Born into chaos. Baptized in the gutter. I was raised by the violent laws of the streets, spilling blood without the hindrance of useless emotions or connections. Unfeeling. Unloved. Alone. My life was perfect.Until her. While on a manhunt for a mysterious enemy, one hellbent on taking both my business and my life, I find Mickey. She’s covered in mud, rambling nonsense, and clearly out of her … nonsense, and clearly out of her mind.
She’s also a distraction I don’t need.
That is until I discover a connection between the girl and my enemy.
Mickey isn’t a distraction anymore.
She’s the perfect weapon.
One I’ll use to exact my revenge.
The plan is an easy one, but there’s something about Mickey that’s making it more and more difficult.
A familiarity I can’t place. A need I can’t explain.
A want I have to deny.
After all, she’s not mine to keep. She’s a tool. My pawn.
My sacrifice.

Pike by T.M. Frazier is the first book in the brand new Pawn Duet . Set in the world of Logan’s Beach and a spin-off to the King series, not only do we meet some awesome new characters but our absolutely adored favorites are back (Preppy, Nine, King, Rage). Every time I go into a T.M. Frazier book with high expectations and every time she exceeds them. Murder, mayhem, crazy plots, unpredictable twists, quirky characters, she has it all!! Pike & Mickey’s story is also twisted and dark and filled with tragedy but the two of hem together makes sense. From Pike and his pawn shop, to his employee Thorne that takes no crap from him, to the youngster he has taken under his wing as a safe haven when the foster home is too much. Ending on a wicked cliffhanger, this was a wonderfully twisted, sinister, sexy dark tale and I cannot wait to see what happens next. Enjoy!
I am in total and utter shock, I can believe the last sentence of this book, There were so many emotions going on in the entire book from the beginning to the very end. Even though this series is about much to bare with all the drugs and guns, the rest of the story tugs at your heart and you can’t help but fall in love with everyone not just Pike and Mic. I’m so emotionally involved in this book now I can’t wait to see what happens next.
quote: Orgasms and endings are my thing.
quote: He’s so fucking arrogant and so cocky and his lips are heaven and hell.
T.M. Fraizer is a master a putting together books that hold you on the edge of your seat and make you crave the dark, gritty, and depraved romances she pens! Ever since I read King, I have been hooked to the skill and sharpness that go hand in hand with her stories. Pike is the first book in her newest King series dark romance; it’s also the first book of her The Pawn Duet.
quote: Pike and I aren’t at war. We never were. We are what’s left over after the battle’s already been lost on both sides. We’re not soldiers. We’re carnage.
First things first, you can read Pike and the conclusion to The Pawn Duet, Pawn, without previously reading books in the King Series. However, I’m the type of reader that reads series books in order, and I always find that it enriches a story. If you’re like me, the series reading order is:
1. King
2. Tyrant
3. Lawless
4. Soulless
5. Preppy Part 1
6. Preppy Part 2
7. Preppy Part 3
8. Up In Smoke
9. N9ne
10. Pike
11.Pawn (coming soon)
These books are not for the faint, and if you like antihero’s alphas—with a strong asshole/dominant predisposition—then you have found the right books. I personally can’t get enough of them and try at every turn to get my hands them! (If you’re looking for sweet and realistic, first world problem romances, you should definitely keep searching! ) Pike meets all the aforementioned characteristics and I lapped it up like a cat with cream…!! . Pike has a kickass heroine for a counterpart. Mickey is feisty and unapologetically getting her revenge…much like Pike!
quote: When it comes to this girl, my instincts are at war. One tells me to punish. The other to protect. Only one can win.
The story flows perfectly and it takes place at a fast pace and you will be ready to throw your kindle by the time you reach the cliffhanger….and oh yes, prepare your hearts for that from the get-go because it will take you a while to breathe again!!! I’m relatively sure that until Pawn is in my hot little hands that’s more than I’m capable of. Also, like all of its predecessors, Pike is unpredictable. Every time I turned a page, I thought the floor was falling out from beneath me, but I couldn’t have put it down to save my life. I don’t have anything negative to shed light on with Pike, and I am chomping at the bit to get my hands on the story’s conclusion. In the meantime, I highly, highly recommend you get your hands on any one of the books in the series if you haven’t started the King Series. Binge read right up until you’re ready for the release of Pawn!!!
