A man with a shattering talent…The art world’s favorite bad boy, Diego Davis painted like an angel, loved like the devil and died with his secrets. He left behind the masterpiece that defined him, the gorgeous little town that inspired him, and the three women who loved him — his wife, his sister, and the girl he never loved back. The woman he widowed…Addison Davis’s marriage was terrible … terrible a mistake but she can’t bring herself to regret it. Diego had his faults, but his roots were strong and deep, and he left them with her when he died. Now the girl who never had much of a family has a mother-in-law who’s as loyal to her children as she is ambitious for them, a beauty-queen sister-in-law who’s somehow become Addy’s best friend, and a baby brother-in-law she loves even though he’s starting to resemble Diego in all the worst ways. Only Jax, the black sheep brother, refuses her friendship for reasons he keeps stubbornly to himself. The secrets she keeps…But Addy inherited more than Diego’s family. She inherited his secrets as well. Secrets rooted in a scandal the whole community buried nearly fifteen years earlier. But nobody’s secrets are safe if Addy is going to protect the family she loves — not hers, not Diego’s and certainly not Jax’s. When all is revealed, it becomes clear that only love can truly heal what Diego destroyed. But can Addy find the courage to risk her heart again? Welcome to Devil’s Kettle.

I loved this book, it made me laugh, cry, and smile.
I liked the book. It kept me interested and didn’t have slow times.
It has a lot of interesting characters and family secrets. I could not put it down.
Had me going in circles until the very end. Great who-done it with missed clues, false clues as well as unanswered questions.
This was a good story and the writer uses words so well it held my interest. I will look for more by this author.
I enjoyed this book so much that I had to read the series, not that the first book couldn’t stand alone, but the other characters were so querkie and strangely attractive that I was pulled in.
Just ok
Couldn’t put it down.
So I actually had a hard time putting this down, which surprised me because the idea of a modern day widow falling for her brother on law wiggs me out a little. But the premise of her original wedding makes more ok with it. Addy’s other in-laws drove me nuts though. She was so glad to be a part of their family but for the most part they don’t seem to treat her very well and she lets them take advantage of her. Her romance with Jax I enjoyed along with the side characters enough that I’ll probably try to find the next book since it starts following them.

Great book
I enjoyed the characters in this book – wanted to hug some and slug others! Nice book.
I loved this book. The characters were great. It is a great story with many twists and turns but an eventual happy ending with enough left to tell that you want to red Book 2 in the Devil’s Kettle series

A mixed up family deals with their dead artist
And the heartache he caused many.
Addy marries a jerk who happens to be an artist, one of his best works is a portrait of her. She has always wanted a family now she has his and he’s dead. It’s all about life in a small town on the North Shore of Minnesota and this very dysfunctional family.
First book I have read by Susan Sey. Can’t wait to read another. Loved this one.
I could not relate to these characters thinking and actions. I kept reading to see if they would finally act in ways that made sense. They didn’t.
Couldn’t put it town. Fascinating characters and plot twists.
Loved the characters. Very interesting plot with a couple uexpected twists. I liked that the characters weren’t one dimensional.
