gorgeous review, ‘cause I’m pretty sure a called dibs back then. 😀
I’m a good girl though, we can share.
*Each book can be read as a standalone*
*I received an ARC and I´m voluntarily leaving my honest review.*
If you are looking for a prequel that entirely draws you and a prepares you for the greatest series of all time, Pitcher is the book for you.
Theo is the dreamboat pitcher. All Star. Playboy. Dirty mouth. Possessive anti-hero you need. But alas, the man has a heart that stores room for one person, and one person only… Anniston a.k.a. Ans. Que the swoon over his instincts to protect and encourage her to be herself.
Anniston is the ultimate tomboy. Competitive. Strong. Bada** heroine. She can hang with the best of them with her quick wit and ability to know her friend better than he knows himself.
Theo and Anniston are the pure definition of sexual tension. This storyline covers everything from how they met to the moment their full-length story starts. Their banter will leave you laughing for hours, smiling while you read. Their petty games lead into some serious sexual tension that will leaving you aching all over for more.
But nothing… and I mean nothing… will prepare you for the swoon you feel over their protectiveness, jealousy, and “blocking” over one another. And of course, their constant ability to be there for one another when it means the most.
They love each other in that special way that makes sense to no one and everyone at the same time.
Their messed up fairy tale is one you don’t want to miss. One-click this one! Now!
And as always from my reviews, my top 3 quotes from the book:
“All I can do is think about leaving her behind. For someone else to love her. To steal her away.”
“This friendship is either going to be a huge disaster or one of the best mistakes I’ve ever made.”
“You know, … I waited all night to dance with you… I looked everywhere for you… and there you were, playing in the damn dirt”.
This was my first book by Kristy Marie and it certainly will not be my last. As a prequel to Commander in Briefs the reader gets the backstory of the friendship of Aniston and Theo. The relationship has layers and layers of unrequited love as well as displaying the strength and connection the two continue to have. This friends to lovers romance is filled with beautifully written characters and a storyline that you will not be able to put down. I cannot wait to dive into the next book!!
Oh WOW..I really did Love this story,Anniston and Theo are Amazing and I fell in Love with them and adored their relationship.
Simply devouring this book hungrily and thoroughly enjoying every bit of it.
It gave me all the emotions, laughter that warmed my heart and tears that made my heart ache for these two friends to lovers.
Kristy has written a fantastic book which answers so many questions, she has sprinkled her Magic once again this is a MUST read, which I highly recommend.
Incredible! I have fallen more in love with Theo and Anniston after reading Pitcher!
For anyone that has read and loved Commander in Briefs, this novella is exactly what you need. Even knowing how this ends, Pitcher still had me holding my breath and pulling my hair.
If you have never read Commander in Briefs, START HERE! It’s the perfect place to start.
I loved being able to peek into Theo Von Bremen and seeing more of what goes on in that head of his.
My heart breaks for these two. Like they tell you, their story sucks.
Kristy Marie has this talent of pulling you in and not letting you go until the story is over. Her storytelling is unique. She not only writes where you can visualize the story playing out in your head, she writes her stories so that you feel as though you ARE part of the story.
Fantastic!
5 Stars!
Wow! Just wow!
First, I have to tell you this is the prequel to already published Commander In Briefs. Pitcher is not recommended to be read as a standalone. You can read it as a standalone if you want to, but you just can’t appreciate its greatness without reading Commander In Briefs as well. That said, I hope you will give this author a chance because she is an amazing writer. Literally, I am always impatiently waiting for her next release. I immensely enjoyed reading all her books.
Theo and Anniston…..
Ok, so to say these two have a complicated relationship is the understatement of the year! My heart kept breaking for Anniston. She needed Theo in her life and she would take him anyway she could. And while Theo needed Anniston as well, he wasn’t ready for the next step. I will say that Theo was selfish when it came to Anniston. He wouldn’t let himself have her, so no-one else would either. Their relationship was very intense. But I already knew that after reading CIB. In fact, Theo is probably the most intense, possessive, and impatient hero I have ever read.
I’m not going into details because I don’t really need to. This book is the introduction to how Theo and Anniston came to be best friends, then more. Trust me when I say, for a short book, all the “feels” are there. I’m going to admit, that while reading this book, I bit off all my finger nails! I even have bandaids on a couple of fingers. Thanks for that, Kristy, lol. <3 This book is a must read for all you Theo and Anniston fans. I'd also like to mention that after finishing Pitcher, I started to re-read CIB. I need more Theo!
Amazing Kristy!!
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
So let me tell you, this is a prequel that follows the story of Theo and Anniston, two best friends since kids, which relationship develops forward on Commander, a book that has already been published.
I love Theo’s character he’s such a douche but like in a good way?! So cocky and popular and with that attitude of don’t you dare get in my way.
Anniston, ugh, she’s so sassy and determinate. Not a single thing stays in her way of following her dreams..except the love for Theo.
Their story is so beautiful, It made me feel things I haven’t felt a long time with a book.
The thoughts Theo had about her and the internal conversations with himself were hilarious, he’s definitely one of my favs alpha male heroes.
The love they have for each other is so special and they are both so stubborn and so in denial because of being scared of losing their friendship, but guess what? They are PERFECT for each other. They belong together!!
If you’ve read Commander you definitely should read this one, and, If you haven’t, read this one first
PS: I voluntarily received an ARC from the author
Excellent read – Anniston and Theo
This story was such fun to read. Anniston and Theo met at 14 become best friends and even live together. Now their relationship is at that stage when your bff means so much more than a bff, but you are so afraid to take it further.
Theo is an alpha male but he has such a sweet, caring side reserved for Anniston.
Pitcher is a must-read, as it shows how far back their relationship goes.
When I heard of this prequel coming I was so excited because these two make me feel all the feelings. The love, the lust, the angry, the gut-wrenching and more.
I was excited about knowing more about the begging of their relationship, how the met each other, how they knew all about the other one, how they felt in love.
And Kristy never disappoint. She delivers all kind of tidbits and scenes that make me felt in love even more with Ans and Theo.
I know that they madly love each other and knowing how that love grew through the time was wonderful.
Of course, Theo was a handful at times. But we all love him that way.
And Anniston is unique. When I grow up I want to be like her.
