It started of good and I was looking forward to a great read only to get disappointed and bored fairly quickly by the exaggerated development of the story.
I gave it one star because even a bad book is an accomplishment for any writer. The conversations with her dog and comatose husband were ridiculous. Every time the author introduced a bit of friction or danger, it was quickly swept under the rug and either resolved or never brought up again. No threatened woman in her right mind would go out for long, deserted walks along the beach. The interaction with the police was downright sophomoric. Her parents were joined at the hip every time they came up. And she had Superwoman as her neighbor – gun wielding, black belt divorced super mom.
Blech!!!! I did not enjoy this book.
i kept thinking this book would get better, unfortunately it did not. The writer repeated herself continuously. Thought not only was it poorly written but could not imagine a person reacting to situations as the main character in this book did.
Poorly written, one dimensional characters, lacks continuity. The writer can’t decide if this is suspense, supernatural or comedy. Surely the dumbest character in literature who goes out alone and down alleys even though a stalker is threatening hers and her unborn life, and she not only goes out alone but she goes jogging while pregnant and supposed to be on bed rest. Then there’s her conversations with her dog and comatose husband which the other characters readily accept as an everyday occurrence. I’m glad I got this free and only wasted this time and not my money.
badly written and disappointing-don’t waste your time reading till the end!
The story started out well then quickly went downhill within the first few chapters. With plotlines that stretched credibility, unbelievable character action, an overabundance of page filler together drug this book down to one star.
This book was a little corny with all the “communicating” with the main character’s dog and her husband while he was in a coma. The author overdid it with all the pink slips and there was a lot of repetition. Seems like it could have been a short story and was stretched rather thin to be a full length novel. I was generous in giving it 3 stars. It was an easy read in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep.
Poorly written, the dialog was not realistic and the ESP between her and her dog and comatose husband was just stupid. This is one of the worst books I have ever read.
I found this book to be rather boring. The “action” mostly consisted of the main character’s thoughts. It was definitely a different kind of “mystery” with very little in the way of investigation or even suspense. When the book’s climax occurred, it seemed abrupt, like a messy detail to be quickly dispensed so we could get back to the main character’s thought life. It will probably appeal to others but I didn’t care for it.
Slow but what to find out who the stalker is. Too many unnecessary details
It’s sad to think that one person’s obsession leads to terrorizing an innocent person. Gives a whole new meaning to the term pink slip.
It wasn’t for me.
Eh. Get tired of hearing her talk to her dog. It’s weird and not developed well enough to be believable. I skipped a lot of the endless description that added NOTHING to the story (page filler, ugh). But if you need an easy, mindless read, go ahead.
this book wasn’t that great. It seemed rather amateurish at best and I was glad to finish it and get it off the kinle
**I did not actually finish this book. I just could not get into it.
I thought it was great, loved it.
The actual culprit took me by surprise. I suspected two of the other characters. The actual culprit came way out of left field.
The main character doesn’t react in a believable way. I had a hard time getting into this book because of it.
Pink Slips was a interesting read, lots of action, and what a page turner. I would tell everyone to read
Okay, but not great. Some good plot elements at first, but the ending was predictable. The writing was often strained and stilted. And often this novel read as if the author had researched cooking language and threw that in to give the book flavor (intended pun), but the cooking jargon didn’t sound natural. I will give the author high marks, however, for the spot on portrayal of the dynamic of an abusive relationship, showing how a manipulative abuser can isolate and control and demean the victim until the victim sees no way out. The plot does present some interesting moral dilemmas for the main character.
