Just because helping out is the right thing to do doesn’t make it easy … they definitely don’t have Pete’s either. Pierce is about to change all that … whether they like it or not.
Hedi, a young deputy, has lived in Arrowhead, Colorado, all her life and knows Pete and Salem but was helpless to do much when greed overtook his friends and family. She recognizes in Pierce the same qualities that Pete has, and, by Pierce’s actions alone, she knows a corner has been turned. She also understands the locals won’t take it lying down, and this means war …
Pierce served his country overseas for many years, and seeing another veteran in trouble makes him realize the fight isn’t over, even after life in the navy ends. In fact, this battle has just begun. But … this one … Pierce will finish. And he plans to win.

Pierce sets off on his own War Dog search and gets a lot more than he bargains for when he meets the small town Sheriff and Deputy. Pete is in the rehabilitation center and his dog, Salem is missing. There is lots of drama with a free loading brother, crooked sheriff and the lovely deputy who wants to do the right things. Definitely another winner and need more!
Pierce and Heidi have their work cut out for them if they hope to help Pete and his missing K9. This new series is fantastic. All the characters are great and draw you into their stories. The premise behind the plots is unique and refreshing. There is a lot packed into this book. I can’t wait for more!
Pierce wasn’t sure he was ready to join the Titanium group, but when he heard this assignment he had to take it. Pete was in rehab and his dog Salem had fallen through the cracks of the system. When he arrives in town he stops at the diner and gathers unexpected intel on the dog. She’d bitten someone and was caged at the sheriff’s office.
The Sheriff leaves much to be desired, but one of his deputies Hedi was someone Pierce could respect and support.
As the sheriff is dismissive of Salem, Hedi was concerned. Unfortunately the sheriff is just as dismissive of Hedi and her abilities as a deputy.
There is a lot going on in this little town. Much caused by the Sheriff’s obvious misogynistic view of women. A trait shared by many of the men in town.
Pierce’s concern over Salem is now extended to Hedi as he takes a stand to bring Pete back home.
Betrayal of the highest order, not only by Pete’s brother but also the Sheriff.
This book had me crying, holding my breath and crossing my fingers for Pierce and Hedi.
I can’t wait to read the next book. I am loving the HEA for both these dogs and the men sent to find them.
.Pierce discovers that Salem, the retired military dog that he is searching for, was declared a danger to the town. Instead of being destroyed, Salem is now missing. As Pierce continues to investigate, he discovers that Pete, an injured veteran who partnered with Salem, is also being taken advantage of by his brother. Pierce wants to help both Pete and Salem but there those in town that oppose them. His strongest ally is Hedi, a local deputy. I received a free copy of this book from the author. This is a terrific addition to the series. It brings to life how some military dogs and handlers return to this country. This book is also suspenseful. I really enjoy this book and this series.
This is a wonderful series – highlighting SEALs who are dealing with injuries and getting their lives back together. Then there are the K9 dogs – who can resist being touched by how horribly some of these animals have been treated yet they respond when they are showed kindness.
In this story, Pierce is sent to find Salem. But as he starts digging into Salem’s disappearance, he learns of what happened to Pete – Salem’s owner and a SEAL. And the story wouldn’t be complete without their being a female for Pierce to be attracted to. In this case it is a deputy who is having to deal with a sexist Sheriff who happens to be her boss.
Once I started reading, I didn’t want to put the book down. I just had to find out how things were going to turn out for Salem, Pete, Pierce and Hedi – and I was not disappointed.
I was kindly provided this book as an ARC; in exchange for my honest review. This is book 2 of 3 (so far) in The K9 Files series. This book centers around Pierce and Hedi.
Pierce former Navy K9 handler is severely injured and his dog, Trigger killed. Now, Pierce is out of the Navy and tasked by Titanium Security (see SEALs Of Steel series) to locate/rescue one of a about 12 dogs potentially in trouble that had gone missing or were in bad situations. The dog assigned to Pierce to follow up on is Salem, a K9 military dog that belonged to Pete, a veteran, who was severely injured and forced to return to the VA rehab. Pete thought he’d left his beloved dog in the safe hands of his brother Ross. Only to learn his brother and others had abused her and were threatening her life.
No one has Salem’s or Pete’s best interests in mind. Pierce arrives in Arrowhead, CO to discover a county in crisis and a potential new love in Hedi.
I’ll state this story definitely flowed much more easily than the first in this series and didn’t feel so “laid-out.” Again, it seems the author is moving more toward writing mystery/suspense rather than straight alpha type romance that this genre typically falls in. It’s still very good, but may not be what the reader is expecting. As always, the grammar, editing and spelling are top-notch (which anymore is NOT common and makes me crazy .)
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
Pierce is the second book in The K9 Files series, it can be read as a standalone and we do have some past characters from the SEALs of Steel have small references. The work these brave men are doing to save to a missing K9, all the drama that unfolds when Pierce stands for what he believes in. Another well-written story, captivating storyline with strong likable characters. Highly entertaining, definitely recommended.
The action in this book starts as soon as Pierce arrives in town looking for a missing war dog. He finds the situation is much worse than they thought, both for the dog and her human partner. Hedi is the only deputy in town that is willing to help Pierce. The two get closer as they work together to help bring the Pete and Salem back together.

