After having her heart broken by the only man she’s ever loved, everything seemed to go downhill for Emerson Grace. It’s taken years, but Emmy is finally starting to pick up the pieces of her broken life. Until the man who destroyed her heart returns, bringing with him the pain of the past. Running from Emmy was the only way Lucas Allen knew he could protect her from the demons he carried with … carried with him. After spending one perfect night together, Luke took off, certain he couldn’t possibly give Emmy everything she deserved. Eight long years later, he’s returned to Cloverleaf to try and make up for his mistakes. He can only hope it isn’t too late.
Loving Luke has always been easy. It’s forgiving him that seems impossible. Now it’s up to Emmy to decide whether to give him a second chance, or let him go for good.

Emerson Grace was best friends with Lucas Allen and thinking that they were building on something more, Emerson gave all of herself to Lucas only to be hurt in a way she never knew if she could come back from.
Lucas had his reasons for pushing Emerson away, he believed he was not good enough for her. Now he is back and wants to reclaim Emerson as his own but what he did not plan on is the heartbreak he caused her. Lucas knows he has to fix what he broke with Emmy but will she ever be able to trust him again?
Grab our tissue, this is a heartbreaking story and unfolded in a way that had me crying almost through the whole book. I loved Emmy and her friends, I was weary of Lucas but I think that was how his character was supposed to be. He redeems himself, absolutely wonderful story.
Holy cow this book was a roller coaster and full of emotions and a bit of angst. I loved the characters and the secondary characters as well. I loved that Emmy had an awesome group of friends to get her through the crap life threw at her. I liked Luke, certainly didn’t like all the dumb decisions he made or the things he said later in the book when he found out something Emmy was keeping from him. I wanted to smack him upside the head a few times. I loved that Emmy was strong and didn’t just forgive Luke the second he came back to town. This was the first book I’ve read by this author and can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
Picking Up the Pieces (Cloverleaf Book 1) by Jessica Prince is a friends to enemies to lovers, contemporary, small-town romance told in dual POV and moving back and forth between scenes from the past to the present.
The story follows former best friends, Emerson (Emmy) and Luke. When Emmy graduated high school Luke enlisted in the marines, but before leaving he ruthlessly and intentionally shattered her heart. Then he disappeared never to be heard from again.
Until now.
It’s now eight years later and Luke has returned to town determined to gain forgiveness from Emmy and his former group of friends. But he wants much more than just forgiveness. Luke wants Emmy in every way and he’s determined to make her his.
As the author’s debut book, it was a solid start. I found the storyline entertaining, but I wasn’t crazy about the main characters. Luke was an entitled, controlling jerk and his behavior at times crossed the line from alpha into abusive. Emmy should have been a stronger character after having overcome so much in her life, but she was weak where Luke was concerned. It was unbelievable that she would want to be with him after everything he put her through.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. I liked the supporting characters much better than the main characters, so I’ll most likely check out the other books in the series.
Emerson “Emmy” Grace once believed in one person Lucas “Luke” Allen until he destroyed her heart. After eight years Lucas comes back to Cloverleaf to win back the woman he left behind. He won’t stop until he has Emmy back, unfortunately their is a huge secret separating them. Will Luke win Emmy’s heart again or will he lose his heart? I loved this book and the story just pulled me in. This is one author who knows how to write a story that touches your heart and this story gutted me and make me cry ugly tears. I love how strong Emmy is, no matter what she has faced. Luke is a man full of regrets and still loves the woman he left behind. This is definitely a must read book and I can’t wait to read Savannah and Jeremy’s story next.
It is so good i love how savanna is so funny reminds me of a movie girls trip
Good second chance story
A very good read!
I read all the books I download..
I liked the idea of this story but I felt it skimmed over too much. I didn’t feel a real connection to the characters.
Loved it
