Meet the McIntyres is not your average romantic book series, it’s an epic family drama
The last thing Gage McIntyre is interested in is having a girlfriend. He’s already got more than enough female drama in his life with his crazy mother and unsettled sister. He’s fully loaded, one might say – overloaded. So will one tortured New Year’s kiss, one taste of Carly be enough? Or will he find himself … Carly be enough?
Or will he find himself desperately needing more?
PICTURING PERFECT is a full-length contemporary romance novel from Australian author Rebecca Barber complete with a sassy heroine and determined hero who refused to take no for an answer. It’s the second book in the MEET THE MCINTYRES series.
I enjoy the sarcasm and wit between the characters in these books and it is entertaining to say the least. But what I really love the most, is the abject loyalty that holds them together – Goodreads Reader
…The characters are amazing, genuine, real and funny…Goodreads Reviewer
Humor, sweetness and snark meets family gone bad… “She was real. And someone I really wanted to get to know. That alone scared the living crap out of me.” – Nerdy, Dirty and Flirty
You can feel the sizzle between the two and hear how they think of each other. And how the rest of the group gives them a hard time, I get a kick out of that – Tina
Great country town atmosphere, quirky fun characters and a sense of Aussieness making it an enjoyable read

Picturing Perfect – Rebecca Barber
Picturing Perfect is the second book in the Meet The McIntyres Series and every bit as wonderful as the first
Rebecca Barber introduced us to a wonderfully real collection of new characters in this series – Meet the McIntyres and Picturing Perfect finds us living vicariously through Gage McIntyre and his new interest in Carley.
When the McIntyres get together for a New Years party, country town style, so many things will change for Gage and for Carley.
Gage just has enough to deal with, sorting out his increasingly distant mother, and hoping she can finally be the mother they all deserve and taking on his younger sisters somber moods….. what’s happening with Holly? Gage just can’t afford any more complicated situations but Carley is just too much of a distraction.
Carley has had her own share of disappointment within her own family. They’re so different from the loving and supportive McIntyres so why can’t she just have a little of their kind of family.
Rebecca brings us more fabulous stories from the other McIntyre siblings, Connor, Ryan and Holly, in future books and has firmly set this new series at the top of my favourites 2017/2018. Another wonderfully quirky but heartfelt story with a very real family flavour.
Book 2 and we catch up with all the McIntyres again. It stands alone but you don’t really want to miss out.
Gage is the local vet and Carly a photographer, both have family troubles…actually both their mothers are nuts. The chemistry between them simmered along and I was waiting for the flash bang. Teased me until the end.
Great country town atmosphere, quirky fun characters and a sense of Aussieness making it an enjoyable read.

>-< >–< >–< >–< >–<>–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< >–< What I liked/Didn’t Like: Gage and Carly’s story was riveting. What started as a news years eve dare rapidly leads to….. Sometimes a dare should never be taken or should they???? Well written and an awesome second book in the series. Even though it’s a standalone the characters from the first book appear in this one too.
She wants her happily ever after, but she has to be willing to risk her heart to find love.
She has no one, but her bff Payton. Never being quite good enough for her mother, tore the family apart. Now she’s completely on her own and trying to find her way.
Gage is a hard working guy. He’s been away for awhile but a new job brings him close to home and back into the mess that his family has become.
Carly and Gage definitely have chemistry and get to explore it since they share mututal friends. Carly’s just lost so much, finding someone new to trust and possibly fall for is tough. Gage wasn’t ready for a relationship, but you don’t always get to choose the time.
These McIntyre’s have a whole lot of drama, but they have so much more strength and love for one another. They may have been knocked down, but being back together, as a family, makes them strong. I have definitely fallen in love with the lot of them and look forward to more of their story.
Gage and Carly’s story held me hostage to the end.
Those McIntyre boys sure know how to fall in love, and win their women over. This is the second book in the series, and while each is a complete standalone, Rebecca Barber infuses her books with the wonderful characters that we’ve come to know throughout her Finding Our Place series. So, if you are compelled to find out more, go get that series as well!
And this time it’s the turn of overwhelmed vet, Gage. He’s snowed under with work and the paper trail it involves, while trying to escape from the drama that has become synonymous with the McIntyre name in their town. He’s certainly got no time for the feisty photographer friend of his sister-in-law, with the sexy backside that he can’t stop looking at!
Photography is Carly’s passion, and it’s taken her all over the world. Unfortunately, her family are embarrassed by it, embarrassed by her, and she’s under pressure to conform to her family’s values and to get a real job. She came for an extended stay with her best friend, Payton, and ended up in the middle of a family of gorgeous McIntyre men, especially an overworked vet who she can’t seem to look away from.
There’s just something about these McIntyre men that is absolutely hard to resist.
I enjoy the sarcasm and wit between the characters in these books, and it is entertaining to say the least. But what I really love the most, is the abject loyalty that holds them all together. They will go to the wire to protect each other and that is the common thread that I admire most. Oh that, and the hot and loving overprotective men that I love to read about! 5 Stars!
This is book 2 of the Meet the McIntyres series. It focuses on Carly and Gage. Gage is a veterinarian in a rural area of Australia. Carly is a photographer, who recently moved to the area after a falling out with her family.
This book really focuses on family, some good, some bad. You get to spend the Holidays with the McIntyres, and watch as the attraction between Carly and Gage slowly unfolds. You also get to see the family drama from book 1 continue to play out. There were a few “Aha” moments in this book, along with quite a bit of drama, to keep it moving. What really stood out, for me, in this story was the vivid descriptions of the Australian countryside, that made it so easy to picture in my head. It sounds wonderful!
The ongoing saga of the McIntyre family makes this book a must read, if you enjoyed the first book, and definitely leaves you wanting to find out what happens in the next story!
