An inept witch. A talking pink iguana. A town trying to solve a lawman’s murder.Hi, I’m Glinda Goodall—the Good Witch of the South—and I want to welcome you to Witch’s Cove, Florida, a delightful beach town where witches and humans reside in peace and harmony. Sounds perfect, right? Yeah, that’s what it says on the billboard, but here’s the real scoop. My aunt, who runs the Tiki Hut Grill where I … where I work, sees ghosts—or rather sees one of them—namely her dead husband. My mom, a funeral director, is addicted to all things that have to do with The Wizard of Oz. She even has a terrier named Toto. And then there’s my familiar, Iggy, who is a very disgruntled pink iguana who fancies himself a detective. As for me, I’m a problem solver. My flaws are that I’m way too nosy for my own good, and I rarely say the right thing at the right time. This week’s exciting news? Our not-so-beloved law enforcement officer was murdered, and my best friend’s brother was accused of the crime. I have to help find the real killer, right? How could I not?Stop in to Witch’s Cove and grab a meal at the Tiki Hut Grill. You just might see me and my familiar in action.

I was able to dive right into this book and fell in love with it right away. A bit of magic, some ghostly contact, a witchy lie detector, all makes for great fun! And a pink iguana named Iggy, with the snarkiest attitude ever, just adds to the story. The murder mystery was great, plus we got to see an old crime solved and an injustice corrected. Getting ready to start the second book now!

Our heroine is not the sharpest tack in the bunch, but she likes to help, even when she probably shouldn’t. Hey, everyone else in her family is a bit loony, so she has an excuse.
This is a witchy cozy mystery set in sunny Florida, so when our heroine talks about being a Witch of the South, she means it. This one is a keeper. The story is well written, easy to read and just plain nutty fun. The cast of characters is diverse, well developed and just hilarious. I could not keep a straight face while reading this one, so be careful of spontaneous giggling. Overall, a very engaging and fun read and I look forward to more in this series.
Highly recommended.

As always I enjoyed this author. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline has mystery and other twists and turns with PNR characters. I continue to be a great fan of her books always full of added twists and turns to keep me coming back for more.

Let me just say that Vella Day has hit out of the park. The characters are so quirky, witty and just plain awesome. The storyline is just as well written, quirky, suspenseful, and totally original. I had a book hangover because you just can put it down.

Glinda Goodall, with her pink iguana familiar, lives in Witch’s Cove, Florida, a beautiful beach town where witches live peacefully among humans. Her aunt runs the Tiki Hut Grill where she works. Her aunt sees the ghost of her dead husband. Her mom is fanatical about the Wizard of Oz and happens to be a funeral director. Glinda only wears pink and has a ver curious nature. So, when her best friend’s brother is accused of killing a deputy, she starts investigating.
This is a fun paranormal cozy mystery that is full of interesting and kooky characters. The characters were well crafted and suit the small town atmosphere really well. The narrative was great as it helped to define the characters personalities, motivations and actions. The scenery was well described. The storyline flowed smoothly and was filled with interesting clues, dead ends, surprising twists, unexpected turns, danger and suspense. This story contains all the elements that make a great cozy mystery, (unique characters, great setting, a complex murder to solved) and the authors puts it all together into a well written story.

Awesomely fun, action packed, exciting adventure filled with interesting and engaging charters, witty banter, heart racing twists and emotionally thrilling turns. Was a great read from beginning to end, so hard to put down. Fun and entertaining!
PINK IS THE NEW BLACK is the first book in the Witch’s Cove Mystery series. This is not a romance (yet). No bad language, no sex, no violence.
This is a really cute story with colorful characters and entertaining dialogue.
I love THE WIZARD OF OZ, but Glinda’s mother is obsessed. So much so, that Glinda’s name is what it is, and the mother’s Cairn Terrier is Toto. That is just the beginning of what is so colorful about the characters.
This was a fun cozy mystery that included lots of paranormal antics and the reliance on good friends. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and hope to read more of the series.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

A man highly disliked by the community, but nearly untouchable, as he is not only Deputy in town, but also the Sheriff’s son.
Just after Jackson returns to his hometown, the Deputy is killed shortly after an altercation with Jackson. Without any proof, Jackson becomes one of the main suspects and his brother’s best friend Glenda, a witch, makes it her business to proof that he is innocent.
A funny cozy with lots of unusual characters, including a pink iguana male, Glenda’s familiar.

