Marble isn’t the only thing that’s hard at this museum. His body is as chiseled as Adonis. His lips are as sculpted as David. And his ego is the size of the Guggenheim. You know the type—wolfish smile and the gravity of a black hole. The kind of man who sucks all the air from the room the second he enters it. My cocky boss thinks this internship was wasted on me, and he doesn’t hesitate to let me … hesitate to let me know.
But he’s wrong, and I’m going to prove it to him. If I can stay away from his devil lips, that is. Lips that cut me down and kiss me in the same breath, leaving me certain he’s on a mission to ruin my life.
And maybe my heart, too.

Ok I’m totally jealous of the height in this book. At 5’3″ on a good day, topping 6′ is unfathomable. But I digress.
What a quick fun whirlwind of a story. It was quick to lust, quick to love. Many many times I wanted to throttle Court and I was happy that Rin stood up for herself, but then a bit disappointed she would “cave” IMO to quickly. I get it, when you love/lust someone you see past the hurts and flaws.
I can’t wait for my paperback copy of Cocktales to arrive to further their story. (I have the ebook version as well, but am waiting so I can pick and choose easier which stories to read).
Rin tries to go through life in the most invisible way possible. Shy, clumsy and incredibly tall, she is not comfortable in her own body, her height attracts attention, and so she hides behind loose, shapeless clothes. Upon landing an internship at the Met Museum, she does not make a good impression on her new superior and so ends up confined in a distant room doing research and learning nothing at all.
Court is the curator of the museum, incredibly determined, as handsome as his works of art, a powerful man who exudes sex appeal. All his focus at the moment is on his new project: bringing Michelangelo’s David to spend a season in the museum. With so much work and a tight deadline, the new intern can be a help at that time, after all she is intelligent and capable. Too bad she’s always so scared and shy.
Rin’s dream job is turning into a nightmare. She does not understand the hostility she receives from Bianca, does not understand Court’s glances, or why someone would deliberately try to get her to fail. Unwilling not to be invisible anymore, she has the help of her friends and a fairy godmother, and in new clothes, a new haircut, makeup and a red lipstick, the shy girl turns into a powerful woman, a woman who exudes confidence and who finally has the courage to show herself to the world.
Court has one rule: do not get involved with employees. But the new intern little by little is attracting his attention, to the point that he can not get her of his head. If the quiet girl had charmed him already, the sight of her with the red lipstick made him lose his mind.
And amid artworks, a trip to Italy, a statue of David, a jealous co-worker, a controlling father and a secret from the past, the two will cross the line between work and pleasure.
Rin is the epitome of the awkward girl. She is very intelligent, very competent in her work, but she has a very great insecurity on account of her body. Her height is a big problem for her, her self esteem is affected by it. When she finally decides to give herself a chance and embrace the beautiful woman she is, she discovers that much more than esthetic this transformation has given a voice to her, has given her the ability to really impose herself and show the world her full potential. Do not confuse this change in the protagonist with futility, Rin is much more complex.
Court got hurt a lot in the past. It is shocking when the reader discovers what actually happened, but it serves to understand the character and understand his behavior in some situations. He takes time to accept that he is falling in love, but when he acknowledges, he takes no pains to show how sincere he is.
The antagonists were important, each with its motives. Bianca was the personification of interest, that person who has no scruples to achieve what she wants. Court’s father and stepmother were despicable.
Rin and Court irritated me in a few moments, but nothing to compromise the story. His ultimate idea for saving her was not his best decision. Good thing he fixes the damage. We have the story of the ugly duckling who finds an enchanted prince. And beautiful works of art on the backdrop.
Unlike many books I review, I didn’t review an ARC copy for this one hence I loved the surprise even more because I like to discover more authors I could like and follow. The other day I discovered this book while I browsed the TOP 100 Bestseller List on Amazon and added it on my TBR. I add many books every day and read only few because there is a lot of new releases I would love to read but don’t have the time. I am glad I took one of my last weekends before exams start again to read this one.
