MYRTLEI’m a just an erotic woman who likes control. And edgy sex. And hard men. At the same time.So starting an outreach class at the TDH community center to teach other women how to put the dom in dominatrix was inevitable. Even if I was only doing it to use my boss, Pierce, as my submissive example and pay him back for humiliating me in front of the whole world last summer.PIERCEI regret what I … front of the whole world last summer.
PIERCE
I regret what I did to Myrtle. She’s the best assistant I’ve ever had and I’ll play along—for now—because I want to make things right. But… come on. Me? A submissive? Ha. Myrtle Rothschild might have the upper hand at the moment… but I’m bringing my A-game. I’m gonna take back control.
She can wear her hot, thigh-high latex boots. She can crack that whip all she wants. Hell, I’ll even let her leave marks.
But I’m about to school Ms. Rothschild in the art of who’s the boss.
And she’s about to get Pierce-d.

Pierced is the second book in the Tall, Dark and Handsome series. This book picks up where Book 1 Sexpert left off. And what a hilarious pick up it is.
Myrtle was humiliated by Pierce. He ousted her as the Sexpert in front of hundreds of people. Since then, Pierce has tried to apologize by giving her a promotion to VP, a fat raise, expensive furniture to go in her new office and such. But this is not what she wants. Now she wants her revenge.
Pierce and Myrtle sure do have a hard time admitting how they really feel about one another. Pierce is a pig headed fool most of the time and sometimes doesn’t quite realize when he is being a jerk. At times you just want to pull your hair out and scream….”You Idiot”.
Myrtle’s character even though is tough, she really is vulnerable on the inside. She did not have the best childhood and was bullied and ridiculed often. So she tried to recreate herself as a dominatrix. But really in this book we learn that she is hiding who she truly is.
Overall this book was a great continuation of a rom-com series that will have you in stitches. This book is full of humor, life lessons and love. The characters are strong minded, determined and funny. I had plenty of laughs in this book. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for the gang at the Tall, Dark and Handsome.
Huss and McClain’s talent shines throughout Pierced. The seamless flow of the story, the smart humor and fiery passion, and the impeccable character development all lead to one wonderful book!
Myrtle’s sassy, dominant attitude is a wonderful counterpoint to Pierce’s comical sense of entitlement and lack of awareness. Their interaction is hot and hilarious!
This second book in the TDH series could be a standalone, but there are references to Sexpert (Book 1) that set the stage for this one. They’re both so good… definitely one-click worthy!
This book had me laughing from start to finish. I love the Huss McClain partnership and the worlds they create with words. A great book and worth the read.
Myrtle Rothschild is still reeling from being humiliated by her boss, Pierce Chevalier. It doesn’t matter that she has always been drawn to him wanting so much more than a boss/employee relationship. He should have been able to trust her and he didn’t. Now Pierce is doing everything in his power to get Myrtle to forgive him and Myrtle has just come up with the best revenge possible….make Pierce her submissive!
Of course as Myrtle and Pierce start spending more time together, both of their real feelings finally come to the surface and they both realize that they may think neither of them needs anyone else, but in reality they both really need each other.
OMG that was one of the funniest, sexiest books I have read in a long time. The things that Myrtle put Pierce through still has me laughing. I loved both of these characters and the story they were put through to get to their happy ending. Another great story from these two authors!
Steamy but cute-ish read.
Page turner! Great read!
Loved this book. Two totally crazy mismatched people trying to figure out what was going on between them. They spoke different languages and came from different places, but against all odds HEA.
I am really enjoying this series by co-authors J.A. Huss and Jonathan McClain! We met Myrtle and Pierce in Sexpert (book 1) and we get their story, which is hilarious, funny and romantic!
Myrtle was embarrassed in front of the whole La Man company when Pierce mistakenly named her as the Sexpert. Myrtle felt that the trust and bond she had with Pierce as his assistant was broken when he made that mistake. Pierce for his part has been trying to make it up to Myrtle since the incident by promoting her and giving her a very huge raised. What Pierce doesn’t realize is that Myrtle doesn’t need the job and was only there because of him.