This was an interesting story. I just loved Glinda. I loved her curious mind and how she had to feel she wanted to get to the bottom of things. She truly had a good heart.
I had to laugh at Iggy. He was funny and I could see how he could get on her nerves some times. He differently had a personality to match Glinda’s.
This book is more of a murder mystery book. It is a sweet storyline that you will love. It is a nice escape book and glad I got a chance to read the book
This first book in the new paranormal cozy mystery series has such a crazy line-up of characters, you will love it!
Glinda Goodall works as a waitress for her Aunt Fern, who runs the Tiki Hut Grill in Witches Cove, Florida. Glinda’s familiar, since Glinda is a witch, is a pink iguana named Iggy. Her aunt frequently sees and talks with her dead husband. Her mom, a funeral director, is crazy about all things having to do with The Wizard of Oz, and has named her dog Toto! Glinda is a problem solver, which translates to “very nosy”, and Iggy thinks of himself as a detective. So we have a great assortment of characters ready to jump right into the investigation when Sheriff Duncan’s son, Deputy Cliff Duncan, is murdered and the wrong person is accused! Between her magic and her keen (well, not so much) detective talent, can Glinda and Iggy track down the real murderer and help free an innocent man?
This was a cute cozy mystery with likable characters and a story line that flows well to keep the reader entertained as you try to figure out the mystery. Grab your copy and enjoy!
Glinda is not only in costume as Glinda the Good Witch at her Aunt’s restaurant, she has a talent for determining cause of death.
A costume themed restaurant , a family funeral home with ghost talking mom the mortician, a busy gossip network and a family of witches – great for tangled mysteries with a bit of the paranormal.
I just signed up to hear more about the next books in the wild and wacky cozy series- more fun ahead!

I really enjoyed this. Vella Day has done a phenomenal job with new series. Fast paced and packed full of action and adventure, this is definite must read for all.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. As I’ve said before, I always give honest reviews whether people appreciate them or not.
This story begins with Glinda waiting tables at the Tiki Hut Grill which her Aunt Fern owns. Oh, wait a second, this is set in the small town of Witch’s Cove, Florida. Half the town believes in witches and the other half are just regular humans. Glinda and her family are on the Witch – paranormal side. Aunt Fern spends much time talking to her deceased husband, her parents run the funeral home (and her mom talks to dead people) and Glinda? She has a magical necklace of sorts that she can use on dead bodies to detect how they really died. As in all small towns, everyone knows everyone else, there aren’t many secrets and once you make a mistake (or are accused thereof) no one forgets it.
Glinda has a talking pink iguana named Iggy. He’s her familiar, and the results of a spell gone wonky. One of her BFF’s is divorcée Penny who waits tables with her at the Tiki Hut. Her other BFF is Drake Harrison whose older brother is Jaxson who had been accused of robbing a store in town and spent three years in prison for it. The other two characters we are introduced to are Sheriff Duncan (Glinda calls him Duncan Donut) and his son, Deputy Cliff Duncan. Yep, the usual small town cops that people hate or like. In the beginning of the second chapter Deputy Cliff is found dead, so of course the town thinks that Jaxson is the killer. Glinda decides that she must prove Jaxson’s innocence, not just of the murder but of the store robbery.
This is a cute story! The town and its people are quite colorful and entertaining. You know, when I was a kid, I used to read lots of Agatha Christie mystery paperbacks. I can honestly say that I didn’t, then and now, have the patience to find out whodunnit and I would flip back to the last chapter to find out. I can’t really do that on a Kindle, so if I’m reading a mystery I spend almost the entire book saying ‘Ha! They did it’! I’m never correct of course, so I thought almost every character had killed the Deputy…while singing Bob Marley’s song ‘I Shot The Sheriff’ not remembering all the words and just repeating “I shot the sheriff, but I didn’t shoot no deputy”. Okay, besides all that, the biggest issue I had with the story was the first line of the blurb. It describes Glinda as an inept Witch. I didn’t see that at all. I kept waiting for some major moment of ineptness and couldn’t find it. Ms. Day has four books in this series, the second one A Pink Potion Gone Wrong is releasing the same day as this book so maybe she’s show us the Inept Witch. I’ll just have to find out on release day!