Our main protagonist is Hyo Rin Van De Meer, who is a shy student who is about to be an intern at The Met, the famous museum located in New York City. She is the type of student every professor would want: serious, studious, trustworthy, receptive. For this reason, she was able to get good grades and to land this internship at a prestigious museum and in the department she liked the most which is about European Art. She tries her best not to stand out because she thinks she is already too visible because of her height and Korean heritage, so when she arrives at the offices where she will work for a few months, she tries to appear confident but at the same time, she is submissive and always holding her head low. It doesn’t help that the assistant of the director of that department and said director are cold as ice, and make Rin feel even more uncomfortable.
Court Lyons, known by all by Dr. Lyons, is responsible for the department where Rin starts her internship. He is arrogant, a jerk, and as the title says, a piece of work. He is good at his job and one of the reasons he is able to keep it all in check besides his skills at managing his department, is that he doesn’t start relationships with the people who work for him, especially of the sexual type. He acts like this at work because of what happened to him in his past: his heart is guarded. Court is ruthless, determined, and he gets what he wants. But he’ll soon realize that sometimes he can’t have everything, because he can’t control other people’s wills but he also can’t control his heart.
One thing I liked a lot in this book was that our main female character, Rin, was half-Korean. I love everything Korean, and I always wanted to read a book with a person of Korean descent, but until today I found NONE – please, comment if you know good books with Korean characters, thanks. This already makes her different compared to the usual female characters because her traits are unusual, special. And she sort of acts like one of those Korean characters you see on K-Drama: she is shy, clumsy, and honest. She just needs to believe more in herself and to try new things.
Rin and Court have many things in common. The first and obvious one is art. They both love art, and in the book there is Renaissance art involved, which showed our characters’ involvement through some pieces that were mentioned. This century was one of the most flourishing in art above all in Italy, and it was full of contradictions. I loved the connection with Italian art because I am Italian and I like when authors talk about Italy in their books and write nice things about this country.
Besides the mutual love for this department, the second thing they have in common is that both Court and Rin think they are living, but in reality, they are not.
Rin has always lived the life of the perfect student. I’ve met a few of them myself during my University years, and let me tell you, these people were good at studying but some of them didn’t do anything other than that. Rin has friends, has had some dates during the University years, but she has never dared to know people deeper, to know herself deeper, to be less submissive and get mad when she’s mistreated instead of staying silent.
The Rin of the first chapters has her head down the floor and tries to hide herself, while as the book progresses, Rin tries to believe more in herself and accept her body and herself as a person and dares to stand out and make her voice be heard. In the beginning I believe her change was due to the fact that she had seen Court and wanted to impress him, but she explains that everything she changed about her appearance, from her outfits to the way she dons her hair, she did it for herself. Her changes in attitude happened because she wanted them to happen. And she tells us that sometimes it’s a random lipstick that we bought because we liked it but we fear that everyone will look at us when we wear it that may boost our confidence. I can relate because I also love lipstick and make up and I often wear colors that stand out. At first I think “omg, what am I doing, people will laugh at me”, then, after I get back home, I realize that now that I dared to wear it outside, the next time I will have more confidence.
Court was also barely living. Like Rin who was doing what she thought was right and achieving her dreams and keeping herself in the shadows, he was keeping himself too much in the light but he wasn’t enlightened at all. On the contrary, he was sure of himself and arrogant and many could think his life was perfect, but the truth was that he was alone.
After a scar left by his past, he has decided to guard his heart and be cold towards everyone at work. He only wanted to do his job and do it properly, avoiding all the distractions such as his new intern. His change happens gradually and it doesn’t set in until the end. He is controlling and this is an example of why he is not living. Control could be okay in certain situations, but when our whole life is controlled and everything about us is manipulated and not genuine, we are not really living. We are just functioning as if we were robots, computers. For Court is hard to give up his control, but eventually, after he sees the light and the sane reasoning Rin brings in his life, he will realize that he may be guarding his heart but he can’t be up 24/7 and always be vigil. At some point, he will let his guard down and that is when the true turning point for his character happens and his life is not only shadows. It’s ironic that a woman who likes to live in the dark is able to bring peace and positivity into the life of a man born to be a Sun who should radiate warmth.