T.M Frazier has a panache of writing a story that looks like a simple troupe on the outside, but as you dig deeper and deeper, you find social issues that you won’t even have thought of being relevant in today’s society.
She takes the obscure and opens the eyes of the reader to drastic effect it has on people.
Pike and Michey’s story is deep, dark and bold. Their character development is fantastic, their banter perfect, their chemistry hot, and meeting my favorite characters like King, Prep and Nine just elevated the book in my eye.
And then there’s the cliffy T.M is famous for. You think the story is going one way, and bamb! you’re dangling off cliff that gives you major story hangover. I’m dying to find out what more is in store for us in book 2 of this duet.
T.M. Frazier brings us another sexy bad ass of Logan Beach. This story will give you all the feels. Pike is a hard core kinda guy but Mic may be his undoing. He has definitely met his match. How will this story end? Guess ,we will have to wait for The Pawn because it’s a grand cliffy. Love the anticipation!!
In this book we have Pike, he owns a pawn shop in town, but that’s just a front of course for hi pot business. Pike has been on his own for awhile. He’s never really trusted that many to depend on, he’s always trusted himself. He works the pot business for Preppy and King. He’s run into a bit of trouble. But he’s trying to get out of it. He runs into Mikeala of course in the process. It’s been a few years since he’s seen her.
Mikaela has a photographic memory. She remembers every detail about e everything. Pike thinks she’s working against him and his crew she is but he isn’t at the same time.
Mikaela has a lot that has happened to her in the past few years. She just trying to keep her head on straight and make it seem like she’s not totally crazy when she’s talking with her family in her head!
Will Mikaela be able to work with Pike to figure out who is setting him up? Will Pike accept help from Mikaela after realizing who she’s been with?
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
4.25 stars— PIKE is the first instalment in TM Fraziers contemporary adult THE PAWN dark, romance duet focusing on Pike and Mickey. THE PAWN DUET is a spin-off from the authors KING series. PIKE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the KING series . Some of the timeline and characters overlap between series.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Mickey and Pike) PIKE focuses on the mystery surrounding a young twenty-three year old woman Mikaela aka Mickey, and her connections to the group trying to destroy Brantley King aka The King of the Causeway. Four years earlier, Pike found a young woman battered and bruised with no apparent memory of what happened or why, but rescuing said woman brought Pike up close and personal with a gang he would face several years later. When Mickey sacrificed herself to save Pike, Pike had no idea if he would ever see Mickey again. Fast forward to present day wherein Pike must face the past, when he discovers the young woman he rescued is part of the same gang threatening to destroy them all. Now a prisoner without bars, Mickey comes full circle when she faces the possibility of losing it all. What ensues is the acrimonious relationship between Pike and Mickey, as Pike, King, Preppy and Nine are targeted for territory and control.
Mickey lost everything four years earlier, and in an effort to protect a man she did not know, Mickey voluntarily walks into the dragons den knowing there would be no turning back but Mickey has plans to destroy the people who currently control her life, plans that may now involve someone she once loved. Pike grew up on the mean streets of Logan Beach, and as such was deeply rooted in the fight for power and control but a rival group is determined to ascend to the top, setting their sights on Kings territory.
PIKE is a story of betrayal and vengeance; of coercion and domination; of secrets, lies, acknowledgement and revenge. The premise is dark and gritty; the characters are familiar, broken, and battered; the romance is virtually non-existent as our couple try to navigate the who, what, how and why. PIKE ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
In the first book of the duet, Frazier brings us back to the gritty world at Logan’s Beach. We are following Pike, a friend of Nine’s who is trying to prove himself to King and the trio that own the beach. Things go from bad to worse quickly for him and he must try to figure out a way to get back.
Mic’s got some things going on. She has a lot of secrets and it’s challenging Pike. And of course he wants to know all the secrets. I really enjoyed the story that Frazier is writing for her because you know she’s got a lot of layers and we get to unravel the web together and no matter what you expect is going to happen, it’s not. Mic’s got her own agenda and she is not going to let anyone stop her.
Pike is a healthy mix of Bear and King. You can tell that he’s trying to be his own kingpin and you can see how much he looks up to those guys. Nine is very much like his brother and gives the comedic relief throughout the book (which is important for certain times of the story).