Myrtle decides that exacting revenge on Pierce will make her feel better. She proposes that he be her submissive for a week and Pierce agrees with a little modification to the “contract”. What ensues is hilarious when Pierce realizes that Myrtle might be a domimatrix. As they go through with their experiment, Andrew (Pierce’s best friend) and Eden (the real Sexpert) reveals to both Pierce and Myrtle what they think is going on from their observations. The denial from Pierce and Myrtle are quick but once they really think about it, they realize that their friends might be right. But that doesn’t solve their problems. Fate intercedes for Pierce and Myrtle and it is up to them to decide if they are willing to take the chance to actually be together as a couple.
4.5 Stars
Pierced by JA Huss and Johnathan McClain is the second book in the Tall, Dark, and Handsome series. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the first book too! When we met Pierce and Myrtle in the first book, I seriously couldn’t wait to get my hands on their story. I knew it was going to be amazing and hilarious and let me say once again Huss and McClain did not disappoint!
Myrtle and Pierce-where do I even begin…Years ago, Pierce humiliated Myrtle. And he hurt her. Badly. So she has been waiting on getting even with him and she thinks she has the perfect opportunity. Pierce is willing to go along with it allowing her to exact her revenge but little does she know, he’s just waiting for the time to strike again. Will Myrtle’s plan even work? Will Pierce get her to forgive him?
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved this story. I laughed so hard and had the biggest smile on my face. Pierced was well written and full of heat and heart! Huss and McClain have this incredible connection, that when translated onto paper, is pure magic! Cannot wait to see what’s next for them!
I read this whole book with a smile on my face.
Myrtle is a pleasant surprise and I loved her! Just when you think you e figured her out…
Pierce was the annoying best friend to Andrew in The Sexpert. Now he has his own story and it’s important to get it right. He blunders his way through it all with a slowly emerging awareness and a kind heart.
They were intense and fun. A little Anastasia Steele and Mr Grey referencing had me smiling and laughing.
I truly enjoyed the cheetah/leopard/hyena/bears and Sebastian.
Pierce really is priceless! And he and Myrtle are just “too” much.
Loving this series!!
To say I was anxious for Pierce and Myrtle’s story would be an understatement. I wanted to know more about them both but mostly I wanted to watch and laugh as Pierced tried to dig his way out of the mess he’d created with Myrtle. And while he definitely buried himself deeper before he managed to dig himself out, I rather enjoyed the process and seeing Myrtle get Pierced. 😉
Huss & McClain did a great job of balancing levity – Pierce sticking his foot in it over and over – with the deep. There was a lot of self-discovery and character development mixed in with tigers, hot wax, and other implements of torture…er, fun. The way the authors conveyed Pierce and Myrtle’s upbringing and how it shaped them and their approach to relationships made for a compelling story. And witnessing them navigate a start to a new kind of relationship with one another, while mending the old one, was all kinds of fun.
I’m eager to see what happens next in the TDH!
Another 5-star by Huss/McCain. I love their writing, their characters, and the amazing stories they create. Pierce and Myrtle were introduced to us in The S*xpert, which you should read first although it’s not required. These are unusual characters for sure! But infinitely interesting, and both have closed themselves off to relationships, or at least they thought they did. Theirs is a journey unlike any other, and besides being laugh-out loud funny at times, it’s a beautiful love story.
Julia and Jonathan has once again done amazing job with this rom/com. Pierce and Myrtle had a working relationship until Pierce done the unexpected. But Myrtle is determine to get revenge. A must read for sure from the beginning to the end. Don’t miss out.
Huss and McClain are an incredible writing duo! They started with Romantic Suspense, and Pierced is the second book in their Rom Com genre. Our (at times) blundering Hero, Pierce, wrongly and publicly accuses our heroine, Myrtle, of a business wrongdoing. He continuously tries to apologize, but she’s finding it hard to let go of the humiliation she suffered as a result. She hatches a plan to give him a taste of his own humble pie, except things don’t go according to plan.
I loved the “heart to heart” conversations they had with their respective best friends (who happen to be dating one another), who aren’t afraid to put “names” to some of their confused feelings. At times, the banter is quick witted and full of a-ha moments, and at other times, the conversations are slower allowing realizations to form. Since the story is told from a dual POV, readers really get a chance to see how Pierce and Myrtle evolve individually and ultimately as a couple.
I absolutely love the quirky and sometimes snarky style these two authors write into their characters. Actually, it’s a bit like them!
