When real estate tycoon Bucky Bloom is found stuck to the end of a sailboat mast, a land war erupts in Pineapple Port! Charlotte is commissioned to solve Bucky’s murder, but soon finds herself embroiled in a competition masterminded by Declan’s crazy ex, the ever-nefarious Stephanie.
When Bucky, the local lothario is found dead impales on a ships mast it sparks a land war for Cow Town, a property he owned and refused to sale. When Penny, the owner of Pineapple Port senior community finds out she hires Charlotte to help sway the widow to see her that land over her twin sister, Tabby who owns the competing property, Silver Lake. Unbeknownst to them the widow is away of her husbands affairs including the fact that they both slept with him. In comes Stephanie whose mother wants her to get that property too. So she convinces the widow Cora to hold a contest and whoever wins the most will get the property. This is just the start of the hijinks that starts the fun! Meanwhile, Seamus’ archer rival from Miami is lured to town by working for Tabby. This is the funniest book in the series! It added new characters who are just as nutty as the rest of the residents! I loved this book , this series and this author! If you are looking for a quick, easy, funny action packed book or series then this is for you!
This is book #4 of the Pineapple Port series. Our girl Charlotte gets involved in another case, hoping this one will give her enough hours to get her private eye license. Cora’s husband Bucky owns the lot called Cow Town. Penny and her twin sister have been trying to buy it for years. It’s right in between Pineapple Port and the neighboring competing retirement community. The Bucky dies rather spectacularly, and Penny and her sister both descend on the widow to bid on Cow Town. Charlotte gets retained by Penny to help her get the land. You can imagine how shocked she is when the widow decrees that the contestants must compete to decide who will get the land, and that the contests are mediated by Stephanie. The book has lots of nutty stuff in it to make you smile.
Entertaining cozy mystery but disappointing ending. I love Charlotte!
I enjoyed this fourth book as much as the first three, and I’m looking forward to reading the next two!
4 stars
I purchased Pineapple Land Wars (Pineapple Port Mystery #4) by Amy Vansant and this review was given freely. Read March 2017.
Pineapple Land Wars balances a Cozy Mystery with the continuing sweet romance of Charlotte and Declan with the continuing interference of Stephanie as she continues to protect her mother. Amy Vasant focuses heavily on Charlotte, Seamus, Declan , Stephanie, and a returning person from Seamus’ past, Eddie. The Murder mystery is compelling and balanced well by the drama and comic relief of Penny competing with her twin. The novel brings a sense of closure to the series as Charlotte completes her training hours and is 1 step closer to obtaining her PI license.
Part of a great series.
Charlotte and the crazy gang of Pineapple Port are back! Charlotte and Declan are still trying to have a love-life whilst Seamus plays gooseberry. There is; a hind-leg walking, scary ass cat, an adulterous hubby killed and more of Stephanie Moriarty, the super crazy, psychotic ex of Declan!
Fab fun
“Pineapple Land Wars” earns 5/5 Murderous Masts, Matey!
Older man, younger mistress, older man dead, scorned widow… Ok, I’ve seen enough crime dramas to know it’s often the proverbial “the wife did it” solution, but with Amy’s signature twists and turns this amateur sleuth won’t be fooled! Bucky fell (or was he pushed) from the rooftop deck of his condo and “Like a cocktail olive” right onto the mast of his sailboat. Penny, owner of the Pineapple Port facility, is oddly thrilled since now a large tract of land could be easier to buy with its owner dead. But that property is also in the sights of Tabby, another developer, and Charlotte’s being hired by Penny to help facilitate her efforts to sabotage the opponents bid for the property. But, what else will she find? Bucky’s extra-curricular friendships? Penny’s 1969?Tabby’s 1988? Amy also sprinkles in characters rich with the ‘quirky,’ like Blade with his eye patch, two-legged cat, and captivating tales ending in a sale or two at Declan’s pawn shop. The absorbing story, engaging characters, and “WOW, I didn’t see that coming!” ending make Amy Vansant a favorite…
The clash of the Titans as the owner/ founder of Pineapple Port faces her twin in a competition for land adjacent to Pineapple Port. Stephanie faces off with her mom, and works both with and against Charlotte.
Details about hidden flings, filleted lotharios, and a body dump hidden in the land Charlotte works to help win for Pineapple Port. Stephanie seems to manipulate things so she gets what she wants, including the land – excepting a pile of cow patties well pitched by the sometimes less sweet Charlotte. The pifalls of driving a convertible.
Do darker times for Charlotee lie ahead?
Should she hang on to her friends and let go out Declan?
Will it be a life or death scenario in the much awaited fifth Pineapple Port book?
Waiting with breath held!