This is why I liked Court and Rin. Court was the dark and Rin was the light. He was the irrational part while she was rational. Many things Court does are planned, reasoned, like I said, controlled, but the truth is that he is an impulsive man. He says he keeps his promises but the outcome always changes. He was a surprising male character because I never knew what he would do, and at times he really did things that make he roll my eyes. But I think he acted crazily when he started to understand that he didn’t have control over Rin and over the situation that they created and this caused him to act thoughtlessly.
Every time Court acted like an impulsive bastard, Rin called him out on his bullshit and I liked it. She wanted him but her integrity came first, so she only let him do it what she agreed he could do to her. Maybe she fit with Court because he was possessive and controlling and she was strong and not obeyed when she didn’t want to, and said yes to his demands when she also wanted to do what he had asked her. This way Rin will always do what she really feels to do and not what Court thinks they should do. She was able to loosen his controlling ways and make him believe that he could love again and trust people, and he was able to help her shine even more.
One last thing before I’m done with this review. There were some Italian phrases in the book. As an Italian living in Italy and speaking Italian, I have to say I was glad that the author did some research on the terms and used well-constructed phrases that didn’t seem copy-pasted out of Google Translate (I hope they aren’t. But if they are, at least GT did a good translation). One term I would have changed as a native speaker was the title “Dottore” referred to Dr. Lyons and to the other curator. Now, this term is not wrong. “dottore” is used to refer not only to any doctor, but also to graduates in any discipline. Here the title was given as it should had, but I would have cut the “e” and only written “Dottor” instead of “Dottore”, since when you speak or write it has a better flow in the phrase. Like, in English, you say “Doctor”. It has a better ring to it. But of course, this is just my opinion as a native speaker.
So, I will surely read another book by Staci Hart after this one because I think I’ll also enjoy her other titles (spoiler: I found out I had many of them already in my TBR list).
Fantastic story! Perfect amount of romance and angst ever! Love Staci’s book’s and this one definitely didn’t disappoint.
“Lipstick could change your life”
Piece of Work is an amazing, sweet and sensual romance that will lighten your heart.
Hyo-Rin Van de Meer is an astute and brilliant graduate student working on her PhD in art history who has grabbed a highly sought-after internship with the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. Unfortunately, Rin is far from the polished professional the position requires. Rin is six feet tall, shy, and dowdy, but with the help of her friends and a tube of red-hot Boss Bitch lipstick, her makeover transforms her into a working woman radiating confidence.
I was smiling through all the changes Rin agreed to do and, “that little tube of salvation” and new clothes turned the quiet girl into a poised and assertive professional. Her friends, Amelia, Katherine, and Val were wonderfully supportive and protective of Rin when she comes across her irresistibly handsome boss, Dr. Court Lyons.
Court Lyons, the curator of the MET, is heir to a fortune that is generations old. He’s cool, charming and suave. Court can’t believe what a beauty Rin becomes right in front of his eyes. Court realizes there is an attraction between them but he’s sworn off giving his heart again since the betrayal of his fiance. For now, he can only offer Rin a relationship without strings. As they work closer together, Rin can’t help falling for Court. Can she keep her heart from breaking once the internship comes to an end?
I loved Rin and Court together. Loved that Court was able to let himself trust again with a woman like Rin. The story took an unexpected turn, but wow, what a romantic and swoon-worthy ending. Ms. Hart gives us a story with witty dialogue, delicious scenes, and rich descriptions that I felt I was right there in the scene. Lots of wonderful heat and passion between Court and Rin, and the writing I found irresistible and intoxicating. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Tall girls unite! I get you Rin, I so get you. I’m almost 6 foot with monkey arms and wear a 12 1/2 men’s shoe. I’m that “I will get that off the top shelf for you” gal. I related to this story so hard. But not working at The Met with a hottie part, maybe in my next life. Another great read, I really enjoyed it!