Compromise. To me that is the theme of this story. Sometimes we think we know those closest to us. Sometimes we think we know ourselves. Then something, or someone, happens and every thought we had changes. Changes the way we view others and the way we view ourselves. Sometimes we just want to have control. Complete control. Partial control. Any kind of control. Sometimes we just want to let go. Let whatever happens, happen. It’s finding that person, or people, to have around you, that you can be whatever you were meant to be. Do whatever you want to do. Act however you want to act. And not be judged for it. To just be able to be yourself and people be who they are.
I loved this book! If you have not read Sexpert, you’re going to want to grab that too!
Pierced is a spin off of Sexpert and I was so excited when I found out who it was about. I loved Myrtle from Sexpert. She is a strong, sexy, and fierce executive assistant for Pierce. That is until he totally screws up in Sexpert. Now he is trying to make up for it- in all wrong ways. Myrtle doesn’t need her fancy raise or cushy VP of social media title. She wants payback. And so she has this idea of how Pierce can show he is truly sorry.
Pierce is hilarious and I’m so glad we get to see inside his inner thoughts because they are even funnier than what he says. He would do anything for Myrtle. He cannot lose his #1. So sure, he will do what she says- for now but he will get his turn to be the boss in and out of work and when he does- man is it sexy.
I loved this book so much. It made me laugh out loud, smile to myself, and hot in all the best ways. This is one of my favorite books by JA Huss and Johnathan McClain. You need to one click this and then one click Sexpert.
In JA Huss and Johnathan McClain’s previous book The Sexpert, Pierce very publicly (and very erroneously) blamed Myrtle for something she didn’t do. After that humiliation, she has yet to forgive him, no matter how hard he tries. So when she approaches him about being a submissive to her dominatrix ways, how can he say no?
I really liked Myrtle in the Sexpert and liked her in this book as well. Pierce is…well, Pierce. He’s a one of a kind. Does Myrtle ever forgive him? Read and find out.
I need to give this 3.75 stars is that a thing?? Well it is now LOL. This sexy romcom ticked all the boxes with these characters. Funny, Filthy and flawed. Pierce and Myrtle I felt couldn’t get out of their own way. And it took them a while to get past that. Julie and Johnathan have mastered the art of banter and hilarity and it was just the lift I needed!
Huss and McClain have written comedy gold with Pierced. I haven’t had this much fun reading a book in quite a while and the wildly crazy romance between Pierce and Myrtle made my day that much better. These two. I’m not sure where to start but I will just say this: they couldn’t be more perfectly matched.
Pierce as the owner of Le Man magazine should be all grace and power and refinement. Yet when it comes to women or more importantly, the woman he doesn’t realize he loves, suddenly he’s hapless and fumbling and trying his hardest not to continually put his foot in his mouth. And I loved him for it. Just the fact that he was willing to do anything and I mean anything to get Myrtle to forgive him for humiliating her in front of the entire staff (read The Sexpert to witness that debacle firsthand) was absolutely wonderful. He can’t remember anything about the rest of his staff, yet everything about Myrtle to him is burned into heart and mind. Le sigh!
And Myrtle. Her hard shell exterior holds a vulnerable awkward girl on the inside. She is truly a puzzle that it seems only Pierce can solve. I loved her tenacity, her driven attitude and the way she could scare anyone in her path. And even when she is a bit lost since her ‘promotion’ at Le Man, she is still the fierce goddess that only a man like Pierce can both tame and adore.
These two go through quite the journey to finally admit their hidden feelings for each other. It’s almost insane the lengths these two go to and not only was some of it very erotic but at the same time there is that smart humor that Huss and McClain deliver time and again. Only they can mix wit and sex flawlessly!!
The various uses of the word Pierced was downright clever and once again shows the gift that Huss and McClain have when it comes to this TDH series. Their comic flair is pure genius and I myself was Pierced more than once throughout this book.
For a story that combines matter of the heart with wickedly shrewd fun, grab Pierced and enjoy this battle of wills and power that is sure to put a huge smile on your face.
5 stars!
This amazing writing duo DOMINATED the hell out of this book! Pierce humiliated and hurt the one person who has always had his back, his assistant Myrtle and she has a plan to get even. Myrtle wants to humiliate Pierce so he can feel half of what she felt by his betrayal. Myrtle and Pierce’s banter and laugh out loud moments had me so enamored with their story, I couldn’t let it go until the end. If you loved the Sexpert you’re going to obsess over Pierced, so grab this book now!