Pierce is searching for War Dog Salem, as his owner has been placed in a rehabilitation center and his whereabouts are unknown. Heidi is a deputy and seems to be the only law enforcement officer in the area who cares about the people. Heidi and Pierce team up to help a disabled vet and find long lost Salem. They run into many difficulties – can they find the dog, help the veteran, and the people in this small Colorado community? Read and find out!
Pierce, onto K9-02 or Salem as she was know, it was his job to find her and reunite her but there was a mystery and the towns sheriff to get through. Heidi is a deputy but being the only female amongst men who think a woman’s job is to be at home only she has a job on her hands. Throughout this book we get intrigue, attempted murder, arson and everything else we get from an awesome book. As Pierce helps Salem find herself and be united with his owner, he has to fight against the locals to make sure Pete gets home and the county remains lawful. Loved this book with great characters and storyline.
Pierce saves both the dog and her handler.
Pierce is the next K9 handler in book 2 of this new series. Salem has gone missing after her handler, Pete, went to rehab and Pete’s brother selfishly takes advantage of his absence. Pierce finds he’s not just up against the brother, but all his lazy, good-for-nothing friends, including the local sheriff. One deputy, Hedi, is determined to do her best despite the opposition, and in Pierce she finds not only a kindred spirit but also a fierce defender.
Together Hedi and Pierce stand up for law and order, rescue and protect Salem, and help Pete get back to the life he’s earned. Along the way romance blossoms, and Pierce and Hedi find answers for their own futures as well.
The action is pretty intense in this story, not leaving much time for the love story, instead showcasing the power local law enforcement can have, especially when it’s in the wrong hands. There is a triumphant good-vs-evil HEA at the end, making this a wonderful romantic suspense story with terrific heroes and genuine respect for the sacrifices our veterans have made for their country. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Pierce is off to Colorado to find Salem, a missing K9 who is a former military dog. He (Pierce) finds much more on this endeavor. Pete, Salem’s partner, is now back in rehab and his brother, Ross, has volunteered to take care of Salem at Pete’s home. This is much worse than it sounds as Ross is actually not caring for the dog, the property or the home but rather taking Pete’s retirement money and planning to leave. Along the way we meet a lazy sheriff, his equally lazy deputies and some icky residents who are pretty sure they can prevent Pete from ever returning home. Thank goodness we also meet Heidi, the good deputy, her dad the ex-sheriff and people who are willing to fight for what they believe. We learn some lessons about persevering, love, honor and standing by the ones who need us. Excellent book!
The story will grab you and make it hard to put down, the characters are fantastic.
The second book in the K-9 files Sends Pierce to Colorado to check on Salem a retired War Dog and to help if he can. He finds that there is a lot of things wrong.
I love Pierce’s attitude and how he reacts to the situation that Pete (Salem’s handler) is in. Hedi a deputy that wants to help has to deal with an all male Sheriff’s Department and a very prejudice Sheriff who thinks women should be at home cooking.
When Pierce decides to help Pete he start a War with the more unsavory characters in town but doesn’t care, Hedi is willing to help him for Pete and Salem sake.

I enjoyed this book as much as the first in this new series. I’m a huge animal lover and even though it hurts the heart to read about cruelty to any animal, knowing Pierce is out there to make sure this war dog gets the help, love and the respect it deserves (and find love) just makes this a fantastic read
Wow action packed from start to finish, lots of suspense and some violence. Exciting and non stop threats, a dog who has lost all trust in men and a woman with no trust of her colleagues. These two females come to realise there are still.people out there willing to stand up and fight for what’s right and for those unable to fight for themselves. With that also comes others willing to stand with them. Fantastic plot, a flow that had me reading till I finished it, great new series and dogs to break your heart for what they have suffered. Human characters who are also finding their way back to recovery and taking up life again with a little love to.ease the load.
This is a free and honest review
This is the 2nd book of the new series the k9 files by Dale Mayer pierce is a veteran and working for a group who is tasked to look into the care of the war dogs. Pierce goes to look up what had happened to the dog after the other veteran couldn’t take care of himself or the dog and then there’s hedi a young female police officer who was up against the good old boy attitude where woman should stay home and raise babies. I loved how he helped a fellow solider when he needed time to heal and how Pete and the dog do getting reunited
This is book 2 in The K-9 Files series .

A 5 read . All the way .
Pierce is ex-military after being severely injured. With multiple internal injuries and the loss of one of his legs he was expected to live. After what must have been years Pierce is working for Titanium Company which is a group of ex-Navy Seals who were all hurt in the same bombing. (Read their stories in the Seals of Steel series.) Pierce is sent to Colorado to find Salem, a ex-War Dog who was separated from his handler, Pete, and no one can find her.
This author never disappoints. The suspense in her stories keeps me turning the pages (tapping my Kindle) well into the wee hours of the morning. Good one, Ms. Mayer.

Pierce: K9 Files, Book 2
Titanium Corp (founded by the members from SEALs of Steel) has tasked Pierce Carlton with the mission to locate a Veteran War Dog named Salem, who went missing after her wounded Handler was forced into a rehab unit due to his injuries.
However, no one anticipated that Pierce would walk into an area where not only was the dog in serious trouble, but also her Veteran (Pete Lowery) and the community itself.
Deputy Hedi Miller is one of a handful of folks who steps up to support Pierce, Pete and Salem as they face the dangerous side of greed and lawless bullies. Three Wounded Warriors fight to survive and claim a life on this side of their military service.
Book 2 in the K9 Files series is as much a page turner as one expects from Dale Mayer with twists, turns, ups, & downs in a powerful story.

Pierce is the second book of the K9 series. He volunteers to search for the missing K9 Salem in Colorado and finds more than he expected. He meets Hedi, daughter of the former sheriff and a current deputy in a department that does not defend or protect. She is one of the few who is protective of the missing dog and her community. Together, Pierce and Hedi piece together what happened to Salem, her master and the going ons of the neighboring property. Respect, mutual support, community. Another wonderful book in the K9 series and I look forward to more books to come. Bravo!