I won this book thru Amazon contest!! First book I have read by Staci Hart & loved it!!! Loved all the characters. Rin & Court of course the main players. Like the fact Rin had to prove herself in her internship at museum to Dr. Court Lyons. He was a believer n Rin from the 1st research paper she gave him. Page turner & a must read book!
Oh my god! I’m completely obsessed with this book. From the stunning cover to the unbelievable character development, and finally the visually stunning settings and there perfect execution! Staci Hart has surpassed expectations with this brilliantly beautiful work of art!
I have to be honest here. I didn’t love Rin when the book started out. I worried and fretted over how I would ultimately feel about her, but WOW was I blown away shortly thereafter! Such amazing character development and progression.
But here’s what really went well, the book just spoke to me. I’m a huge art lover and worked in the Art History department in college. I got so nostalgic while reading this book. It took me back to some of the most amazing years of my life! Thinking of the girl I was then and the woman I’ve since become is why this book is all about. Growth, develop, become the best you and loving the person you see when you look in the mirror. I couldn’t get enough!
The characters are well done. The angst level is spot on. And the settings are all Amazeballs! This is a HIT! A brilliantly written story and lovely romance!
Piece of Work is a quick read that will easily suck you into a world of awkwardness, art appreciation and becoming a butterfly. Sounds weird when I put it like that but honestly, it all works together.
Rin just landed her dream internship, working at The Met. Learning, researching and art appreciation is in her wheelhouse but on her first day, she quickly finds out that she’s an outcast. Her handsome boss is cold and calculated and along with his assistant, think she won’t be an asset. So now she has to set off and prove them wrong. On top of that, she’s clumsy and masks her true beauty. She doesn’t mean to, she’s just never learned to embrace it.
When Rin decides to make a change to how she perceives herself, it’s like watching a caterpillar turn into a butterfly. Suddenly her clothes fit her long and lithe body. She’s embracing makeup. She’s embracing herself. Now, her boss can’t keep his eyes off of her and she wants them on her. There’s this magnetic pull about him that she can’t stay away from. Problem with that? Court has been hurt in the past and it causes him to be extremely guarded. Enough that he push and pulls at her and ends up treating her like crap and finally he’s pushed her too far.
I liked Piece of Work. It was an easy read not only because of the story but because the writing just flowed effortlessly. I will admit that it took me a while to like Rin. I get it. She was tall, lanky and considered awkward and understated but she was so meek at first that I had a hard time understanding her. I just wanted to scream at her and tell her to own her own beauty. But that’s the point right? Many of us struggle with our own self evaluation and while it’s easy for me to sit behind my kindle or the computer screen and get frustrated with Rin, the truth is that she represents most of us. All of us obsess with something that we don’t like and while we might not be as meek as she was, the point was to learn to love who you are and embrace it. Which is exactly what she did.
Now on to Court. Whew, he was an ass who commanded what he wanted and fell hard and fast. Despite not wanting to admit it. There’s always something about those type of assholes that just suck me in and Court had me melting just like Rin.
Overall, I enjoyed Piece of Work. I loved that besides romance, art was front and center and it brought out the part in me that loves and appreciates all forms of art. If you are looking for a quick read with push and pull romance that will ultimately makes you swoon, then Piece of Work is for you!
This is my first book by Staci Hart and I really enjoyed the concept of the romance, especially the lead female being a smart as heck, beautiful tall Asian girl. She rocked it, totally nerd power.
The beginning was great, I loved watching Rin’s growth, she seriously was the whole story, her confidence, her smart and devotion to her work. She was awesome. Starting off as an awkward but hard-working intern, she may not of had a great idea of fashion sense, but she knew her art and will do anything to prove herself. She it dealt with one blow after another, not only is her boss a total B-word, but the head of her department Court treats her as just another intern, until of course she proves herself valuable and shows that she can handle a challenge.
The chemistry between Rin and Court is off the charts hot, I love the boss and employee forbidden relationship. But what I loved even more is that just couldn’t resist each other, their smarty brains just fit perfectly. I liked that they brought out a strength in both when it came to work. However, I felt the Court was more immature than Rin when it came to making good relationship decisions. He was insensitive to her when it was about risking their jobs, he became selfish, and he knew it.
