You will cheer for them to beat their fears.
I received an arc and the opinions and views are my own. I really enjoyed Ardan and Deidre’s story. Both are afraid to love because they fear loss. A compelling story with lots of love, laughter and sadness. This story made me feel good, something that is needed right now. I would recommend this book to all and cannot wait for the next book.

Pioneer Desire (The O’Rourke Family Montana Saga Book 2) by Ramona Flightner is a historical romance set in Fort Benton, Montana Territory, in 1865. I love the O’Rourke family, who are a large and endearing family. I found myself wanting to know more details about each family member.
Ardan O’Rourke, the oldest son, helped raise his other siblings. He works in the O’Rourke family business. Deirdre Finnegan, who is an excellent cook, recently arrived at Fort Benton. They are attracted to each other.
Both Ardan and Deirdre have suffered losses in their lives. Will they both be able to overcome these losses and become a couple?
Pioneer Desire is the second book in this new series. Ramona Flightner offers romance, mystery, intrigue, and twists and turns in this book. I can hardly wait for the next book to come out. I received this as an ARC read being a member of the author’s team. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Ramona Flightner has hit another bull’s eye with this book. It’s the third book in the series (counting the prequel). The O’Rourkes are an Irish family of complex personalities making their way in the Montana Territory. This story centers around the oldest sibling, Ardan, who has never desired marriage. That all starts to change when Deidre Finnegan comes to town. The storyline deals with learning to overcome tragedies of the past, allowing oneself to heal, and opening up a closed heart. The author aptly portrays the fear of future pain that prevents future happiness. Frustrating at times, that path takes a few rocky turns before going forward.
I love this series. If you enjoy stories of families settling the western frontier in the 1800s, I believe you’ll like it too.
I loved this book. Both main characters have been hurt in the past and both must overtime that hurt to find happiness. The O’Rourke family is a close family that fully embraces new members. They welcome them faults and all. Ardan is strong, yet still in pain over his mother’s “abandonment.” Deirdre is brave, coming across the country to marry a man she’s never met, yet odds still mourning her husband and daughter. Both must ultimately overcome their pain and fear to have their happily ever after.
Ramona is a brilliant author who writes stories that are emotional, heartwarming, heartbreaking, and honest. Her characters are easy to connect with and grab the reader’s hearts, making them yearn for a happy ending. The characters are also realistic to the point where the reader feels as if they’ve known them for years. The stories are also not descriptive when it comes to intimate scenes.
I highly recommend this book, as I have all of Ramona Flightner’s books. It will grab your attention and hold it all the way through to the end. It also leaves you waiting with an urgency for the next book in the series to be released.
I received an ARC of this book and am volunteering an honest review.
Sparks fly when they first meet, of antagonism rather than attraction, at least on Deirdre’s part. Ardan O’Rourke finds himself braving the reprehensible eating establishment owned by Buford Hunt in order to introduce himself to her, but is soundly rebuffed by the beautiful Mrs Finnegan. Deirdre quickly has to reverse her opinion of the O’Rourkes when she finds that they are the only ones in town willing to side with her and protect her. Ardan, in particular, is unable to stay away from her and when she is confronted with past events, it is Ardan that picks up the pieces. The novel may well revolve around the O’Rourke family but it also brings into focus the difficulties and hardships faced by the early pioneers. Whilst they are not perfect by any means, the O’Rourke’s have discovered that when they stand together they can face any difficulty and the love conquers all. This book is well written and engaged my emotions, making me feel their love, joy, and pain. Ardan is a delightful hero and there is something about Deirdre that most women will identify with. The novel is part of a series and although past events are mentioned, they are summarised in a way that keeps the book interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel as it is well written and has just enough suspense to keep me engrossed. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
