The #1 New York Times bestselling author of My Sister’s Keeper examines the fault lines of a troubled marriage in this “unfailingly intelligent…undeniably literary psychological drama”(Booklist). To the outside world, they seem to have it all. Cassie Barrett, a renowned anthropologist, and Alex Rivers, one of Hollywood’s hottest actors, met on the set of a motion picture in Africa. They shared … of a motion picture in Africa. They shared childhood tales, toasted the future, and declared their love in a fairy-tale wedding. But when they return to California, something alters the picture of their perfect marriage. A frightening pattern is taking shape—a cycle of hurt, denial, and promises, thinly veiled by glamour. Classic Jodi P
Not one of Jodi’s best but a good read all the same!
i would not give this book 5 stars it is not in the normal style of J P. I expected a rwist at the end but the tortured woman left her husband which was expected.
Not the best read.ms. Picoult was not her usual thought provoking writer that she usually is.
A disappointing read.
The plot was interesting. The characters were believable, which is important to me when reading a book. It was rather sad as well, but overall, a good read. I really enjoy Jodi Picault’s books.
Not as goog as her later books
Not her best work.
Still reading,
I have to say that usually I love anything that Jodi Piccoult writes, but this wasn’t a great page turner. It was painful reading about someone being a victim of spousal abuse and going back again and again. Perhaps that is typical for abuse victims but I couldn’t keep reading about it. I’m glad that her child saved her and she called the abuser out. So I suppose it was a happy ending.
I loved it
Ridiculous plot and very bad writing from someone who can do better
I love anything by Jodi Picoult! You will enjoy the mystery as well as the romance in this one!
Great character and plot development. Engaging!
I love and have read all of Jodi Picoults books! Would definitely recommend this book!!
Excellent read. Loved it.
Judy neer fails to entertain and keep you involved.
This must have been an early try for Jodi Piccoult. It was pretty awful but I was determined to finish it.
I love that Jodi makes me think. This story caused me to evaluate how I would be in this situation. Loved it!
Easy Read, great character description, Jodi is always terrific.
Read several of Jodi Picoult’s books and loved them. This is why I purchased this one; an unexpected surprise to find at BookBub for the low price. It was disappointing as well as an unbelievable premise. Read as much as I could, but skipped several paragraphs in many chapters just to get through it hoping the story line would get more interesting. It didn’t.
