This was a fun clean read, I enjoyed it!
Charlotte wakes to a leaky roof. While investigating the leak in the attic she discovers a box of new articles and a birth certificate. In this book she goes to Juniper on the east coast! While there she discovers she has more family than she thought. While searching for her missing aunt she works a baby swap case. It was different seeing her work alone without Darla,Marishka,Seamus or Declan! I did like the new characters but not as much as the regular characters. The story lines were different but great! I especially liked seeing Declan in a funnier role. I really loved this book and I love this series and author!
I liked this story and the characters.
This is very different from the rest of the pineapple port mysteries but it is still a good read. There are three case or situations running along in the book, keeping you wondering what is going on and how they are related. Mariska, Darla and even Shamus are sadly missing from this book (if you are a fan of Amy’s work then you know who I mean) so it doesn’t have its usual laugh out loud moments but there was glimpses, good job for Declan and Bob. The main reason for this is because Charlotte is going it alone and is investigating a personal case.. I think this is the start of a new direction for the books to take and think we will be seeing the new characters again in the next book, if only to answer some questions. I can’t wait for the next book.
Charlotte is woken up in the middle of the night by drops of rain landing on her head. On further investigation she discovers a well hidden box that opens up lots of secrets and questions. When her adoptive mother can’t answer them she sets out for a mystery hotel pictured in one of the news clippings. Things only get weirder as nobody knows her but Charlotte doesn’t believe the hotel manager who keeps dodging her questions. The only clue Charlotte has is a bunch of blank post cards, with just the hotels addresses on. Could they really be from her missing aunt and if so what do they mean? Then a baby gets stolen and Charlotte has to extend her stay. She can’t go home until she gets to the bottom of the two mysteries.
When Charlotte finds a shoebox with some old papers in it, it implies that she has a long lost relative, an aunt she never knew about. She goes to the last place that is given in the box and finds out that there are people there that are not all that cooperative with the information. There is something else that is going on in the town she is in, a child’s kidnapping which also is messing with her mind. Can she find the aunt? What about the kidnapping case that keeps coming into her head? You will need to read the book to see how it all turns out. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book from the publisher.
Charlotte puts her investigative skills to the test and helps solve a baby swap. Along the way she uncovers a family mystery and finds relatives she didn’t know she had. Meanwhile back at Pineapple Ports things get explosive.
