I really enjoyed reading this Amish fiction story from cover to cover from this new to me author.
Emma, her sister Sadie and brother Zeke are struggling financially to keep their farm after the death of their father and with their mother being gone years prior. Emma’s old time friend Levi steps in to court Emma so she can continue to raise her siblings on their family farm without the interference of her busybody aunt.
I liked reading about Emma and her interactions with her siblings and with her cousin Amelia. Although she and Levi had a great friendship growing up, they had a falling out and hadn’t been friends for quite a while so I enjoyed reading about their renewed friendship. I enjoyed seeing Zeke blossom with confidence with Levi’s help and guidance. Sadie reminded me so much of my own son with her love of animals, especially her pet chickens.
This story had wonderful characters, interesting and engaging plot from beginning to end, clean romance and drama. I would love to read more about this family in future books.
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
Pine Creek Courtship by Amity Hope is the first book in the Pine Creek Series. I enjoyed reading this sweet Amish novel. It was a nice change of pace from the other books that I have been reading and real life. I thought Pine Creek Courtship was well-written with good characters and steady pacing. I like Emma Ziegler who has been through so much. She is working hard to maintain the family farm while caring for her younger siblings. They also have the maple trees to care for as well (they tap the trees for the sap that they turn into maple syrup). Emma can be stubborn though (she has her pride as well). Levi Bontrager is a good man with a caring heart. He loves Emma and wants to help her and keep her safe. I like all the characters in the story especially Emma’s brother, Ezekiel. Sadie, Emma’s sister, had a fondness for animals. She has unique chickens (it was interesting learning about them) and raises goats (makes yummy cheese). I love the drama in the story. It gives the book additional depth and interest. I like how the romance played out between Levi and Emma. There are good values in the story. I like how the Amish in this story care for their families and help others in the community. I am looking forward to the next book in the Pine Creek series. Pine Creek Courtship is a charming Amish tale with strong characters, a pastoral setting, delightful drama, a caring cousin, a rewarding romance, and sweet siblings.
I loved this book! It is going on my keeper shelf for sure!
Emma has been mother to her younger brother and sister for years following the death of their mother and we meet her as the funeral is ending for her father. The family lives on a maple syrup farm which Emma wants to see rightfully passed down to her younger brother when he is of age. Emma’s meddling aunt has other plans and to thwart those plans, Emma’s childhood friend Levi pretends to be courting her. Little does Emma know that Levi has had feelings for her for years.
I liked Emma right away – she was determined to keep her family together and prove that she could run the farm. She immediately faced a financial challenge which she worked hard to overcome throughout the story. Levi was such a likable hero! I loved watching Levi woo Emma and I respected how he treated her siblings.
There were other special things in this book, too, such as how Emma and her family reached out to Mary, a spinster in their community. I liked Emma’s cousin Amelia and how she came to stay with Emma and her siblings. I thought Sadie’s love of animals added to the story. There was even some suspense thrown in!
If you like Amish fiction, I highly recommend this book.

Emma and Levi’s story in Pine Creek Courtship is an emotional, tug at your heart strings, sweet Amish romance by Amity Hope. In this sweet, heartwarming story Emma Ziegler has just loss her beloved father and wants nothing more than to keep running her family’s maple syrup farm and raise her two younger siblings. Her meddling aunt’s decides Emma needs to marry but her choice for a husband is Emma’s last choice; Pine Creek’s most notorious bachelor, abusive, and nasty. Emma begins to grow desperate, especially since her aunt won’t listen to her and no matter how hard she tries to tell her aunt that the man does not embrace Amish values of faith, way of life, or hard work. Fortunately for Emma, her friend Levi Bontrager overhears and comes to her rescue. Kind and hard working Levi has always wanted to protect his best friend Emma, despite a secret from their younger days caused them to grow apart. Overhearing Emma’s aunt, Levi steps in to claim that Emma cannot wed anyone else as she is currently courting him. Despite feeling guilty for the small lie, Levi hopes that he can not only win back Emma’s trust as well as her heart. As the courting commences, Levi is not only helping Emma but is also mentoring her younger brother who is badly in need of a male influence and guiding hand. After helping to raise her younger siblings and take care of their house and their ill father, Emma needs to learn to be less independent and stubborn, willing to accept help from others; others who love and care for her.
As love grows between Levi and Emma, turning their little lie into a true romance, they must overcome a few obstacles trying their patience and challenging their feelings, but maybe, just maybe, this romance can save both of their futures.
Ms. Hope wrote a wonderfully sweet and moving story that is not to be missed. I struggled to put this story down, staying up late to finish. This story contains strong magnetism, attraction, the magic of love, and charming characters giving Emma and Levi a chance at love, happiness, and a future together. I highly recommend Pine Creek Courtship to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This was a cute love story. I did however find that sometimes the story dragged a little. The book is predictable but the story overall was fun to read. I feel like when you read an Amish story be prepared to have lots of food talked about, this story is very much the same. It will either leave you hungry or your mouth watering. I loved Sadie and Ezekiel; they just seemed to have a goodness about them among all the loss in their lives. I loved Amelia and I hope that one day there is a follow up story for her. She just seems like a kindred spirit. I liked how the author did keep this a clean read and I find it suitable for all. I would say overall this book is worth the read! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A sweet love story. As Emma loses her only parent she needs to be married to care for her two younger siblings. Levi has loved her for years and steps in to fill the void and court her. It is interesting to see the difference in the way they view courtship, marriage and family. Emma is strong willed and wants to be taken as an equal while Levi just wants to protect her. It takes opening up to get them where they want to be which is happily married.
I have found myself reading and enjoying Amish romances lately and have truly been enjoying them. I love the sweet and charming side of them. Recently I read Pine Creek Courtship by Amity and found it was a charming and delightful read. Emma has done everything needed to care for her family and always putting them first. When her father passes away all she wants is to keep her family together on her family’s farm. But her aunt has very different ideas. Enter Emma’s childhood best friend, Levi. To save her, he claims they are courting. Can Emma and Levi find a way to each other and what matters most to them? This story was about love, family, friendship and faith.
Happy reading!
What an incredibly moving story! Pine Creek Courtship is the story of Emma Ziegler, who is responsible for not only caring for her brother and sister, but seeing that the family farm continues to be successful. It doesn’t help that her Aunt Naomi wants to sell the farm, take her siblings for laborers on her farm, and marry Emma off to an abusive drunkard. That is until Levi Bontrager, Emma’s childhood friend, steps in and declares that he and Emma have been courting. As much as Emma hates the lie, she hates the thought of losing her family and her farm even worse so she agrees to court Levi. The two of them grow closer together until things begin to happen around the farm. I love how this story was upbeat even in the face of adversity. The author’s imagery made you feel as if you were right there with the characters, sharing their joys and their sorrows. I would recommend this book and I look forward to more books by this author in the future. I would like to thank Entangled – Amara Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book.
As I read this book I couldn’t help but reflect on all Emma Ziegler has been through in her young life, she has given her all, helped raise her siblings, one from birth, and worked to help the family make a living.
You can almost feel how broken she is when her aunt decides to marry her and let someone buy her Dad’s farm. She has just buried her father, and wants to keep her family together, but to marry someone she really doesn’t care for?
When her neighbor hears this he steps in and declares he is courting, more truth than poetry here, but will Emma accept him.
Will Emma’s pride and determination get in the way of happiness, or will she be able to accept help from others? There are answers here, and we journey along with the author for answers!