In the end I loved how it all come together, how Rin found her true self. My big issue was the middle of the book, it felt off, a little slow, and something just didn’t keep me connected to the characters and their journey as much as I would of liked. But again this was totally Rin’s story and she was absolutely the star.
“Piece of Work” by Staci Hart was a very enjoyable fast paced rom-com.
with an extremely unconventional female heroine at its centre and an intriguing unique storyline that had no issues pulling me in and keeping me entertained.
This was my first toe-dip into the waters of this particular author.
And I’m very pleased to say the experience was a positive one.
“Piece Of Work” is told in dual POV; with both, David and Rin taking alternate turns reciting chapters.
It’s set in the very different world of Fine Arts.
I particularly liked this fact as knowing nothing about the medium of Art; I actually felt I was getting a brief window into another world here; almost educating me about the whole setting.
First, we have Hyo-rin Van de Meer; new intern in the European Paintings department at the Met.
Korean, very tall, clumsy, shy and seriously lacking in everyday people skills.
But on the other side of the coin; also intelligent, Loyal, funny and a great friend.
Rin has so much to offer but is so used to being all but invisible to others; so when our ugly duckling with the help of her best girlfriends morphs overnight into the swan that was always hiding beneath her skin David definitely notices this and is no longer just intrigued by Rin’s fine mind; but also the body covering it.
Now for David/Dr Lyons; Rins new tempory boss at the museum and the resident Art Curator.
David comes with baggage an overbearing father and a substantial Trust fund.
Always searching for a hidden agenda he’s so used to people wanting something from him he never takes anything at face value.
Well got to say; I wasn’t initially digging his vibe at all.
When we are first introduced to the Art Curator himself my first impression here was that he was an egotistical douche.
His snap judgment attitude towards Rin and how he perceives her was abysmal.
So dismissive; not even reprimanding his assistant The Barracuda Bianca; which is what I have affectionately titled the vicious witch; was awful to watch almost bullying.
Just referencing Rin as “The Intern” like she wasn’t even a person with emotions and all that well ggrrrr; let’s just say David at that moment in time was not at his finest and his inconsiderate actions really boiled my piss; like totally.
But moving on here slightly; when David does eventually start to allow his inner nice guy a small vacation things do start to look up a bit for our two lovers.
And it’s not long before David and Rin are setting these pages alight with there sexy antics.
So “Piece Of Work” was an excellent read.
It was your classic ugly duckling metamorphosis story.
With a misunderstood growly Beastly Boss also thrown into the mix just for good measure.
And though slightly predictable in places; this was still a fun easy read that brought an easy smile to my face.
David along the line; did eventually grow on me and Rin along with all her friends I adored from the start.
If you’re looking for a sweet romantic rom-com this ticks all the boxes.
I also think this was set up rather nicely for future publications; can’t wait to see the other members of the “Red Lipstick Coalition” achieve there future HEA’s.
So I’m crossing my fingers and toes here that this is the start of a fun new series.
Hers hoping.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of “Piece Of work” of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I’m a bit ambivalent on this one. On one hand, I loved seeing Rin blossom and Court loosen up. But on the other hand, the writing seemed stiff to me so it took effort to hold my attention. Loved that Blair got what was coming to her but did not like that Courts Father didn’t. See? Conflicted.
4 Full Pieced Stars!!!
Staci Hart is magic!! Her writing sucks me in with every book she writes. Piece of Work was no different. And, like her previous books Staci does her homework to get her facts straight.
Rin has gotten an internship at the Met. She’s worked hard to get it and she’s gotten the references from some important people. Rin hopes she can go and make everyone proud.
Rin is of mixed heritage and being half Korean she’s extremely tall. But, she’s use to being invisible to those around her and Rin’s perfectly OK with that. Until she walks into the Met and both the curator Court and his evil assistant Bianca throw her a look of disgust ESP Bianca.
