“Actually—” Oh, dear, this was most embarrassing. It sounded so—so aggressive. But she must be exact. “Actually I was a little angry—at his rudeness, you know—so I poked him in the back…”When Miss Seeton walks out after a performance of Carmen and witnesses a real-life stabbing, all she can recall is a shadowy figure. But how could she have guessed that her latest artistic endeavor is a … latest artistic endeavor is a picture-perfect portrait of the killer?
Her sketch puts her in a perilous position, for back at her recently inherited cottage in Plummergen village, she’s fated to be a sitting duck . . . for murder most foul!
Meet Miss Emily D. Seeton: retired art teacher Miss Seeton steps in where Scotland Yard stumbles. Armed with only her sketch pad and umbrella, she is every inch an eccentric English spinster and the most lovable and unlikely master of detection.

“Very entertaining. Better than Miss Marple. Can’t wait to read more.”

Love Miss Seaton no matter which writer.
Not bad
Good, easy read
This book was very amusing and extremely unpredictable. The village gossip added a interesting speculation as to Miss Seetons real motives and character. This series is a delighful read.
I read two chapters and she was so irritating that I couldn’t stand to read anymore! She was so feeble minded and her thoughts wandered all over the place, it was so hard to follow her thoughts, none of them were logical!
I loved it! I ordered the second book.
Nice British cozy.
I like mysteries but I couldn’t get into this one. Just read 3 chapters.
When I started this book, it had too many characters and I found it hard to follow but when I read more, I was so excited to finish the book. After I was done, I looked forward to the next one.
If you like cozy mysteries, like Agatha Christy, this will keep you interested.
Think of it as a Miss Marple weeks Columbo!
I picture miss Seeton as a combination of those two. A pleasant, older lady who isn’t Easley wrinkled but isn’t quite in touch either. I didn’t get the feeling she was actively solving a mystery, but because of her relationship with police who were aware, mysteries were solved.
Amusing, It’s a little different being the British English vs. The American English but quirky and entertaining. The main character is clueless but clever and not remotely decrepit for her age. This is a quick, easy read, no real concentration required. It’s the perfect type of book to pick up when you know there will be interruptions and distractions but still interesting enough that you’ll want to pick it back up and see what happens!
Quite a story that has twists to the end.
Really liked it
Miss Seeton is like Miss Marple. It was fun reading and a very mysterious.
Like watching a British Mystery on PBS
This was a very light hearted and easy book filled with quirky characters and over-the-top situations. You need to enjoy the absurd. If you take life too seriously I would advise you to skip this, but otherwise have some fun with the eccentric but kind hearted and well meaning art teacher.
A classic from the original author of the Miss Seeton mysteries. The writing is exceptional and the plot intricate.
Unassuming and always interesting with well portrayed characters and plot twists.
This book was SO entertaining. Miss Seeton just seems to rock on thru her adventures very unaware of the danger. Love her umbrella!
