Just because helping out is the right thing to do doesn’t make it easy … they definitely don’t have Pete’s either. Pierce is about to change all that … whether they like it or not.
Hedi, a young deputy, has lived in Arrowhead, Colorado, all her life and knows Pete and Salem but was helpless to do much when greed overtook his friends and family. She recognizes in Pierce the same qualities that Pete has, and, by Pierce’s actions alone, she knows a corner has been turned. She also understands the locals won’t take it lying down, and this means war …
Pierce served his country overseas for many years, and seeing another veteran in trouble makes him realize the fight isn’t over, even after life in the navy ends. In fact, this battle has just begun. But … this one … Pierce will finish. And he plans to win.

What an awesome start to a new series! How can you go wrong with a Hero that has heart, a Heroine who is his perfect match and a dog!! I so enjoyed this book and I always enjoy a book with a puppy! Can not wait for the rest of the series.

Salem is a war dog a hero and now assigned to Pete. Pete is ill and in a nursing home to help him heal and Salem is suppose to be being taken care of by Petes brother.
Pierce is a veteran that was asked to check on the War Dogs who had come home and been assigned to familys. Some were missing and or not being treated with the respect they had earned.
Pierce heads to Colorado to find Salem and finds a lot more. This story is heart breaking and full of love and trust. I cannot say much more without doing a spoiler and I hate to do those. If you love dogs and veterans you will love this book and the whole series. Each book is so different and full of surprise twist and turns you do not expect.
Dale Mayer has done it again. Her books are amazing and touch on so many subjects. They will make you laugh, cry and keep turning the pages to see what happens next.

The K9 series continues with Pierce on the hunt for Salem who has been separated from his owner who couldn’t look after him due to medical issues. Pierce arrives in Arrowhead, the last place Salem was known to be and the search begins. Immediately Pierce runs into opposition but through the help of Hedi a local deputy he starts to make progress but at every turn obstacles are out in his way. Pierce knows that all is not right in Arrowhead and sets out to right many wrongs and find Salem. A great story which is gripping from the start.

Received an advance copy from the author through Booksprout.
Just WOW!! I loved the story line in this book, it has all the emotions! Pierce and Hedi were great together and what they did for Pete was just amazing. It was great watching Salem come to trust Pierce, and the reunion with Pete was so well written.
Another great story from the new series of Ms. Mayer. Another mission to save a beloved war dog of a wounded vet. How could someone see a dog as a mere object was beyond me. They’re the most loyal friend to a human.
So, what I loved most about this book, aside from the front and centre role of the dog, was the main characters. They had positive attitude that shone through each page. It’s easy to focus on the story with positive characters. Made me rooted for them.
I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher through Booksprout, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.
Pierce is sent in to find dog number 2 from the list, that the Titanium group is looking for. When he arrives, there is a whole lot of No Good going on. Pete, the dogs handler is in a rehab hospital, not really because he needs to be, but he was made to feel that way, by his brother. And his dog is missing! It’s up to Pierce to sort out the mystery of what’s going on. With the help of the very able and beautiful deputy sheriff Hedi, these two expose the dirty darkness of this town!
Pierce is sent to check on Salem, the war dog that was owned by Pete. Pete has been in a vet rehab facility, and Salem had to be rehomed. Now she’s missing, and Pierce is hoping to find her and reunite her with Pete, if he can get the modifications done to Pete’s home. Hedi is a deputy, and constantly running into trouble with her boss, a pretty pathetic excuse for a sheriff.
An exciting, page turner that will have you on the edge of your seat! You’ll fall in love with the characters in this book, and cheer them on throughout the story.

Pierce is a member of Titanium Corporation and his assignment is find the missing K9 Salem. Her owner is a veteran who has now been placed in a rehab facility and has been betrayed by the people he trusted to look after Salem and his home.
With the help of Deputy Heidi they find out that Salem is not the only one that has been mistreated and it will take all their strength to stop the corruption and they not only need to protect each other but also those that can’t protect themselves.
This is a story about doing the right thing which is filled with romance, suspense and twists.
WOW!
This series is really gearing up! This is a fantastic story about a group of military trained dogs retired/discharged from the military who lost track of them along the way through budget cuts and the like.
Pierce is a war veteran himself and has his own scars to prove it. He is on a mission as a favor to a Commander to help find a particular war dog. He finds the K9 he is looking for, but Salem has been abused and neglected. Pierce is going to do everything in his power to save this dog, he deserves it.
Heidi is a Deputy Sheriff that is dealing with a boss that is drunk on his own power, lazy and looks the other way when the town bullies cause trouble. He has no respect for women and even less for women in the police force. This is a story that has multiple levels and has several underlying issues all going on. The corrupt Sheriff and his cronies are more than happy to send a lone, female Deputy into nasty situations and handle them without any backup while they sit at their desks and do nothing.
This story deals with town bullies, domestic situations and unemployed men who drink to solve their problems. I love the camaraderie between Pierce and Heidi as they deal with the town problems and also help gain the trust of the K9 Pierce was sent to locate. They also help Salem’s previous K9 handler get his life back along with his home.
Such a heartwarming story. There is a lot of satisfaction in the successes experienced here. There are good people in this world. There are many twist and turns that make this story so memorable. You discover that there are heroes on many levels.
Excellent job! I loved it!
This wonderful series continues with Pierce Carlton looking for Salem, a black female German shepherd a K9 military dog who might or might not be missing. I enjoyed his dynamic with the other characters especially his instant attraction and undeniable chemistry with Hedi Miller, a deputy in Arrowhead, Colorado, where Salem was last seen. This action-packed drama had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and is a must read for anyone who likes well-crafted suspenseful romance with strong characters. I look forward to book three in this thrilling series.