Rin tries to not let the looks bother her. But, when a misunderstanding with Bianca happens, Rin’s not sure she can do this. Luckily for her she’s got the best friends/roommates in the world. They take her clothes shopping at a place that specializes for tall women with her body type. Rin puts on her new clothes and the bright bold red lipstick on that their weekly waitress insists every woman should have and heads to work. Rin was totally unprepared for what happened next. But, she did know she was tired of being invisible and was ready to be seen and heard.
Court is the curator of the Met and he takes his job seriously. He’s been working on the upcoming exhibit for months now. The only thing that’s missing is Michelangelo’s David. The curator at the museum he’s at in Italy is making it difficult for him to get him for the duration of the exhibit.
When Bianca didn’t give the intern proper, clear instructions he was mad at first. Then, he looked it over and he was impressed at what she looked up and gave him ideas he didn’t think of before.
Court plans of sitting down with the intern (who he cant remember her name) when she comes in. But, when she came in he was shocked. She was dressed differently and her red lips. As drawn to her as he was Court had one rule in his life. No coworkers! He’d been burned bad before and he’ll never do that again.
Court plans of having Rin do certain research and they discuss it before days end. Court tells himself it’s just business but deep down he knows Rin is different. But, when he accuses her of using him for her gain, she flips. Proving his first instinct right. Then, he kisses her and regrets it and runs away.
The more time Court and Rin spend together the harder it is for them both to keep their feelings straight and minds on track. Court’s back and forth thinking/acting is messing them both up. When they both have to go to Italy things definitely change. But, when they comeback that’s when things can get complicated. ESP when Court’s boss, his father is always out to ruin him by trying to prove crazy things.
I couldn’t put this down! One minute I wanted to smack Court and then the next wanted to strip him down and let him take me anyway he wanted. And, Rin I adored! I loved watching her go from a shy, timid girl who was afraid to speak and only spoke when spoken too and then who she became. She turned into this fierce woman, somebody who stopped letting people walk all over her. She was fantastic!
I’m hoping and praying Staci gives Rin’s friends their own stories. Because, these girls deserve their own HEA like they helped Rin get.
This story took me completely by surprise. It was really different. Rin, the female MC isn’t your typical young, pretty girl. She’s a plain Jane. This story was like watching a butterfly emerge from a cocoon. It has such a good underlying message about confidence and self worth. There are good guys and bad guys. The chemistry between Court and Rin is off the charts. There is so much imagery right down the the tube of Boss Bitch lipstick. It also takes place in an art museum which I found really interesting and you could tell that the author really loves art or just did a lot of damn good research. This needs to go on your TBR pile for sure.
Piece of Work was a novel full of laughter, finding your own person, as well as diversity. It was full of love and pain, mixed in with sass and attitude, and finding the way to become the person you want to be while staying true to who you are. It was a novel that had so much in it besides just finding love, that my head is full of both Renaissance work and also life lessons. I highlighted so many quotes in this book, not only the sweet ones filled with love, but also the ones that broke my heart. I highlighted the ones I wanted to remember forever.
In romance, it’s often hard to find books that don’t feature the typical white female and white male. I’ve found I mostly read white girls meeting white boys. Nothing wrong with that, it’s just true. To read this novel, and see a six foot Asian girl, who’s smart as hell, and her roommates that are everything in between, and it was awesome! Rin lives with her three roommates, who are all varying degrees of shy and anti-social, but so incredible in their own ways.
Rin is almost done with her PhD when we meet her, and she got an internship at the Met to complete it. We see her in the beginning as an insecure girl, trying to hide herself in clothes that don’t fit. Throughout the novel we see her bloom into a woman confident in her height and her intelligence, with new clothes and a new attitude about how to handle life. Not for Court Lyons, no for herself which makes gives the confidence in her clothes and her abilities as a future curator, that much more strength.
