New Year’s Eve is a time for travel plans, nerves of steel, and secrets… of leaving her cherished corgi sidekick, Watson.
It is more than Fred’s nerves, however, or Watson’s grumpy mood, that threaten the trip. When Fred receives a text from Leo about a meeting at Madame Delilah’s Old Tyme Photography, a quick errand leads to an unexpected mystery. And soon more than travel plans are in danger.
In Estes Park, gossip and rumors circulate, and Fred finds support not just among friends and family, but from an unlikely cast of allies. Midnight celebrations and resolutions are the farthest thoughts from Fred’s mind as New Year’s Eve draws closer.
And as deceptions and secrets are laid out in picture-perfect clarity for the whole world to see, Fred and Watson face a fight for survival…

The MOST EMOTIONAL story I have read in a long time. I was going between crying my eyes out and walking away mad . I had my husband hide the book from me so I would go to sleep because it just became so important to see what happened to Leo. I won’t be able to see Leo and Delilah the same anymore and I really don’t know how I feel about that.
I love this series.
I am such a fan of this series! I love Fred and her corgi Watson, and their support system is fantastic. I’ve enjoyed watching Fred and Leo fall in love, especially after Branson broke Fred’s trust and her heart. This one made me more emotional that usual, and I teared up several times. There were some rough moments, but there was also so much pulling together of the citizens of Estes Park. This is one of my favorite books in the series, and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this quirky and deadly town.
The Cozy Corgi mysteries series is fast becoming one of my trusted favorites, and each new book a wonderful opportunity to re-connect with old friends as well as conclusive proof that I’m not sleuth material. But that’s ok, because Fred and Watson are more than capable of solving any crime that comes there way, with a little help from the Scooby gang and the other residents of Estes Park. Things are not at all cozy this time though, with horrible danger striking very close to home for Fred and lives depending on her solving the mystery of the phony photos. In a timely fashion. I don’t think I’ve ever rushed through a book so quickly, I was that on edge. I couldn’t have peace without knowing what was going on, and seeing if things could ever be the same again for Fred and Estes Park, after some of the revelations thrown their way. The author definitely took the suspense and action to a whole new level in this book, what a thrilling read! Oh, my poor nerves…
I love the mix of small town gossips, eccentric friends, dangerous frenemies and the loyal community we find in Mildred Abbott’s world, as well as the beautiful, evocative writing that draws you into her books seemingly effortlessly. Can I have some more, please?
Oh my! Phony Photos has to be the most emotionally gripping Cozy Corgi mystery yet! My heart felt torn for Fred and for the first time I was tempted to peek at the ending to figure out what happened. I loved Fred and Watson and how he’s her constant during tumultuous times. Each and every book shows the loyalty of her friends and family. They always shine brighter when Fred needs them. So many twisted discoveries and some new clue trails that can be followed up in future stories. This is definitely one of my favorite series and it keeps me guessing with each and every book!