WOW, You need to grab this book and read it! Pierce is amazing and a one of a kind. This is the second book in this awesome series and maybe my favorite.
Pierce is the second book of Dale Mayer’s K9 series. Like in other books in this series, human and canine characters hold the key roles, and the focus of the story lies in the interactions and the relationships between them.
The plot is particularly rich, with a comprehensive cast of characters, whose intertwined tales create a lively and multi-faceted picture of the small community where the narrative is set.
Both protagonists have unusual and intriguing personalities.
Pierce, a veteran dog handler, has a positive and assertive attitude. He does not let his past circumstances undermine his future; to the contrary, he moves forward with drive and determination.
Hedi, the heroine, is intelligent and strong-willed, competent and skilled, and has a generous and loving disposition.
The third protagonist, Pete, is a wounded veteran whose recovery is marred by solitude and depression. His beloved war dog is missing, and his greedy brother is on a quest to take over all his possessions.
The story is centered on Pierce becoming the catalyst for the overturning of Pete’s life. With relentless energy, Pierce wins the support of Pete’s friends, finds his dog, and fights back on his behalf.
The plot is gripping, full of twists, and keeps the readers glued to the page. There is plenty of action, but there are also many sweet and touching moments.
Overall, Pierce is a very good novel that entertains and inspires, makes time fly and gifts the reader with a few hours of emotions and joy.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Opinions and comments are solely my own
This is the second book in the series. I liked it more then the first book. Pierce is sent to find a missing War Dog who was sent home with her handler. Her handler Pete is in a veterans facility and entrusted his brother to take care of both his house and the dog Salem. Hedi is a deputy in the town where her father was sheriff but now they have a crooked sheriff who has no use for women. Hedi is a kick ass woman who helps out Pierce and he helps her to fight off the men in town want the dog dead and no outside interference from Pierce.
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it. A great follow up to the first book.

Veteran Pierce is on the hunt for Salem – a missing K9 veteran who has become missing after his veteran handler Pete was stuck in a hospital in recovery. When he arrives in Colorado it becomes clear that she has been labelled as dangerous and now the law is involved. It seems no one has Salen’s bests interests at heart and it appears they don’t seem to see Pete as anyone other than someone to forget while they take everything that is his. Pierce is determined to change all that no matter what anyone else thinks! Heidi is a young deputy who is unable to do anything to help Pete and Salem against a background of bribes, greed and corruption – but when Pierce arrives she sees in him someone who will ensure that the right thing is finally done – even if the locals won’t appreciate it – so there is soon to be war different to anything Pierce as experienced overseas but he is determined that this one will be one he will win.
OMG – this story was so dramatic and it had so many twists and turns. Amazing to see how corrupt the folks in that area could become and their behaviour and so I was thrilled when Pierce decided to sort the whole sorry mess out. Heidi and Pierce made a great team and it was so nice to realise that they actually had a mutual attraction too. As for the ending wow that was great and perfect for them all (definitely, a happily ever after is ever I read one!). Well written and very enjoyable you will be drawn in by the story which will stop you from putting the book down until you finish it.
When Badger asks Pierce to be part of a team that goes to find the War dogs that has been lost track of.He is told that Pete had to go back into rehab an his brother was supposed to be caring for Salem. But when he gets to town he stops for a piece of pie ends up eating a meal an pie. He asks the waitress about Salem she says he attacked Pete’s brother but Pierce asks what Pete’s brother did to Salem. She said the last time she heard the Sheriff had the dog an that he was going to be destroyed. The Sheriff came in when he asked about Salem he said he didn’t know where the dog is because the wire had been cut in the cage.He also say that anyone in town would put a bullet in the dog.A beautiful deputy walks in but the Sheriff is being a complete ass. When Pierce leaves the deputy stops an asks why he’s looking for the dog he tells her the dog is a vet that served his country an should have a good home an did til Pete ended up in rehab. He found Salem an it didn’t take long to make Salem follow commands. He called Pete sneaked if he wanted to come home but Pete said he didn’t have a way to get around his house so he’s probably never get back home.He tells Pete he will see what it will take to make it so Pete can come home. This story has suspense, danger, action, animal abuse until someone comes to the animals rescue.I love the way the vet save a vet and a war dog while finding love when he wasn’t looking for it.
I loved this book, the 2nd in the new K9 Files series. The book is about K9 military dogs and how they are released/discharged from the military due to PTSD, illness and/or injury. The book grabs you from the very start and doesn’t let go. It keeps you turning the pages as the story unfolds and becomes very intense. It talks about how these members of our military need to be treated with respect and should be taken care of after serving our country. I absolutely love how Dale writes about this topic! Love the story line and love the characters! What an awesome book and subject!

Things are heating up in this second installment of the K9 files. Pierce is looking for a dog separated from her handler when he went into rehab. As he comes to the small town in Colorado, he is confronted by several small minded people. Deputy Hedi stands by him through what turns out to be a fight for survival. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Dramatic, suspenseful and filled with action, this book held my attention very easily. The story itself is engaging and often heartbreaking. I liked Pierce and Heidi and felt emotionally invested in the outcome of this book. The main focus of this entertaining series does not really seem to be romance. So I will say if that is the expectation you go into these books with, I think you will feel shortchanged. I am posting a forthright, voluntary review.
This is the second book in the K9 series and has TONS of action. This book was worth reading and was terrific.
Pierce certainly finds much more than he bargained for in his search for the missing K9. His journey takes him to a dangerous place but he faces these dangers with strength, determination and bravery.
This is a beautifully written story which I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend to you.