When we meet Court Lyons, he is closed off to relationships, both for friendships and for love. He is focused on her career, and definitely not looking for a woman to match him in both wits and art history. Throughout the novel, we see him make his own self discoveries, including that he is turning out to be the person he most despises: his father. We watch him find a woman that arouses him physically and mentally. He falls for Rin’s brain before her body, and the confidence she finds to not only stand up for herself, but put herself first. This pushes Court to reevaluate his life, to become the best person he can be.
This is going to go down as one of my favorites for 2018! As my first of Staci’s work, I am in absolute love!
Piece of Work is the perfect office romance and it’s all, OK, mostly, because of Rin, one of my favorite heroines in all of romance fiction.
Rin lands her dream job as an intern at the museum. She’s a tall, awkward young lady who is actually a whip smart sweetheart. She doesn’t make much of an impression on her boss, Court, at first. But then this tall, sophisticated, beautiful woman sweeps into the museum post makeover and suddenly Court doesn’t know what to do with this woman he had overlooked before. I hate that Court never noticed her pre makeover, but what can you say except that he’s a bit (a lot) of a jackass. Of course, the jackass is mostly only gorgeous skin deep; at heart, he’s a great guy with reasons for his outer layer of assholery.
As Rin and Court fall in love, Rin gains confidence and blossoms into the woman she always was inside. As they fall, Court slowly reveals his true self, reveals why he really is the perfect match for Rin. He’s still a cocky piece of work (see what I did there 🙂 but his true self is as beautiful as Rin.
For me, the real magic in this story is Rin. Her character development is top notch and wonderfully realistic. She’s a character I won’t soon forget, and not just because she’s Asian, which is a woefully underrepresented ethnicity in romance and all other fiction.
Piece of Work is the perfect combination of angsty, sexy and sweet. Rin and Court are magic together!
Staci Hart has brought us another brilliant book filled with humour, wit, emotion and passion. She always knows how to give us characters that will absolutely love and bring into our hearts with the likes of Rin, and a jerk who you will love to hate but ends up redeeming themselves and making you swoon more over them in Court.
Rin is not your typical heroine, shes awkward, geeky and adorable. She’s like a blossoming Swan in this book. Its amazing what a bit of confidence does to her. I loved watching her change and grow throughout this book. Court starts off being an arrogant jerk but once you get passed the bravado, the walls he puts up, you can’t help but love him. The way he comes alive with Rin around is gorgeous to watch.
This is one book not to miss. Another brilliant read from the talented Staci Hart
Staci Hart took me on a lush, toe curling, romantic journey that had me giggling like a school girl along the way. Court and Rin are amazing characters who burn up the pages and stay with you for a long time! I highly recommend it!!
Piece of Work by Staci Hart was a funny read full of chemistry, angst and great characters. It was a great romance that pulled me right in. It was a bit of an office romance with a touch of the forbidden and all kinds of wonderful!
Rin has worked so hard to earn the internship she is about to start, she is excited and nervous. But once she arrives she feels like she does not fit in, though she knows she is the right person for the job. She was shy and quiet, but I loved seeing her come out of her shell and embrace the woman she could be.
Though I loved Court, at first, he was a bit frustrating, but he was trying to follow his one and only rule. Even so, he was enthralled by her. He was both smart and arrogant and after being burned one too many times, has walls built around him for a reason.
These two had so much chemistry together. I loved seeing them together even as things around them may have been crazy and all kinds of messy. But all of it together really made this story flow well. And Rin’s friends. I just loved them. They were supportive and what every woman should strive to have in her life.
I enjoyed reading Piece of Work. It was sweet, funny, a bit angsty and all kinds of sexiness. It is one the of the reasons I love reading Staci Hart. I highly recommend this book.

Happy reading.
This book!!! WOW!! I absolutely fell in LOVE with Rin and Court…Rin is a believable and lovable heroin. Shes normal, smart, odd, loving, has a group of best friends that will remind you of your own. Court is not the normal hard ass man. Yes, he’s a hard ass but for a different reason, which you learn. Hes been in love but his heart lies in art. When these 2 come together its funny, sad, hurt filled, sexy, everything…and it all happens over ‘boss bitch.’ Read this book bc Staci hit it out of the park again…