Once again, TM Frazier gets you attached to certain points and then rips it away from you without a care in the world. It’s obvious that she enjoys torturing us just like Preppy does with his captives (read his book if you don’t believe me). There is a major cliff hanger at the end and it’s going to make you want to pick up the second book right away. So maybe wait until that is out before venturing into this book.
Book 1 in a new duet from T.M. Frazier, and welcome back to Logan Beach!!
This story continues on from King of the Causeway, where we first met Pike, best friend to Nine! Pike is part of the brotherhood of Logan Beach, trying to pave his own way, yet still in with King, Preppy, Bear and the like, in fact King is helping in his little endeavours money wise, giving him the ability to prove his worth. He has his own Pawn shop which makes him quite a bit of money, along with a back door for all his other illegal activities. He ends up running into a girl who gets under his skin like no one else has, who also ends up being part of something dangerous…. someone wants to take him and his friends down, and Pike needs to find out who it is.
Mickey is the mystery girl Pike rescues one night, before losing her in weird circumstances. He never expected to see her again, so when she turns out to be one of the ones trying to take him down, he takes matters into his own hands, by kidnapping her. Mickey is a genius, literally, with a photographic memory, and is mixed up with bad company. She’s keeping secrets, not letting on why she is with them, and is stubborn, not giving in to Pike and his torture methods. But these two have a connection, the air is charged when they are together, not just with hate, but with lust, which is bad for both of them.
A good read, fast paced, it was great to be back in Logan Beach with the crew, I liked getting to know Pike more who seems to be a good and loyal character to his friends. Mickey is a bit of a badass, very unique with her ability and the way she sees the world. But I did have a bit of an issue with the connection, which I didn’t feel as strongly as I would have liked. Hopefully this is resolved in the next book. Of course this one ends in a cliffhanger, and I am excited to see how the next book plays out.
No!!! why? I need more now!
What a fantastic story, I love TM Frazier and her twisted amazing stories but this one is just phenomenal. The way she builds each world and characters is so unique. This story is no exception, Pike and Mickey’s story begins here and wow, there is a depth you need to go under and resurface until the last page, and then you need more. This story is crazy good. I just need the next more than the pause to breathe. Read this now!
The best book by Miss Frazier up to date! what a crazy ride!!! Pike was everything I needed and more! I need book two because I simply need more Pike!!
I purchased this book via Amazon. I’m leaving my review voluntarily.
This story ends on a cliffhanger. It does have characters from other books like Preppy (my favorite), Nine, Rage and King (all of whom have their own stories and it might be helpful, but not necessary to read those first)
Triggers: drugs, murder, torture
Pike and Mickey. Two different people who connect right from their first meeting. They are very secretive about who they are. At their second meeting, things become explosive between them.
The author knows how to give you all the push and pull without wanting you to throw your kindle across the room.
There is enough of the story that I was okay with a cliffhanger, usually I’m not a fan. I already preordered book 2.
Anti-hero Romance | Romantic Suspense
T.M. Frazier writes fantastic heroes! Just like Pike in this one, they are all badass, super protective, alpha males with a lust for blood for those who impinge on their family. I’m always drawn to her books because of the way she writes these heroes and whenever I need a bit of suspense in my books, I turn to her. Ladies, if you haven’t had a chance to read her books you are missing out! I’ve been reading her books since her debut released and have read EVERY BOOK since. This one is the first book in a brand new duet and is a spinoff of the King series. You don’t need to read King and the rest of the books in that series to enjoy this one BUT I think you’ll appreciate it more if you do. Characters like King himself and even Preppy make minor appearances here. Preppy’s guide to kidnapping? Priceless! I laughed so much at this! If you’ve read his books, you’ll understand what I mean.
This book is Pike and Mickey’s story. These two have a love-hate relationship for sure, and while this hate is not unwarranted (he does kidnap her after all), it’s enticing to watch! Readers can feel the tumultuous relationship between these two and feel the slow and angsty burn between them. Is it right? It is wrong? Will exposed secrets change everything? Well, that’s what you’ll find out when read this book.
Overall, I loved this one. It does end in a cliffhanger and the twist at the end left me gasping, but it’s not too brutal. Besides, the next one will be released next month so the wait isn’t too bad! Fans of the author, rejoice! Because there’s a new bad boy in town who is bound to make you all fall head over heels in love!
4.5 stars
There’s something about TM Frazier’s fictional men that I can’t get enough of and Pike wasn’t any different. He’s not someone to mess with but he’s also extremely loyal and protective. He’s definitely got that alpha male vibe going on. When his business his threatened he’s determined to get answers from his only source…Mickey.
I really liked Mickey. I wasn’t quite sure what was happening at the beginning and I honestly thought she was a little bit nuts but once it clicked what was going on and what she’d been through I couldn’t help but like her.
This is a fast paced story that’s full of twists that kept me guessing. Be warned there’s an awesome cliffhanger that’s going to leave you wanting more and be prepared to fall for Pike and Mickey.
4.5 stars
TM Frazier has done it again. Holy cliffhanger. I will drop anything and everything for a King series spin-off. And let me tell you that this book does not disappoint.
Pike has lived a hard life and is working on making his own way. That is until he is robbed twice. The second time though, someone gets left behind. Someone he is hoping to get answers and to find out who is behind it all.
But that someone is a girl. A girl he stumbled across 4 years ago. But Pike isn’t getting the info out of Mickey so easily.
And lets just bring forth the undercurrent of attraction and want between these two. And when that match was struck they lit up in flames….
Definitely one click this steamy read now. Can’t wait for the second in the series.
We are back in Logan’s beach, one of my favourite fictional places with the first book in T.M Frazier’s new Pawn duet.
Pike was fast paced, full of oh my god moments where I had to stop and take a breath and a messy kind of love that T.M Frazier is known for.
If you haven’t read any T.M Frazier before then do it. But before you start take a deep breath and know that her books aren’t easy reads. They are messy, hard and realistic kinds of love. They are dark and have many triggers. But her books alway stay with me for a long time.
We return to Logan’s beach in part one of this duet and get to learn more about Pike. The story is dark, gritty and fast-paced that will have you holding your breath to see what the outcome is. In this book we could to the nitty-gritty of Pike and Mic’s story. They are both victims of circumstance and haunted by death, sins and tragedy. Chaos reigns supreme in this part of the duet. I can’t wait for the conclusion to Pike’s story!!
Another round with the bad boys of Logan Beach, in true TM Frazier style. I couldn’t wait to read Pike’s story and I couldn’t put it down once I started.
From the first page there wasn’t a quiet moment in this book, all the way to the cliff hanger on the last page. Now I’m counting days till book 2.
A well written book, with a storyline that just gives and gives. I loved the characters, the chemistry between them, and the overall tension.
Holy hotcakes! THIS book is amazing! The storyline, the characters, the chemistry. HOT! HOT! HOT! Nothing like a T.M. Frazier story to get your heart racing! I LOVED it! I cannot wait for book 2!
Pike is everything I love in an alpha hero. He is ride or die, and I love that about him. Rough and raw on the outside, but loves fiercely with all his heart. He’s not going to lay down for anyone, and he will fight till the death to protect the ones that matter to him most.
Loooovvvvveeeee Mickey! This girl is strong. Not strong in the physical sense, but mentally. She will endure whatever it takes and stop at nothing to follow through with her plan. I cannot wait for her to get the revenge she seeks. It is going to be EPIC!
T.M. Frazier blows me away with her stories. They are so exciting and intense! I love reading them. I always feel an adrenaline rush and a little bad-ass myself afterwards, lol. If you have read this author’s work before, then you already know how awesome Pike’s story is going to be. If not, you are in for such a treat!
Review by Lys
Where to begin with Pike? A product of a broken childhood, he’s learned to succeed by pulling himself up by his boots. Not one to let anyone tell him what to do or where to do it, he rules his own world. Mickey comes from a loving family with a dark secret. Together, they will blow this world up (possibly literally). We are revisited throughout with tidbits of the residents of Logan’s Beach that we have grown to know and love.
TM Frazier has an uncanny ability to bring hilarity into dark romance. Who else could successfully write an instruction manual on how to appropriately treat your hostage and have the reader laughing during it? This book doesn’t disappoint other than the cliff hanger – so if you hate those, wait for the release of Pawn in a few short weeks (thank heaven we don’t have to wait long). Go one-click today so you can dive in as soon as possible!
